I say this from a position of humility: if the Church will not stand for what is right and say and do the hard things regardless of blowback, then what example does that set for us? Hi. Thanks for writing. You wrote, "all Christians want and would benefit from a Catholic Church that proclaims the Truth of God fearlessly." My concern is that Catholics teach that a person must be baptized Catholic and receive Catholic communion in order to be saved - all without any assurance of salvation. However, Paul wrote, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10.13)." Is that not a different gospel? Did Paul not say, "Whoever preaches a different gospel, let him be accursed"? In fact, it becomes painfully obvious that Catholics preach a different gospel when their teachings are put in the form of Romans 10.13, "Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord, is baptized Catholic, and partakes of Catholic communion might be saved." I hope that you will have a genuine encounter with Christ - just by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

Hi. Thanks for sharing. About 8 years ago, I had chronic depression; it was quite severe! In fact, I did not see how I could possibly live anymore, so great was my anguish of soul. Yet, the Bible says that we are to be 'transformed by the renewing of your mind." That is, my depression stemmed from what I was telling myself: I would lose my job, my wife, and my kids. So, gradually, I started replacing sinful, doubt-filled thoughts with the Word of God. For example, I was absolutely terrified at going into work each day. So, in the parking lot before work, I would read parts of the Bible directly related to my overwhelming fear and depression. For example, "God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind (I2Tim 1.7)." Here's another that I really like, as I have struggled over what people think of me, "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me, my help in times of trouble (Psalm 118.6)." I hope this helps! It did not happen overnight, but I can honestly say that each day, even the really tough ones, are like a day at the beach for me now. For example, recently I had the thought, "I am so depressed!" Yet, I immediately seized that thought and gave it to Christ saying, "No. This is the day that Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it!" Immediately, the depression lifted. Again, this did not happen over night. However, a person can only be transformed if they know the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, "Whoever believes in Me will have rivers of living water bubbling up unto eternal life." Moreover, people can meet the Lord, just by saying, "Thank you, Lord, for filling me with the Holy Spirit." I hope this was helpful in your life. I am so very grateful for those who took the time to tell me about Jesus, about the Word of God. May the Lord fill you with a joy that is stronger than anything of this world (John 14.27)! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

In Catechism 1257, it says that baptism is necessary for salvation. Yet, Christ said, "My Father will give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him." You will have to decide: will the Father give the Holy Spirit to whoever asks of Him or should I believe the Catholic church, that asking is not enough, that a person must be baptized? Remember, Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day, that taught the traditions of man rather than the Word of God. He said, "Shall the blind lead the blind? I tell you that both will fall into a pit." Is that your fate? Will you follow these blind guides, these white-washed tombstones? He said, "Why do you call Me 'Lord,' yet not do what I say?" You can know Christ - just by asking! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

Amen Father for your holy comments on the Eucharist. The Truth is been eloquently expressed in this video. I was always taught that I had to be in a state of grace to worthily approach the Eucharist and my heart must be fully ready to bodily invite Jesus into myself. Just because some individuals may have a weak or dead conscience does not justify their profanation of this blessed and divinely Holy gift of GOD.

But you know what else I hate.. seeing women cry and get really angry over people telling them what to do in that situation. My thing is, is it possible god is pro choice in this situation. Maybe forcing this belief could lead to more problems in this world than we think. That's my question.

The devil is not afraid to get political so neither should the Catholic Church. It should have never been discussed among bishops, the bishops should’ve immediately enforced doctrine. Knowingly giving people the Eucharist when they are in a state of mortal sin for fear of political repercussions is abuse of the blessed sacrament.
@Alex-lr5rj3 жыл бұрын
The devil is not afraid to get political because it’s one of his realms. Politics is for the devil. Politics is always putting one against the other so we as Catholics always need stay anchored in our hearts and in Our Lord.

@@Alex-lr5rj politics is not of the devil. Let's not get carried away now
@HeyBuddays3 жыл бұрын
Politics is a divider. Once you open the door, that can be used by everybody. Any sane Catholic can realize Abortion is a mortal sin because it goes against the very essence of God. Murder in the name of side stepping consequence. The culmination of a series of selfish decisions that lead the sinner to choose death, not for themselves but for an innocent. But you can bet that once you publicly open the door to denying communion, a number of liberal clergy will use that as a weapon for whatever pet cause they have. Have a Trump sticker on your car? Denied. Don't support LBGT? Denied. Don't think a child can pick their gender? Denied. Publicly speak out against open borders? Denied. The only way the church can avoid that fracturing is to not to play the politics game. Focus on scripture. Privately admonish these people that claim to be "pro-choice" and let them know it isn't a partisan issue.
@chissstardestroyer3 жыл бұрын
Good point: we mustn't be afraid to get political at all; that's the field we're responsible for, and where we will be judged on: how we voted is precisely what we will be judged upon, for that shows our character the most, and what we most value.
@Alex-lr5rj3 жыл бұрын
@@drjay927 😂 right! it’s not of the devil definitely people can enter into this arena to do good, but it’s a tough playground and it’s an easy realm for him to play. It divides us- politics is always has been a winner and a loser unfortunately but of course ideally we want and should expect more. That’s all I was trying to say here. .

At the time we were married I wasn't that close to the Catholic Church and we married in the Lutheran Church...as the years passed I felt more adrift spiritually...and decided to return to the Catholic Church.....In the Lutheran Church...it was stressed that "ALL" were welcome to take communion. As a practicing Catholic, I would politely sit out Communion if I attended services at her Church. And...I would have ushers literally grab me to pull me in line...I had one Pastor glare at me from the altar and saying "All are welcome, No exceptions!" Later, a church volunteer told me that the Sr. Pastor was really bothered that I wouldn't take Communion.

"Prudence" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n.1806) precedes "courage" as also the other two cardinal virtues, justice and temperance. I believe Fr Mike's position is not prudent.
