OPNION FROM AN OUTSIDER FROM SOUTH AFRICA: Most of this is centered around college loyalty. And some people don’t know when to put a pause on loyalty to a college and when to appreciate talent. Every single person who has doubted CC has been from one big school or another. IMO 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are several women basketball players that are extremely talented and skilled but the big difference is the fact Caitlin is a point guard that is so far above them all because of how phenomenal she is in so many ways. It sets her apart light years ahead of them all.

Caitlin Clark ranks #1 in PPG in NCAA history. Caitlin Clark ranks #8 in APG in NCAA history. So yeah, you have to compare everything college-related to her. Caitlin Clark ranks higher than Courtney Vandersloot in college career APG. And basically all others besides Tiana Mangakahia (only player in the 2000's that ranked higher than Clark: year 2018-2021; Syracuse) as every other player was pre-1999. So, yes, she is the standard of the "highest" level of a G.O.A.T. caliber player and therefore every other player is compared to her.
@Vadimony
@Vadimony 14 күн бұрын
And for the advanced stats lovers, Clark ranks 11th in Win Shares--with standard notable names like Fowles, Stewart, Moore, Griner, Charles, Collier, and Ogumike ahead of her due to their school affiliations at the time. The surprising one is Elena Delle Donne that made to 5th (47 W/S vs CC's 41 W/S) despite being at the lesser-known Delaware school. Paige is ranked 120th. Angel Reese is 71. Aja Wilson is 37. Sabrina is 15th. You get the gist of it... Paige isn't "Clark before Clark" because she literally ranks nowhere on the echelon of statistical dominance and will need a 6th year to climb the ranks to even be in the same sentence as Clark.

@Vadimony The problem is people compare HS records and Championships at HS level and compare players from different school systems in different regions with different levels of competition and try to claim who is better based on that. The players barely cross paths while they are in College which makes comparisons difficult now you want to compare them in HS and draw irrefutable conclusions based on that? Come on. When people say they have extensive basketball knowledge and want to sell me on stuff like this. I just can’t help but burst out laughing. Either you take me (and everyone else that listens to this stuff) as complete morons or you’re making your stuff up as you go along and you’re not realizing how much BS you are currently regurgitating. Anyways as far as I am concerned nobody was CC before CC because nobody did what CC did before she did it.

So funny story or not, but I am cc fan through Paige. I loved PB and never heard of CC until they made a big deal out of the UConn Iowa matchup Paige’s freshman year. I watched that game and CC outplayed her and I walked away a CC fan. I realized then CC was the better more entertaining player and Paige was on the better team. Still watch PB some… so yes you can be a fan of both. I was the biggest UConn fan too and found little by little I stopped watching them and ended up becoming an Iowa Stan 😂

UConn media is trying to "manufacture" Paige to be ABOVE CC levels and the media machine is in FULL Speed. By trying to organic growth based on Paige skill levels and fandom draw then Paige is NOT even close to CC while Paige was in Bahama tournament with ONLY draw 567 fans to be inside the gym to watch her and UConn play. Last year, CC and Iowa Hawkeyes were drawing from 3,000 plus to FULL gym crowd in the Caribbean final when they beat up Kansas City State. Fandom crowd is EARN-work thru organic hard work and fantastic BB plays and NOT "Manufacture" or Hype machine....

There is nothing not to like about PB. She's just not as likeable as CC22. Also, availability is an ability very looked out for now in pro-basketball. And with the new money coming to the WNBA, i wonder if owners/GM's would invest a big chunk of their cap space for someone who has a history of being not available to play.

I think it is a bad idea to push labels on the college kids. Walter Dinky Proctor was supposed to be the next Ervin Magic Johnson. If you said, "Who?" that's not Walter's fault. JuJu and Paige are really good players. But calling them the next Caitlin Clark is a disservice to those players.

