The noise is not the motor, it is all the plastic gears running the game. This is an exact replica of the TOMY pinball games of the late 87s snd early 80s, in terms of layout and internal functionality.

I don't want an old cabinet that weighs a million pounds and has old problematic parts, that need constant maintenance. Arcade 1up does exactly what i wanted for the past 40 years. They have improved size and quality and are now close to owning the real thing. In 2018, when Arcade 1up came out, i thought i was in heaven - i now own 17 of them, and have replaced some of the early ones with newer models, that have lit marquees and are closer to the real thing.

Maybe not a popular opinion but I thought A1Ups best product was the Partycade, which they don’t seem to make anymore. For me it checked all the boxes, less space, lower price, it comes fully assembled and you can make it any height you want. I got a Street Fighter II, a Defender and a Ms Pac Man. They all still work fine and I think they look great

Agree this company gets a very bad rap. Lived in arcades from the electromechanical through the golden age. Into the 90s. So I clearly understood before buying that these were not originals, have original controls, would not play exact to the originals. I’ve owed over 30 OG electromechanical and video arcade games until my wife and I downsized from a 2500 square foot home into a 920 square foot apartment downtown. Sold my 400lb arcades and took 3 A1Us with me. Centipede Legacy, Class of 81 Deluxe, and Joust Legacy. A1U got it right on cost, dimension, weight, and the opportunity to engage generations young and old younger generation and most that didn’t experience the golden age of arcade. Learn how to upgrade your controls of you don’t like them. If your boards burn out. Learn how to build a PC that will work in your cabinet or buy one used on EBay. Bottom line is no company is in business if they can’t make a profit. Midway, Williams, Chicago Coin, etc are all gone. Enjoy the moment and what’s available.

I just recently bought a ALP HD and was hooked from the get go. I've loved real tables for most of my life and didn't know if I'd like Vpin, but now I know! I have a very low spec PC connected to it via OTG and I play all of my Pinball FX tables almost nightly. All of this to say that after the first of the year (or when a can't miss skin variant comes out) I plan on buying a 4k and doing the same but with a high end PC.

As a owner of several real pinball machines and former owner of the AG HD Pinball, this machine has quite a lot to offer. But, I’d rather soak $2500 into a real pin. I also have to mention that I had several problems with firmware updates on my AG HD pin that made the game unplayable at times. Also, if their server goes down, the machine turns into a giant brick. So, just remember, the AG support is total crap, so be prepared. There are quite a lot of good deals out there for real pins. I just picked up a 1997 No Good Gofers in great condition and there is nothing like a real pinball machine. Yes, it’s only a single table, but the sound, mechanics, rattles and bangs are worth it. I’m currently restoring a 1984 Williams Space Shuttle that I picked up for only $650 and once it’s completed, I will have about the same amount invested in it as a AG 4K pinball. ($2500). So, to sum up, the AG machine is a pretty good virtual pin and if you want lots of different tables for less than $3k go for it. But, don’t be fooled to think it will be like a real pin in any way, because it absolutely is not. It’s not for me because I already have a A1Up pin with the Switch mod and I can play all the pinball tables available for the switch, including Star Wars, Marvel, Williams, Pinball M, Fx3 and Fx. Best part is, I picked up the A1Up pin for cheap and all in with the mods it only cost me $400 total. That being said, I think it would be quite nice to have one sitting next to my real pins, just wish they made it full size and fixed the online problems.
@evilgeniusentertainment
@evilgeniusentertainment 12 күн бұрын
The problem with real pins is multiple - availability, price, reliability/maintenance, only one game per machine, size. I suspect people looking seriously at a 4KP (or any vpin) have already rejected real pinball b/c of the issues I listed. That's why there's been so much interest in the Wonderland pin, and in Ambassador Electronic putting out a 3/4 scale pin.

At sixteen hundred quid just for the table and probably another four hundred for the SSF kit you’re looking at a minimum of two grand in the UK, so about 2,500 Biden Bills. So even this ‘budget’ option is kinda expensive (relatively) for those looking to scratch that mid-life crisis itch or just dip their toe into the hobby. Not exactly mainstream even though I suspect that is what AtGames is ultimately aiming for with this machine and the especially the ALP. And at that kind of price as a pinball tourist I personally would like to know a few things these videos never ever discuss. I’d like a review of the actual materials used in the construction, their composition, will they last past the warranty period, are they of good quality, how will the table stand up to long term use and abuse, what’s the quality control like in regards to overall fit and finish etc? Because honestly having watched a few builds of AtGames products and seeing the rather fragile nature of the cables and fittings it kinda gives me pause.
@evilgeniusentertainment
@evilgeniusentertainment 13 күн бұрын
I think the build quality is excellent. No reason whatsoever that it wouldn't last for years and years in the home environment. Like all 3/4 scale arcade machines (and some Stern pins) it's made from MDF. I mean as long as you're not using it as a tackling dummy you should be fine!
@hissingsid6854
@hissingsid6854 13 күн бұрын
@@evilgeniusentertainment Wait, you DON’T use your as a tackling dummy? 😁 Appreciate the response. The price over here is still a killer though. AtGames should really sort out some kind of distribution in the UK because as it is there’s only a couple of vendors over here and they charge an eye watering amount due to having the market to themselves (and probably having to stump the import taxes, shipping etc). It’s not much fun watching guys over the pond pay quite literally half the price during the frequent sales. Not exactly an incentive. AtGames should look to widen their market imo.

Gotta disagree with you there - even assuming you bought every table there is, you'd still be nowhere near even a base level Xtreme pin. The key element is that you CAN buy these games a la carte. Xtreme makes an amazing table, but it is completely apples and oranges. First - and most importantly - their tables are vastly more expensive; essentially double what the 4KP cost to get something similar. 2nd, it can take 6 months or more to receive it once ordered. The tables aren't licensed, and to add more requires a knowledge of VPX/Future Pinball. Essentially, you enter the realm of being a hobbyist with their (or other) similar tables. AtGames eliminates all that.

It really is a bargain for people who want this experience without paying 5 grand plus.

Thanks Ben! As I've said, it is expensive when compared to most 3/4 scale arcades, but considering the features and the much more expensive (and non-licensed) alternatives, it does offer a good bang-for-buck. Which is why I think it's important for a person to know what it is they are really looking for in a vpin (casual use vs fanatic love of pinball).

It would likely cost $2,000 to make this on your own (plus of course a huge amount of time/research/etc). A comparable unit at a place like Extreme is about twice as much and can take up to 6 months to arrive. In that context, this machine is a steal.

The ALP 4K seems to have a tremendous amount of appeal !!

Totally agree - a huge amount of appeal. It's the price tag that keeps many from taking the plunge, which I totally understand. I wonder what would happen if they could get these down to $999....

@@evilgeniusentertainment Well, that’s why they introduced a starter model with no frills to see if that would move more units. Doubt it really moved the needle. Either you want a virtual pin and will pay for it, or you don’t. Tough road ahead for AtGames because most initial 4KP sales likely went to the audience that already owned the ALP HD or other AtGames machines.

Great overview. I see alot of people have two now, Peanuts is the one I would get next if I got a second machine. SSF is must for sure, since the zen's have been rebuilt, I actually prefer playing Native vs my dedicated gaming pc hooked up to my ALP 4KP and its running a 12900k 3080ti at 4kp, its looks better on the gaming pc but the game play and audio is superior native.

Yeah, that sums it up nicely - Zen games look better on dedicated PC, but play and sound better on the 4KP! I would like a 2nd machine if the skin was right (THE THING would almost impossible to ignore). Be very interesting to see what skins are coming out next year....
