Glad to see everyone has trouble with these. Years of sitting have stiffened my rotators so much , but seeing slow improvements. Let's keep at it.

Did not realize you have so many belts Gabriel. I like the stretches and exercises you teach. Remember Benny "The Jet" Urquidez? I fought on a couple of his cards in the 70's. Now, I am 70 and have a Bob at home and am still training. These exercises are great to do in the pool. Thanks

Can do the first and third one very solidly, struggling a bit with the second one once I pivot my standing foot more than about 130° away from the stretch direction. Have been doing your higher kicking routine 3-4x a week which incorporates this stretch and I'm already seeing improvements, thank you for being a real one and giving that kind of advice out for free!

This video was awesome to watch even for me, who can kick to head level with ease just to check if I am doing the basics right like pivoting and such. Very useful! 🥊🥊

Im coming back to Muay thai / kickboxing after a good 4 year lay off (did some boxing inbetween) and the leg dexterity is really a challenge atm haha. When I was in my early 20s I was throwing head kicks effortlessly. Thanks for the tips Gabriel gonna work hard to try and get these down hah.

Im orthadox, but i find my technique on my left leg is so much cleaner and sharper than my right leg. I dunno if its because ive traditionally used my left for jabbing kicks and distance, and the right just to go in with the emphasis of power as opposed to the rightful timing and placement. Good video, thank you.
@burt280011 күн бұрын
I found that having less space to accelerate the kick forces you to get better at using what you have.
@ArtistDaynz9011 күн бұрын
Probably because you are a natural southpaw but stand ortho because you were told to stand with your strong hand in the back. Stand which ever side feels natural. Especially if it's in something that involves kicking.
@anonymerdude450110 күн бұрын
@@ArtistDaynz90 For me standing southpaw feels natural for my arms and standing orthodox feels natural for my legs...
@roymunson110 күн бұрын
@@ArtistDaynz90I've actually wondered that the last few weeks especially. I genuinely think I was conditioned into being orthadox, and I mean before childhood. In boxing I was what you call a left handed orthadox. Sounds ridiculous i know, but my natural and best flow was always using my right as a solid thudding jab and my left followed through very sharp and crisp with equal power. I only switched to mma about 10 years ago, but following the above, you can see where it has caused me issues. Very comfortable off both feet, but my supposed power side has very little to no technique once I'm fatigued.
@roymunson110 күн бұрын
@@burt2800thanks Bert. I found that too. Harder to acknowledge or entertain that in a hard spar, but will work on space and zoning with your message in mind when open sparring.

1:10 I just tried this at work and wondered "WHY IS THIS SO HARD AND HURTING SO MUCH... Oh, right." I'm wearing steel toed boots. 😅 Still hard without them though. It also doesn't help that my lower body is sore from a resistance training session yesterday.
@WritingandFighting11 күн бұрын
I have the strength to do these can barely get it to hip level (like the lowest level), let alone the raise to head level. Leg flexibility is a big problem for me and no amount of stretching seems to work. I'm basically limited to mid level front kicks. I don't even try low round kicks in sparring because I'd just wind up losing time.

Hi Gabriel how are you doing . Can you make a video about an Egyptian karate player named youssef badawy I want to hear your opinion about his kicks and how can someone reach that level he literally uses his legs like hands it’s mind blowing 😂🔥
@jty199911 күн бұрын
I cannot get the chambered leg hold above my waist - it just won’t stretch high enough. Not a strength issue, I just can’t get my hips to open. I’ve done so many different strength and stretching exercises and have not seen any improvement in range of motion.
@zachproffitt730410 күн бұрын
Could be your hip flexors aren't strong enough, or your joint has impingement. Skateboarding and biking your entire life will contribute to this, unfortunately. Try a split machine and keep working on hip stretching that also activates the hip flexors.

Can do. My issue is straightening the leg after I bring the knee up high. Tight hamstring tendons maybe?
@jty199911 күн бұрын
Could be a lot of things. the straight leg hold is easier for me than the knee hold bc I struggle to open my hips due to inflexibility. Could be balance, could be strength issues, could be both. Could also be mobility.