Never getting to see Paige play mainly on ESPN and I am on the west coast, Paige could be hearing or reading an outstanding player. Only I am not reading numbers at her game like most over great players. She will go to the WNBA like Stewart with a few fans having nothing like 200,000 maybe 5,000. Problem being according to her coach Geno, Paige will have problems in the WNBA not having the body to take the hits. Paige will not receive the blows or dislikes one player had rookie season or that could be three players. Wilson has said Paige will be more than welcome to the WNBA mainly not for basketball, oh no not this activist league. For her standing up to BLM and such. After this brief clip about Paige, I am not sure she will hold up long in the league of these pros having the physical problems in the past. What has been so forth Paige will not be having the sales and fans like we have seen in 2024.

It would be great if all media would stop comparing basketball players. They all have a different style of playing basketball. Certain players have a charisma about them and draw you in. WNBA has a lot of great efficient players, but unfortunately not good humans. Remember professional basketball is an entertainment venue. You can be the best basketball player in the world and the worse person and people are not going to support you. I haven’t mentioned any players in this comment, but you did think about individual players while reading my comment. Skill and character makes a difference on the court and in viewership. 🌺

I am sorry, this is just an example of Big School Program vs Non Basketball Powerhouse. If Paige is BUCKETS then where are her scoring records in college? She will never break the records CC has set so everyone should just quit calling her the greatest until she really is, which may never happen. Everyone of these great players the media hypes JuJu, Hildago, Plum, Wilson, Stewart, Inoescu, Reese, Paige etc., are all compared to Caitlin Clark. But if you notice no one ever points out all the records she has set both in college and the WNBA. Where all all the records for all the other players? They didn't set them or they were broken by Caitlin Clark. When will the jealousy, pettiness, bullying and racism stop toward Clark. If she wins the MVP and the Fever get to the WNBA finals, she will still have the same basketball haters who will find she owes her success to someone else.

These women are getting paid a lot of money and receiving a ton of media attention. Are they going to stay hungry. Every off season MJ had a goal. One year it was to become a better 3 point shooter. CC goal this year was to get better at her mid range game and floaters. One of the most media generated athlete looks exactly the same as last year with lower FG%. She has been extremely busy off the court. Is she going to pound the pavement to keep elevating her game. Or is she content with being famous. Time will tell.

Paige is injury-prone. I wonder if WMBA teams can access her rehab reports before drafting an injury-prone player. One would think a team would want to know more about the causation and condition, such as genetics, biomechanics, overtraining, or muscle imbalances. Are they just relying on peptide and stem cell therapy instead of correcting the causes? I don't think she is a good first-round pick if a team is looking for longevity. Also, I wonder if a team can build around an injury-prone player.

You cannot bring CC when a basketball situation remind you of CC which is perfectly legitimate when you want to draw a comparison. But every single time you mention Clark you have to mention another WNBA player even if the conversation doesn’t require a comparison or even if the player doesn’t compare to CC. This just shows the hypocrisy of how this league that cannot embrace her phenomenon and cannot wait to hitch their wagon to another player to be able to move on from her. Meanwhile the other professional leagues could just hope to have a comparable marketing phenomenon that they could hitch their wagon (This is why whenever they have an opportunity LPGA, NBA, MLB cannot wait but jump at the opportunity to do joint activities where she can help promote their league). Hopefully the WNBA will start seeing the error of their ways and start embracing the phenomenon in order to get the league the level of recognition it deserves but that will never happen if they stick to their current merry go round.

The only way they can possible do that is through advertisements and viewership. What other way can they be doing it? I watch the overseas games early morning with Kamilla Cordosa, Chennedy Carter, and I watched one with KM. They have about 60 people at the most in attendance. Explain that please?

Unrivaled what? That's a useless league with two missing players riding on the coat tails of Clark.

If Caitlin Clark is the most popular athlete in the world, then what's all the crying about that she isn't getting the credit she deserves? We're not building her a gold statue, so please stop with the snowflake tears.
