At last some real world shooting and not fully supported bench rest gun accuracy testing. In my real world especially at lambing time roaming around the land looking for predators attacking lambs l rarely get much time to get on target and release the shot and whilst leaning against a tree etc or deploying a trigger stick is a great bonus, in truth that is a rare treat. Your presentation is in my opinion an excellent demonstration of the off hand skills needed for true marksmanship, thank you.

Thank you William. Yes indeed, while I believe bench rest shooting is a great demanding and competitive sport - it doesn't have a great deal of relevance when you have to grab your rifle/shotgun and just simply go do a job of work, and be immediately effective in any weather and terrain.

Reminds me of this from the Dark Tower: "I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eye. I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I shoot with my mind. I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father. I kill with my heart." As for shooting off hand. One of the main things is not to hold the breath. Try to time the shot so the Cross hairs drop onto the target in the natural pause between inhalation & exhalation. Not easy to learn but once mastered you'll never hold your breath on a shot again. All about timing both breathing & reticle alignment.

Really good video. It's very easy to obsess about shooting tiny groups at longer and longer ranges, because that's what most online content is about. With a springer it's hard to do, so you do the same thing over, and over, and over to tighten the groups. Eventually it's no longer fun, it's a chore. I ditched the bench a few days ago, and that's what brought me here. You're right, get that rifle off the bag, get used to moving it around, see how POI shifts with different positions, don't get upset about perfection and start to enjoy shooting again. 👍

Another great video! Thorough I enjoyed this and perfect advice. I picked up the technique from somewhere to breathe in slowly let the crosshairs rise and then breathe out slowly and let them lower and as they lower over the target, ideally as you come to the end of the breath squeeze the trigger and try to hold it in that position for as long as possible. I found a fairly gentle hold on the rifle and gentle breathing the was to go. Especially for springers. Just what worked for me. Very similar to what your describing here. Your a great shot my friend and it’s really good to see someone giving some actual real world advice. I’ll take these videos over some guy clamped to a bench rest any time. Your displaying actual skill here 👌🏻

Another really helpful and content-rich video, thank you! I always loved shooting from different positions, often with some fast heart rate activity between each position, with the aim of hitting the target and not worrying about grouping. Now I've re-started airgun shooting, I think I may have got a bit hung-up on practising my grouping to reawaken all that old muscle memory. That's all well and good, but you have reminded me of the joy and importance of shooting from alternative positions - and all kinds of them (thinking of all those survival/resourceful/adaptive practices). Thank you!

Hey drew absolutely love all the content in your videos, you got me back into airrifles, watching the way you customised the cp2 i went out and bought 2 of them in a .177 and another in 2.2 for ratting in the allotments where i live. I also bought a smk xs78 (another co2 rifle) as couldnt afford a decent pcp. This is wisdom that applies to firearms as well. If you can shoot a springer well, you will be amazing with a firearm. Firearms are not as touchy. Springers are the most unforgiving platform you can learn to learn to use, and that is a good thing.
