I’ve kickboxed for about 17 years and I’m 40 now. I’ve fought only 4 times. There were a lot of times where life got in the way…and I’ve gotten in my own way. I’ve gained enough knowledge over the years where I’m going to start coaching at the gym I train at currently. I might have one more fight in me but since I’m 40 I really don’t want to spar hard and get hit in the head a lot. I love Muay Thai and kickboxing so much and I’m going to keep it in my life forever. It’s been there through my darkest times

I’m turning 42 in 3 weeks. I’ve done martial arts in the past but started kickboxing again about a year ago. I watch your videos daily and I feel greatful for them. The only thing I’m blessed with is good genetics, the rest is still good old falling and getting up again. Thank you for being part of my journey.

Thanks Gabriel, I took a life threatening injury and have been on the fence about fighting one match. Coming from a very privileged background, people in my community view combat sports as a high risk low reward activity to avoid. I beg to differ, it’s one of the few opportunities where mommy and daddy’s money don’t mean jack, it’s an opportunity to really show what one’s mind is truly made of. I’m in the process of building up cardio and conditioning, many bumps along the way but still improving.

I'm about to turn 39, I had my first fight at 36. There were so many obstacles. First, I got injured and had to pull out, then my opponent get injured. The 3rd time around, I got food poisoning before my match. Next my opponent missed weight and our match was canceled because of it. It took 5 times, before I finally got that match!

Trying real hard to get into smoker shape but I sprinted through the family startup with 2 kids in the past 4 years, def makes it tough to get in old man shape 😂 Smokers sound dope tho and more my speed, I’ll get some in through my 40s for sho. Thank you Gabriel! I'm 26, 27 in some months, and studying seriously for various degrees has officially ended my free time. But as soon as I finished my studies (at 28) I want to get back and kick ass. I've been training in Kudo since I was 20 and I was considering going amateur in MMA because I love it, but kickboxing could be more realistic.

Progress has been slow at times but finally feel like I’m making progress and can hold my own in sparring with the younguns in the gym! Age is just a number never forget… finally thank you Gabriel for the 14 minute kicking flexibility video from a couple of years ago, absolute life saver! 😅

Also, IDK about kickboxing, mma, etc. but USA boxing has Masters for 35+ with no professional fights. It's worldwide. 16oz gloves and matched by weight, age and experience, so it's pretty safe.

Some people wonder why I train every day in something, at minimum 1 hour but ideally 2 hours even if that's just mobility work and light training. I'm 35, so competing non-professionally in BJJ & MMA isn't impossible, but I have to be disciplined and focused on those goals before the possibility slips away. That said, my long-term goal is being a coach and self-defense instructor, so competing isn't a necessity, but I would like to have that experience.

My opponent backed out and chose another opponent my other opponent backed out this week the week of fight week. I just talked to you Gabriel about sending you a clip of my videos I was so ready Saturday I spent a lot of money on camp working 2 jobs literally dead broke spending money on rides to training and extra work and getting prepared jogging doing cardio hitting mitts doing extra sessions. It depressed me I only went 2 days this week to training. I really needed this, especially in my area kickboxing and Muay Thai isn’t as big (I live in the south, NC) I wish it was more bigger because the potential could be more popular than boxing, Gabriel thank you I’ll keep pushing OSU!

You still get props for stepping in there. Lots of people would be too scared to lose in front of a big crowd especially to a smaller guy. Respect. I would train more and stay away from fights that early notice. Thats just my opinion though.

The timiiinnggg😮😮. So im 17 now and i wanna figth. My story is that i think i started around 15 and i was gonna have my first fight at 16 but i injured my back very very bakddllyyy. Anyway it healed amd i was bummed out cus no fight😂😂😢😢.. and later i had to take off training for a very long time because i had some kind of skin or bone infection or something like that. It healed kinda amd i went back to training.then i infured my big toe and took again restweek. It heamed ofc. Then i injured my back agaiiiinn😮😮😮😮😂😂😢😢😢.. gues what. It healed. Now gues againg i 😂 injured it againggggggg😮😮😮. Now im home sitting in sadness because i cant train because of my infured back. The thing is that im the type of fuy who loves to train like it keeps me fired ut yk. And if i camt train then idk what to do and im kinda sad. On the other hamd its good to have rest but i had enoufgh rest these monthsss. Also i went to doctor and he was worried that theres nothing whrong with my back but with my brain or hips. He thinks that i have got some head trauma from training. But im bery sure that i havent got any because i also like gabriel like to focus on defence alot and i havent been hit in the head many times. So im sure there is something wrong with my back. So thank u gabriel for some more motivation and inspiration on and to my dreams. Also what are your thoughts on my story😂😂
