As somebody who is starting his third year on a mountain bike and is hitting 50 in a few months. I spent the spring and summer almost exclusively at the pump track learning to jump on a DJ. In the fall I took it to the bike park on a DH rig, and OMG it paid off! At my age repetition is key. I love everything about this video. You can teach an old dog new tricks!

47 here, and 3 years on the bike coming summer. I started last year May adding the pumptrack to my weekly routine! Didn’t miss a week. I absolutely love the place. Aiming to clear my first double this year, but have to be patient. Indeed, repetition is key!

57 here. Relearning the pumping flow, riding my mtb/bmx conversion at the local skate park with small jumps and tail whips on the hips. Getting a little more air over time. Loads of fun. Used to skateboard and bmx way back and that exp helped. Would like to try a decent dirt jumper or go to a bike park like in this video.

As I said in a previous comment - approaching my 60's & am clearing 40ft gaps & big drops. Whale tale features like at Twisted Oaks have also been conquered. Don't ever use the excuse of being too old to do a feature cos that's just BS. If you're too scared or too unfit then just say that you're too scared or too unfit - there's no shame in that but at least it's honest. It's not age that's the problem. I know guys in their 30's & 40's who say they're too old for this or that & it boils my pi$$.

I am much younger than your father and have been hesitating to get into mountain biking despite years of interest. It's just hard to know where to start as an absolute beginner. It's generally a young mans game, and you don't see much representation of older riders. Seeing your old man do this is inspiring; maybe I can do it too.

I took up jogging at 44 to lose some weight and got addicted real quick. FF 25 years: I ran 7 miles on my 70th birthday and that was my last run. Had to quit running because of some nerve problems in a leg. I was despondent. Then I had a thought. We had an old Schwinn Walmart hard tail in the garage. It had been our son’s bike, and when he died several years ago I’d parked it in the garage, where it had gathered dust ever since. I took it to the local bike shop, spent a little money bringing it up to snuff, and went for a spin. The rest is predictable. I started riding every day, no bike parks but cutting through the woods and riding on country roads. After a year I pulled the trigger and got a Polygon dual-suspension bike, love it, and am looking for more adventurous trails. I’ll never do the stuff I see here on KZbin because I’m 71 years old and not crazy - surgeries on one foot, one knee, both shoulders, and two different parts of my spine so far, and I don’t want any more. But small jumps and drops are ok, and flowy stuff is a blast. I wish I’d started doing this earlier. I see people my age and younger who look like they’re ready for some embalming fluid, and it’s sad. They can have their mobility scooters and wheelchairs. I’ll stick with two wheels as long as I can.

Absolutely precious! Great to see your dad and you having fun at a bike park. At 74 years old and still riding mtb (almost 40 years of riding and racing), I find that repetition really helps. Would love to see a follow-up where dad gets a better feel for jumping. Using the same course is fine; so, he can get more comfortable. Yes, I am still jumping at 74; but, not so high...LOL

Sure we all like seeing superstar MTBer's flipping tricks and doing stuff we can only dream about but it's great to see more normal people taking on MTBing too. Nice to see a pair of down to earth riders having fun, kudos to both of you and the rest of the team for making the video
