They wanted to make his 1-shot combo more reliable without making him an OP tank buster. They realized the 1-shot combo was too easy with dmg buff so they replaced it with the more reliable pellet spread (now u still gotta take ur step forward and meelee 250 hp characters with some aim, but if u do its reliable, unlike before)

@@DeathForSk8 i checked it, and on characters like sombra or moira if u dont take like 2 steps (giving them time to TL/fade) then u almost cant get the one shot. mostly cuz of the fixed pellet spread he has. good job blizzard

I have an idea for a nice middle ground for hog. He does 150 damage now a shot. So what if they just give him 2 more pellets of damage, 162 in total. It’ll be less than the 175 from before and will make him a little more consistent than he is now. Lmk thoughts on this

Why? Hog is still good if you nail that hook/shot combo. the change to shotgun spread makes his damage more consistent. The games I had with him since the patch have not been bad. Yeah I would rather have his extra ammo and fire rate back for sure but he is manageable still

It does 125, with about 1/5 the spread, at 50% faster projectile speed, with half the pellets, making it much more consistent, especially against Hog's far larger hitbox. He also gets 6 shots with alternate fire, compared to Hog's current 5. Agreed though, they should revert the hog nerfs to fire speed and ammo.

He also has a turret that has a 40m range, doesn't miss, and can be forced to fire at what you are killing. He also has 100 armor on command that at the same time ups his speed and rate of fire...you have to account for the fire rate especially as while in overload he does stupid high dps with right click even before his turret is considered. I had to double take when I saw that they actually BUFFED him last patch, as he has needed a bit of a nerf or partial rework for some time now.

There's so many busted ass heroes in this game with insane ranged damage output, auto-pilot game-winning ults, and insane mobility. And they're worried about the fat slow hog who has to be super close up to pull off his one-shot who can barely do follow up damage with zero mobility. Nerfing take a breather down to 200HP, or making it take longer to heal, or maybe it doesn't contribute to ult charge as quickly, would've been the big brain options to nerf him while still leaving him viable.

I don't get why they didn't at least give back his old fire rate and ammo amount. A good hog player could still get reliant one shot combos on squishes and 250s if you shot them once before.
