Nice one mate! Great job negative splitting too. The battle with time is psychological... Once you know you can run at that pace, it will give you such confidence to push on. You should definitely be aiming for a sub 45 10k now!
@markg993 ай бұрын
Cheers mate! The pacing really worked well for me. I had to let the faster runners go at the start, and stick to the plan. That was quite tough, watching them disappear into the distance but I'm glad it worked out. Great for confidence. We'll see about sub 45 😀👍

You're turning into a speed merchant Mark! Great job with the PB 😀 It's hard work progressively running each km faster, very satisfying when you do it though 👏Chat GPT sounds like it's actually working!
@markg992 ай бұрын
Cheers, Martin 👍 I am feeling a little bit speedier these days 😁 It's nice to mix things up a bit. I've noticed that my faster runs tend to be when I start off nice and steady so by getting the watch to tell me to gradually progress, it stopped me from burning all my matches too early 👌

Great job Mark, what an awesome time! I enjoyed your camera setup, almost had a first person video game vibe haha but you are becoming quite the speed demon. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Jen! Apart from feeling a bit silly in public, I do like the chest camera setup 😁 I was going as fast as my little legs would carry me and 22:08 was just amazing for me on a 5k. I've got your new video on my list. Can't wait to see what you guys have been up to 🙂👍

Well done Mark, 22:08 is a remarkable time and the best part is that you bettered every target split. I'm still using iPhone to film but it's way from ideal, not sure about chest or head strap and GoPro for the future. Following my Sale Sizzler video, I was kindly offered a place at the Mid Cheshire 5K next Friday, tickets for that event are like hen's teeth so I'm chuffed however with my recent laser treatment for my PF which has been ongoing since Nov-23, I have been taking it relatively easy in terms of pace and cutting back on mileage so if I do sub-25 that'd be fantastic:)
@markg992 ай бұрын
Hey Andy. Thanks a lot mate. I was really happy with how the splits went on the day. My watch really helped m me to pace it well. I got my chest and head straps in a bundle from Amazon. They're pretty good if you don't mind looking like KZbinr throughout the race 😄 Good luck with Mid Cheshire 💪🏃♂️ Look after that PF 🤞

@@markg99 You did really well Mark, my best is 23:31 and I’m a long way behind that now😢But we keep going💪I bailed out of Parkrun today as my heel was a bit sensitive after a laser treatment on Tues (no. 6), maybe it was the 27K mtb ride Thursday night🤔Just hope I’m pain free for the Mid Cheshire🙏

Congratulations Mark! Looking forward to follow your steps. My current 5k BP is pretty close to your previous one 23:18. I was wondering how did you set up the Garmin Pro to pace you?!
@markg992 ай бұрын
Hi Mariam. Thanks a lot :) I hadn't used the Pace Pro option before, but I'll try to explain how I set it up and used it. I have the Garmin app on my phone, and that is where I started the setup. Hopefully you have that, or can install it. From there: 1) Click the "...More" button to open the menu. 2) Select "Training and Planning" 3) Select "PacePro Pacing Strategies". I'm not sure which of the Garmin watches support this option. Mine is a Forerunner 945. 4) Select "Create PacePro Strategy" 5) Select "Select a Race Distance" 6) Select "5k", then "Next" 7) Enter a Goal Time of 22:30, in my example, then "Next" 8) Select "Name" if you want to name your strategy, e.g. "5k race sub 22.30" 9) It will default to a flat 4:40/km pace. If you want to start slower and build up, like I did, there is a slider at the bottom that lets you move the dot towards the "Negative" end of the scale, just a little bit. My time for Split 1 was set to 4:39 when I'd moved mine to where I wanted it. This was just an experiment, I had no idea where to put it for the best! It seemed to work ok though. 10) [Save] You should see your PacePro strategy on screen now, and can click on the "arrow and phone" icon to send it to your watch. Pick your watch from the list to send it across. You can wait for your watch to synch or use the Synch option on your watch menu to speed things up. On race day (you can practice this beforehand). Select Run on your watch as normal, then go up to select the Options menu. Select PacePro Plans. Select your plan from the list (you will only have one I guess now). Start your run and it will keep showing you the target pace, and how far ahead or behind you are overall. I'd try this on a training run so you can see it in action and be confident with it before race day. Good luck with your 5k goal! :)
