Can NBA JAM slim save Arcade1up?

Do you have any interest in this cab, or is it a miss? I thing this might actually be popular with people who aren't hobbyists, but just want something for their home bar/man cave (although probably not for $499).

These guys are survivors. Everyone has been predicting their demise since they shipped the first cab. I agree things look bad, but maybe they have a plan. I hope they succeed.

Well, they could well survive as a company that all but moves away from the home arcade space, essentially making NBA JAM, Pac-Man, MK games and not much else other then infinity tables. But yes, I do hope they survive!

It is believed they went with the slim Casinocade form factor because of the Thinkup lawsuit which claims all existing form factors including those that were in development at the time of separation were designed by Thinkup so there’s a good chance this could become the new Deluxe moving forward unfortunately.

That is an interesting theory! If true, you'd think they could've come up with something a bit better then this (which really does need, at the very least, a bigger control deck). I do want to try one out to see if it's better (or worse) then you'd think it would be.

The end of the line cab. The absolute worst garbage Jam at 500. Insane. 299. That might have moved. Probably 80 bucks to have Chinafactured. The tools in charge now should be unemployed.

I was excited when first seeing this bc i have a 4 player jam and would a 2 player version. Then i saw this thing from a side view and was disgusted. These can already wobble and this version is much lighter and would look and feel more like a toy than any other before. If they really wanted to give this new design a shot it should of been attached to a new title to get some of the ppl apposed to this design to maybe picking it up. This will increase their bottom line but how many ppl are going to buy this even new ppl they already have 4 other nba jams still available to purchase and the deluxe from last year if u look at it is a way more impressive piece for the same price. Looks like this company is just blowing out all the inventory and material they have to grab any money they can get before closing shop. To me they're dead until we see a new title because at leats that will show they're still investing in the company and looking to be around for a while.

Im sorry that form factor is horrible for someone who has 15 3/4 scale cabs and then this.. Just broke down and got Dig Dug only for great looking cab, and it might be the last "real" one to be had..

That pretty much nails it. A1up is not aiming this design at established hobbyists (at least it appears that way). I suppose if all new Deluxe cabs moving forward have this design would fit in better...

Typical A1Up. In my opinion, one positive improvement with one drawback. I actually like the 2-player variant, since the 4-players take up twice as much room width-wise. I’m not sure I like the decrease in size front to back. I’ve seen videos of the riser-less deluxe cabs wobbling around during play. I can only imagine this will have the same problem unless you bolt it to the wall.

For sure - to stop the wobble, you'd have to attach it to a wall. No way it doesn't wobble otherwise, esp if you were actually trying to have 2 people play it. Which is what you have to do with the partycades, so maybe not such a big deal....

I think it'd be OK for a single player, but yeah, it's yet another cab that no one at A1up seems worried about actually playing in real life.

I purchased the first 4 player version of NBA Jam that was released for $400. It still looks new and works well. I have no interest in the 2 player version.

Jeff, you bring up a good point I should have mentioned - there are so many variants of NBA JAM out there already that putting out another version w/ the exact same games is probably not a recipe for success.

Selling the same games over and over is what’s arcade 1 up problem there are over 200 arcade games they didn’t think of releasing that’s stuck you can play only on mame 32 if arcade machines wouldn’t keep on breaking I would of bought them I’m stuck now with 3 arcade machines that keeps on breaking but not one arcade 1 up has ever broken once ever I’ll keep on buying from them

Yeah, it'd have to hang over either side kinda like the 4 player deck does. I think you can actually still get extended 2 player decks from 3rd party suppliers for games like MK so adults can actually play the games together....

Thanks for watching! A1up's calling it a "Deluxe" cab, with no other descriptors (like "slim"). This may well be what all new Deluxe cabs look like moving forward....

@@evilgeniusentertainment If so. Then I think this is a huge mistake that will further harm sales potential for their cabinets. It wouldn't just be shooting it in the foot. But the entire leg. Like if it could speak I can imagine it yelling "MY LEG" like Fred from SpongeBob.
