I am a Muslim who grew up in India, surrounded by people of different faiths. Hindus have by and large been very very kind towards me and my family. Many of them have helped me in my career and my studies, selflessly and at times without charging a single penny for their time and efforts. I thank Allah foremost for everything and for bringing such nice people in my life. As a matter of fact, and ironically, despite being in minority, I have found many Christians in India to be very hostile to Muslims (compared to their percentage of overall population). Hindus are not that fixated on religion and quite accepting and accommodating of other faiths and cultures.

Yes Hindus are not fixated on religion. However do u realize how they feel when a muslim tries to convert them saying that my religion is better after taking all the help from Hindus to grow in life? This mindset of converting others to our religion is the root cause where everything starts. U may give dawah politely but question raises in a Hindus mind that why? If a muslim thinks that I'm going to hell and I deserve it if I don't convert then do I need to help him in this life? That's how I felt atleast when muslim started telling me how bad is my religion. Here in Tamilnadu (South India), it's very common to see a long line of Hindu people with their Children waiting outside Masjid after salah to get Ruqya done. Not from some a Ruqya specialist but any random person who has just prayed Salah. Now the ruling on it is a whole another topic, But the trust and respect they have on Islam and Muslims to bring their children to Masjid itself is wonderful to me.

Im a muslim and have hindu Indian neighbors, we respect each other very much and have talked about our different believes while having morning coffee together and it was a nice and respectful conversation, in fact i intend to gift them a copy of the Quran to learn more about Islam, and we have went to a trip together after theyve invited me and when we went to a restutant to eat they told me that its ok if i wanted to eat meat and that i shouldnt worry about it, however i respected them back by eating vegetarian food with them that day and they appreciated that. Simply put, it is very possible to live with people from different believes as long as there is mutual respect and understanding in my experience. By the way this is in the country of Jordan. I am an Arab muslim.

Every verse has its context as does this. Firstly the translation is “ allies” not “ friends”. Secondly, you are treating the Quran as if it was written by man. If that is your path, then you must refute the Quran and it’s many known miracles of knowledge. You can start be refuting the first five verses of Sura Al Rom. In it are three miracles. Reading these verses shouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds. If you cannot refute them, as others haven’t for 1400 years, then start treating this book as your last preserved revelation from your Creator, and try to understand these verses and their context, instead of taking a hostile approach to everything in the Quran, for this book is the only path to salvation according to its author, the Creator of all things.

If the verse actually ordered that I don’t take non Muslims as friends then I wouldn’t be having conversations with any of you as it is forbidden. Also what the Quran from God wrote, and what people wrote down later on about the prophet are two different things. As for what the third ruler did, in burning personal writings of people about the Quran, that would seem logical as these people were not the actual companions who wrote down the revelations from God to the prophet as ordered by the prophet. By doing that he ordered a standardized version in which all the scribes of the prophets agreed upon and destroyed all the writings of the non scribes. But this point has been debunked many times also, so this points to your insincerity. You also failed to refute any verses of clear miracles of knowledge from the Quran. I can understand why you won’t because you can’t, so you deflect and jump onto other points, which seems to be prevalent among insincere Christians who follow Roman paganism forced upon followers of Christ in the fourth century AD.

Here in India, there are countless Hindus and Muslims who are close friends. Spiritual knowledge is, in my opinion, essentially experiential, not textual. In this reality created by God, the values of love, brotherhood, and hope unite us all.

I have some Hindu friends but each year for a few days (a week) or so we stopped being friends. That is during eid al adha. Edit some context. From Malaysia. Eid al adha is a national holiday here. We usually sacrifice cows/cattles and it is always held in public areas like communal parks and fields, Municipals public facilities etc. Even it held in Mosque area the festive is very visible. My Hindu friends interpreted this as Malaysian muslim power trip - show of strength and dominance of the Muslim in Malaysia.

I believe in most cases any community can live side by side with harmony AS LONG AS the people in power etc have no agenda that requires them to stir the pot. I believe the opposite is also true that No community can live side by side if people in power constantly and purposely using their medias to push agenda that causes division... It is why in places like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore etc All religions, Hindus, Buddhist, Muslims, Christians etc live side by side in harmony. The government simply has no gain by stirring the pots. So all is fine. Similar with place like UAE and Qatar who have way more immigrants than locals (85% of UEA are immigrants from all walk of life)...their countries are amongst the safest despite that. Again its the government that make huge different. Even in China, where there r at least 25millions muslims minority, they've been living in harmony. Now despite having had Uyghur trying to separate themselves, or so I've neard, they are still relatively have not much conflict. I believe it genuinely comes down to people in power and the media. Most people are not educated enough or care enough to fact check if what they read is the truth. All it takes is just twisting events, holy books and history....spread them, mix truth with lies here and there, add your twist here and there and BAMM people will start fighting each other. It would be instructive to study BR Ambedkar's book, " Pakistan or the partition of India". He is one of India's extraordinary thinkers and political personalities. He was a strong critic of Islamist bigotry and misogyny and, was also a very strong critic of how Hindus treated their so-called lower castes. Towards the end of his life, Ambedkar in fact left Hinduism and along with thousands of his followers embraced Buddhism.

what I wanted to point out was, Dr Ambedkar was very clear that Hindus and Muslims CANNOT co-exist as equal citizens in the same country. He was FOR the partition of India, and, when partition did become a reality, he advocated a complete exchange of population between Pakistan and India. I truly admire Dr Ambedkar's candour and, consistency of thought and word.

From Indian Hindu experience, the answer is a clear "No". BR Ambedkar pointed this out forcefully in several of his writings, especially in his book "Pakistan or the partition of India". Islam fundamentally does not recognize non-Muslim religions as equal. Hindus and Muslims can co-exist with a modicum of peace only as long as the percentage of Muslims is small.

LOL so you mean Modi came to power when desert dwellers invaded Afghanistan and modern day Pakistan or Modi came to power when the idol of Somnath was broken or perhaps Modi came to power when 1947 riots where "larke lenge Pakistan" (we will fight to get Pakistan) was on every street of Muslim majority areas or perhaps Modi came to power when Kashmiri Pandits were thrown out of Kashmir. Things were always sour between two communities and the good thing is that despite that most Hindus and Muslims are still kind to one another. I have Muslim friends and I don't blame them for thing done to Hindu community by invaders of an entirely different race like Turk or Arabs in past but that does not mean that I will forget the history in any way.

You can have mercy for a mad dog but you cannot be friend with it. You a kafir may wish "All dreams of my Muslim friend may come true and may he get the jannat". But if you remain a kafir despite the "dawah" from him, it means you are not helping him in his "tableegh" to earn his blessings from Allah for higher level of "jannat" which he deserves. And thus you become liable to death and his anger upon you is justified now. Now tell me how can we be friends? The least you can expect is Tolerance from them if not Mutual-Respect. But instead what we are getting? Contempt, Disrespect & Provocation (call for war). Why should anyone pretend to remain foolish in dream of peace? Peace without Minimum Respect can never last even more than a breath. No religion has ever thrived in Islamic backyard. Then why should we allow Islam to take advantage of our democracy and social welfare schemes? All those who are crying against Hindutva here must know it's just a reaction to 1000 years of unprovoked Jihad on Hindus. The day jihad will stop, the Hindutva will go for sleep again.
