That last tip is huge! Trying a new obstacle/style can be frustrating but also lowers the bar to get that progression dopamine!

I try to jump over to some fundamental that I know I’ve missed. If it helps to write some down and keep in your car or wallet. Get stuck, pull out your list of things you probably should know better but don’t and work for that small win and then snowball!

100% I'm 37 and been skating for about 1.5 years. I have a pretty solid and consistent ollie but some days I'll just be jumping off the board and get no pop yet I can do other ollie based tricked. Couple weeks ago I was working on board slides and was getting on the rail every single time. Rail was like 18" so not tall but definitely not short. I couldn't get a decent ollie for the life of me that day. I couldn't comprehend wtf was going on lol.

Same, when I have that problem of consistency, i usually just rest a little bit, and try it again, keep the grinding

Quit skateboarding because of mental health issues not realizing how being there everyday for years with the homies helped my mental health (and physical health) tremendously. Just starting again now but I am in a whole new city, hopefully I can find some homies to skate with because that definitely push you forward. Any crazy gap or crazy trick I learned was never because I hyped myself to it, it was always the homies telling me I could do it. Is crazy how much we can sell ourselves short and the homies definitely help you see that, off the ramp going really fast I was getting about 6ft air with indy’s but if we put a cone in the way I’d miss it lol In situations like that I always had somebody show me how I was tripping and get me to commit and do it.

First tip is super helpful, I'm gonna try and get tricks on every obstacle at my park, 2nd tip is tough, cause my homies now live off continent, and 2 stopped skating. But my homies came down for December season and I really understand the hyping each other up, cause I've been skating the down rail more and sending it Switch more Good video

Biggest thing in not progressing is your ego and worrying to much on what people think of you... i fjnd most people dont pop tricks or practice what they are not good at due to people watching.. witch then puts you in a spot where you are skating alone with no motivation to do so... witch then leaves one to give up or remain where they are

Hey Austin I know that this is unrelated to this video and that I might be annoying you but I bought some dkl gen 7 grip on Christmas and set it up but sadly it has almost peeled up completely and I can’t skate it 😢. I inset it more than a quarter of an inch and yet after flip tricks and bowl skating it has peeled of the board. I feel like it was a problem from the skate shop in Australia, didn’t buy it straight from dkl. To describe it there is two parts, the glue base and the rubber base. It hasn’t peeled like other people have experience but the rubber has let go of the glue base (the glue base hasn’t peeled up like others have witnessed). I hope you can give me some advice and I am going to write a letter to the skate shop and dkl skateboarding. Peace out Dale ✌️🤘
@dalealeale26382 жыл бұрын
Also I have had the old version of this grip and it hasn’t peeled. On my old deck after skating it for a year.
@AustinSK8NYC2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that it had peeled up. The only thing I can think of is insetting it even more than a quarter. I do mine right between a quarter and a half inch . I would definitely reach out the shop and see if you can talk to DKL👍
@dalealeale26382 жыл бұрын
@@AustinSK8NYC thanks man but I think it is a manufacturer problem because the rubber is splitting from the glue and if I didn’t inset it it would peel both the glue and the rubber together leaving the whole thing off but for me it is only the rubber

No joke… back in the day I would get stuck on certain things , no matter what and at times it would almost be WORSE if I just kept trying and trying and trying because I would be practicing it the wrong way over and over and just be tiring myself and burning myself out…. Now legit if I didn’t skate for an entire week (which was REALLLLLLLLY really hard to do, back in school I was legit addicted to skating) but after a week or close to that so many days off, when I got back on the board it was like, I could try a nunch of different foot positions and it all felt good and felt the same as regular because That ONE way of skating that I was stuck on wasn’t ingrained into my muscle memory anymore….. (This is going to make ZERO sense for people who don’t skate.. and still won’t even make sense for a few people that do skate🤣🤣🤣 I’m sorry I wish I knew how to explain it better) perhaps just getting back on the board after so long I was just so fresh and so damn happy maybe I just had a better mindset 🤷🏻♂️ 🤷🏻♂️ 🤷🏻♂️
