Me too, I have just bought a smaller gelli plate and there is much inspiration to be enjoyed on this channel.

I missed your last few videos and just caught up with all of them. I must say that you brought me a lot of inspiration for the new year! I really like that you are mixing things up with the sizes. You are right about the small size looking monumental-- I love that! I also like that so many people are being drawn to your work and teaching. Since you are coming from a fine arts background you are using your skills and creativity to show people that they don't have to have a lot of commercial stencils and other things to create with the gelli plate. Bravo and Happy New Year!!! 🥰🎉🥂

You have achieved some really exciting images here. They would be great at large scale.

that predominantly orange piece is my favourite too. I've stood amongst the giant red/maroon works of Rothko and know very well the power of giant abstract imagery. I'd love to see this piece at 'museum' scale.

Good point about doing larger pieces from these.

Consider having them scanned for a large output, then printed on stretched canvas. Then you can go back into them with painted elements and offer them for sale as remarques.

a clever idea!

The last one is also my favorite of the group...would love to see more small scale, with complex stencils, and neutral colors, with metallics...thank you

I was going to suggest that they could work as large scale prints. I wasn't thinking about additional printing/painting/collage on top. But I can see it working well.

Yes i do that as a way to enlarge a gel print i really like. Turns out a treat.❤

@@artwhisperer88it's amazing what printers do these days; not only changing the size of the original but keeping the exact same texture of the original. It can print on your original brand of paper. Running your hand across the surface you'd swear it's an original. (She paints with gouache, highly textured.) It must not be all that expensive because the artist I know who does this sells her prints, (you choose from a variety of sizes to fit your space) at at reasonable prices.

Great love the large shapes, make these prints look bigger than they actually are. They have a nice weight to them. I notice how you always place the paint blobs onto the plate. When using a glass plate to charge my roller I get a different look to the prints. I love the way if I roll onto a texture, then it lays onto the plate from the brayer… it’s very interesting… cheers

I am aiming for a more painterly versus printy look. The blobs also offer the element of surprise.
@jdmosaics10 ай бұрын
@@artwhisperer88 yes it is how most people do it, and I do too. I find it interesting to play with different ways to lay on texture. I also pull a lot of deli paper or wet strength tissue prints from my Gel plate. These papers are wonderful to use in collage, very fine but strong and I can pull many layers and they are still thin enough for collage.

I had great enjoyment in watching you create these pieces. You have inspired me to unearth my 8x10 Gelli plate and begin playing with it again (it's been years). I think that, as you pointed out, working in the smaller format, one can find pieces that would scale beautifully to the 16x20 size...and you don't have to spend $4 a pop on paper to experiment. Perhaps a future video idea would be to take the best of the 8x10 prints and to attempt to recreate them in a larger size....obviously this is easier said than done due to the uniqueness of the process. In any event, thank you so much for the inspiration and sharing of your process!

I absolutely loved this video…..the style…the colours….everything ! As I watch your videos, the more drawn I feel towards these abstract designs !!! May I ask, Fulton, why you chose to use the unbleached titanium instead of for example the zinc white ? Is it because the unbleached titanium is not as bright white ….and not as opaque….or did you have a specific reason for using it ? Many thanks….as always for these great videos, Fulton. 🎉😊💕🤩🤩🤩
@artwhisperer8810 ай бұрын
I love the warmer tones of unbleached titanium to the cooler zinc whites. ❤
@sheilacym10 ай бұрын
@@artwhisperer88 ….Thank you. After sending that comment, I did some research about unbleached titanium and realised then why you had used it because of the warmer tones. It was an article on ‘Golden’ web site from many years ago written by the son of the founder of Golden paints….and apparently the unbleached titanium was actually born from a mistake made in the mixing….but Mr. Golden loved it so much and could see the potential, so they kept it as a new colour. Interesting !! 🤗🤗 Happy New Year to you, Fulton, and wishing you every continued success for 2024. 🎉
