Except for nursing children, humans do not need any amount of dietary carbohydrates. Humans produce all the carbohydrates they need from protein → this process is called gluconeogenesis. (The "gluco" in gluconeogenesis stands for "glucose" which is one of the kinds of sugar molecules that make up carbohydrates) This is why there is no such term as "essential carbohydrate". So, for humans, a "balanced diet" is one that has protein and fat → no need for carbs from food. It is *_EXTREMELY_* advantageous to let your body make whatever carbohydrates it needs instead of loading in carbs from food → it is very easy to overeat carbs from food, but your body never makes more carbs than it needs. Also, carbohydrates are addictive. It is not uncommon for humans to become addicted to carbs from foods → the term "sweet tooth" is just a gentler way of saying sugar addiction. If you eat less than 20g carbs per day, you will reverse your blood sugar and insulin hormone issues in three to six months. You can track your progress using the (a) fasting insulin, (b) HdA1c, and (c) Triglyceride blood tests. Do a before test then retest every three months. If you diligently follow that protocol, you can expect most if not all PCOS symptoms to be reversed in about one year. I am happy to explain more or answer questions or address concerns.

That is NOT what gluconeogenesis means, and it is NOT a state that the body should be in perpetually unless you want to have high cortisol levels, heart disease, and strokes.

@@4everfaithfulun2Him _"Under fasting conditions, most of the body’s glucose needs are met by gluconeogenesis (literally, new glucose synthesis) from noncarbohydrate precursors such as amino acids...When dietary sources of glucose are not available and when the liver has ex-hausted its supply of glycogen, glucose is synthesized from noncarbohydrate precursors by gluconeogenesis. In fact, gluconeogenesis provides a substantial fraction of the glucose produced in fasting humans, even within a few hours of eating. Gluconeogenesis occurs in liver and, to a lesser extent, in kidney."_ *- Fundamentals of Biochemestry, 4th Ed., Ch 16* Pretty much what I said. 👍🏼 The cortisol release related to gluconeogenesis is mild and transient, not pathological. I've been eating virtually no carbs for three years now and my cortisol levels are well within the healthy range.

Hi Doc! I know my question is not related to the video that you uploaded. I have hpv genetal warts, I accidentally touch the blood when i waxed my private part. I have warts in my fingertips now. My question is, even if the warts in my hands are healed, do I still need to wear gloves so I won’t infect anyone around me by holding them? Please answer. Thank you so much.
