Can Rislone Cat Complete Clear A P0420 Code In My Altima?

After trying out Cataclean, I decided to try out Rislone. Cataclean did have better results, but I would probably choose Rislone to run through a tank every oil change as a preventative maintenance kinda thing!

A rattling cat can cause p420 code because the busted up catalyst inside can restrict exhaust flow. This Rislone product is for removing carbon deposits from fuel system, combustion chamber, and catalytic converter.

Downstream O2 sensor’s. Most new cars cats rarely go bad. The downstream O2 sensors is what tells the ECM the cats are bad. Save money and try changing them before you dump a bounce of money on new cat’s.

Na for testing purposes you can buy mini none plug fouler from Amazon. If light not back on with that mod surely cat is dead.

At my car I think that way too. But in end I learned how to check both o2 sensor graph. And new down steam o2 sensor and obd 2 scanner one none plug fouler. Finally accept my cat is dead.

You deleted the code is why it is still in the memory bank. Needs 150 miles or more at a steady speed to clear. You were going to fast. Steady at 50,60,and 65 for at least 150 miles

you can also clear computer code by _disconnecting__ neg cable and touch cable end to positive term

my Honda has code po420 and I have used so far my second bottle of this same cleaner in 2 weeks time and I still can't pass emissions this stuff don't work so far I will keep you updated if this 2nd bottle works or not ok folks

rislone and cataclean only works for carbon build up but if catalytic converter fails it wont work

I tried Rislone not once, but twice and it did not work. The scanner still reads the P0420 code. I was able to turn off the engine light with my scanner and it came on again 1 day later., with the same P0420 code.

Will this work on my '15 Challenger to pass emissions. I recently took it in for a smog check for the 1st time, and it came out "ODB2 Oxygen sensor monitors NOT READY". I have no CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on. Will one of these bottles, and following the instructions fix my issue? Thanks a lot.

I think when it says its not ready, more driving needs to be done. This could happen if you cleared a check engine light or the battery was weak or died. I'd say drive it a good amount right before you take it in

Lol. I had 2015 Nissan Altima with 372,712 original engine and cvt transmission. I have another 2015 Nissan Altima with 277,280 original engine and cvt transmission. I got the stupid cat codes on both cars. P042. I replaced the 1st car cat with aftermarket magnaflow brand and also 2 new oxygen sensors. Code went away, then came back 1 month later. That car was rear ended and murdered on the highway a few weeks later, so I never figured that one out. This one with 277,280 I put lacquer thinner in the gas tank and it did nothing. Did induction service and code went away, but came back 2 months later. Smh. I think these Nissan cat converters have a shelf life of 200,000 miles.

Haha it's always driven like this. It's the junk altima cvts. Doesn't like to move. And the shiftets are simulated thats why they are weird. But I do know atleast one of my cats is going bad

​@msntung There's no fuel filter in the Altima. Pcv valve yes. I changed mines along with pvc breather hose and spark plugs. Did induction service too. Code went away for a month or so, but came back on again.

Does your scanner clear permanent codes? I bought a cheap one that does. Also you could try disconnecting your battery overnight to clear the computer.

Both of those won’t work. I can clear a code all day or disconnect the battery so it goes away but if you take it to emissions the car will say “systems not ready” because you cleared the codes or removed the battery. They’ll then tell you to drive more and and once I did codes came back.

ill save you guys the hassle of watching the whole thing... bought for 2011 bmw 328i (e93) because of cat code. put it in the tank and about 200 miles later light went off. LIGHT CAME BACK ON ABOUT 1 TO 200 MILES AFTER THAT. This stuff is ONLY good to temp pass smog. Do NOT expect this to "clean and fix" your shit perm.

I don’t want to haha! It’s been about 30k miles since these test. All I needed it to do was pass emissions which it did. Car still drives fine and averages the same 25 city and about 37-39 highway as always. No performance loss yet. Just trying to milk it as long as possible

Also take out the post or after cats the ones that sniff the exhaust and put some mini cat defoulers I got mine from Walmart sight stainless steel with the little ceramic catalyst inside them this will trick the O2 sensor also protect it from damage if you decide to replace the old ones with new ones good luck 🍀👍🏽
