If you’re giving measurable data, you should know how to read a measuring tape!!

There's a reason there are multiple holes on the bars that go under the leaf springs. The pivot point at the adjuster nut needs to be as close to the axle as possible. So you should be extending the assembly out farther to move that pivot point farther forward, towards the axle. The retention bolt and sleeve should be moved back one or two holes. That's how the system will work most effectively and efficiently. It's an incredibly common oversight. It'll still work the way you have it, it just won't be working at it's absolute best.

Do you have a source for this? I have been trying to find more details on this adjustment and the instructions that came with mine didn’t address this.

@@nickc8366 I do not have a resource on this, but I did see it in one of the installation videos I watched, and when I saw it, it made perfect sense (physics was one of my better subjects). It seems like a minor oversight on the part of RAS, but it's easy to do. But like I said before, it'll still work if you don't. Just not as well. Would the difference be really noticeable? I don't know. But I do know that it'll technically work best if you do it right.

I watched your older video where you put these on your 2500, and now glad to see you did it with your 1500. I have a 2017 6.2 1500 with the max tow package that I plan on towing a 30ft toy hauler with. You’ve sold me on these after this video. Subbed.

Great comparison of before and after the RAS installation! Especially with a load which has a tongue weight that would be near the safe working limits of the cargo capacity of a 1500. However, I would have liked to see the scale ticket before you made any adjustments to the WDH. While the numbers did improve, it does not demonstrate how the RAS helped in that area due to the WDH adjustments. I still think RAS is the way to go over airbags. Can't wait to do my install in a few months!

The ball isn’t set up correctly. The trailer is level and it’s pulling your truck down. If you set up the ball either lower or a different pitch it will raise your rear end up. I highly recommend watching Curt’s video on how to properly set up a WDH.
@travis2459
@travis2459 2 жыл бұрын
Unless this is a max tow 1500 this truck is grossly overloaded with this trailer. A 10,000+lb trailer is not a typical trailer a 1/2 ton truck owner should purchase. Add a tank of fuel, wife and kids, and all your camping gear and the setup is even worse. No bolt on parts increase the capacity of the truck. This setup would be scary and dangerous to drive down the highway.
@americanduramax
@americanduramax 2 жыл бұрын
Max tow package is different leaf springs & rear axle ratio with other minor changes. These half ton trucks with the 6.2L are rated to tow up to 13,000lbs. Same truck, different powertrain. This trailer is slightly overkill for this truck but I didn’t have many options to tow with. There was so points i could have hit better but overall it was to show some sort of data with these springs. If you think not adding RAS or airbags to a truck to help it out is safer without it… then idk what to tell you

Weigh your truck with full fuel and DEF without the trailer to get a better idea where you're at with payload. I have the same truck (4x4) and pull a Cougar 25RDS (30', about 7000 lbs) with RAS. RAS made a huge difference.

Tks for the video. I’ve got a 2023 Silverado with the duramax and need some rear end help. Towing a 7000lbs 29 foot rv. FYI. The regular Silverado duramax is limited to 9000lbs towing. But if you get the max tow package, they up the rear axel, 3.73 rear end and springs and it’s rated for 13,000lbs. However they are extremely rare. They aren’t building many of them or they are having issues with parts. I any case the 9000lbs is what the vast majority of us are dealing with. I’m waffling between air bags and these springs you installed. I have a 2 inch sag but really don’t want to raise the rear end when unloaded, which is most of the time. On a plus side, they are easily removed. Tks again for the vid.
@americanduramax
@americanduramax Жыл бұрын
So it just depends. I think a 29' Travel Trailer is well balanced so if your truck is level, then you add RAS, you'd be good. If you have a 29' Toy Hauler, they are typically heavier tounge weight so maybe a bag setup would be better. My issue on here was running these springs when the truck already sat way too low in the rear to start so the benefits didn't look as good as they could have

I have Timbrens on my Silverado 2500HD. After the oem springs sag, the Timbrens take over. I don't even think I'm using the oem overload springs. The truck is level and the ride is stable and well planted towing 7000 lbs off the bumper with no WDH. I also have Timbrens on my Ram 1500 with coil springs, level, stable with minimal sway towing my 6000 lb TT with a WDH.

I’m pulling a 32ft 7500 lb tt with my 21 1500 3.0 non towing. Stock suspension. With my trailer on I’m only 1 inch lower than my front and I use my airbags to make me level. Why is your front and rear suspension so different in height when loaded. Could it be because of your aftermarket suspension?
@americanduramax
@americanduramax 2 жыл бұрын
It's all in how you install and set the suspension. I overcompensated for the RAS springs in the rear on this one so this video wasn't able to give it's full towing potential. Currently at this moment with NO RAS installed, my truck sits level or 1/4" higher in the rear. If I added the RAS + this trailer, i'd be so close to level towing. I just dont know if i have the desire to make a part 2 to this video at this time.

First, If you haven't purchased it yet. Reach out and we can probably save you some money on it and get it to you asap. Secondly, I chose Kings because of availability at that time. I wish i had done Fox or Elka because they are slightly better quality in my opinion but you really can't go wrong with any of the choices. I would say a 2.5 shock is a must have though. I will be dropping my video's this week. Sold this kit and did the 6" coilover kit w King 2.5's and it's been awesome

You did it wrong you adjusted the weight distribution hitch after putting in the helper springs on which intern caused more weight distribution from the hitch to your truck if you want to do it right take the weight distribution bars off and then scale it both ways all I see is the distribution hitch is doing what it supposed to do.

Dude not trying to be an ass here but you got kings on...... they aren't great for towing.. awesome for offroading but.. and second that trailer too big for that halfton. You need more truck. Doesn't make sense to make the front end higher then the back end ofcourse its going to sag more if your back end is lower, thats why from factory it comes with a rake... the RAS doesn't change anything besides when there a load on it so that shouldn't change your ride height, but drill it's your toys awesome truck still just giving my 2 cents l.
