I am happy to be sharing with you the very first Portuguese song I have learnt so far, namely Canção do Mar (i.e. “Song of the Sea). It is a special song for me, since it comprises three beautiful things that I love very much in this world: singing, dancing and the sea. I tried to comprise these ones also in my video. The video was taken in Portugal, on the Costa da Caparica, a seemingly endless 15km-long coastline south of Lisbon. By the way, this song belongs to the traditional musical style called "Fado", which arose in Lisbon in the 19th century. The genre belongs to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. *Original Portuguese Text: Canção do Mar Fui bailar no meu batel Além do mar cruel E o mar bramindo Diz que eu fui roubar A luz sem par Do teu olhar tão lindo.
