@@Lepoetism Fire Giant beats Maliketh more than any other boss actually. I've tested it. It's the only boss that can still somewhat consistently beat Maliketh (50/50 kinda) when you make Maliketh start out second phase. The only exception is when you put Maliketh in his own arena. But even Malenia loses a vast majority of fights against Maliketh when he starts out second phase, and no other boss can kill him, not even Radagon/Elden Beast one after the other without refresh. Also, Mohg never kills Maliketh. Not even with NIHIL instakill. He dies before he gets to use it 10/10 times. I've never had him pull it off.

Honestly how I’d imagine the game would be if you told her you were going to help her find Miquella at the very start in exchange to help us in our journey to become Elden Lord. Which would’ve been quite possible had she not been in a coma and wandering about the lands She’d probably sacrifice her life and die fighting Maliketh, entrusting you with her final wish to save Miquella and take down Mohg. Then as part of the DLC, instead of fighting Malenia after her second bloom, you fight a resurrected version of her in her third and final true form but fully under the control of the outer god of rot with no memory of you or Miquella. But with the help of Miquella whom you saved at your side, you manage to defeat her and put her to rest

And the item description seems to support the idea that it would’ve worked. I knew she would struggle with the fire giant. Characters with really slow walk speeds don't fair well against him due to his great range.they tend to take way more punishment than they deal out. Mainly because they are unable to get close enough to attack before he does.

Her problem isn't slow walking. It's that her AI attack pattern is based on humanoid-size opponents. She's meant to sometimes "hold" or slow walk when her opponent is at medium range, not close enough to hit with melee weapons, but she's meant to attack when you get closer. This hugely advantages the giant because she's in "hold" mode while the giant is in range for even his shortest-range attack. This is partly why her phase 2 wrecks the giant; her phase 2 doesn't do the "hold" bit nearly so much.

I'm surprised, but not TOO surprised. She's terrifying in PVE because all but one of her moves is designed to be threatening to a player, and she's terrifying in many-enemies EVE because waterfowl dance in a crowd will both devastate and almost surely top her up from all the hits, but against a single enemy that can only proc one heal per swing and can do damage to outpace that even with the occasional dance she can get worn down, and that's all she needs to lose when she's facing the whole boss roster back to back.

So yeah, Maliketh just can't do what she does and loses most of the time against her even with buffed stats like starting in phase 2 with full hp
