How To Improve Your Skateboarding Faster
This is essentially just a list of things to keep in mind when you are learning to skateboard. These are all tips that have helped me along the way; some are practical things you can apply while actually skating and others are more about different ways to view the learning process. Either way, I hope that you can take away at least one small thing from this video that will help you progress a bit more quickly with your skateboarding!
As always, thank you for watching and I will see you next time! :)

Yeah true. One of the very few that are thorough and specific enough to really get something out of it. Of course, it will never take away the time spent on a board just learning the trick. But plenty of those videos where they say jump, flick and land are just bordering on the ridiculous. I mean, most beginners will understand the front foot in a kickflip has to 'flick'. It's the _how_ part or timing part that is valuable, not the 'do a flick' part indeed.

I remember getting a skateboard a 1 or 2 months ago I think I skated around the street for about 1 or 2 weeks and then stopped because I didn't have anyone else to skate with and it got a bit boring currently retrying it and learning how to shuv it instead of skating in the narrow road I've decided to start waking up early and going to the basketball court to skate there I'm still pretty lonely but its whatever

Here is some off the tips I've learned trough the years : 1. Don't force yourself to improve. Work on your tricks but don't worry if it's not clicking. Usually, progress comes in waves. 2. Don't skate when you are tired. Make sure that before you go out skating, you are feeling well and rested. Find a good stretching routine if you feel stiff. 3. Watch skate videos. Find who's your favourite skater/ team and watch their stuff. It will get you motivated to skate more. 4. Support other skaters around you,be hyped on their skating. People will appricate it and will do the same for you. 5. Put the time in. The more honest you are with you skating, the more time you put in the better you will be. Is that simple. 6. Have sessions where you are only having fun and doing the tricks you know how to do. Even if that just means skating around. Not every session should be a battle for a trick. 7. Commit. If you are trying a trick, there is no point in doing it over and over again if you don't eventually commit. Try it out, test it out but eventually commit to it. 8. No matter your level of skating, your skating can be just as important as someone who's been skating for years. As long as you are going for it,skating hard, you are on the same level ! 9. Skate as much as you can 10. I'll write this last but I think is the most important one. Find ways to build your confidence. Not just on your board but in general. Having confidence can make or break your skateboarding.

Great video. Im 34 and starting to skate again after 16 years. Ive recognized each of these issues relearning myself. Ive also learned that practicing bailing on a trick and even learning how to fall, roll and all that has made skating less painful and frustrating, while also helping me to commit my feet. Honestly I will take my board out and kick it around, jump on and off, and basically make it my b$%&@, and now my feet are comfortable, my knees work right, and I get a Boss feeling over my board. I cant believe I ever stopped! What a great way to de-stress, get exercise, and even connect with your kid or even the neighborhood hoodlums. The best release. Thanks again for the video!

Yea but im tired of seeing literally the most insane shit ever done on a skateboard every time i open instagram. I love the videos of people taking forever to land a good trick like a heelflip or something like that because it gives me motivation to want to learn the tricks im working on. I saw this guy that skated for toy machine who ollied onto this metal barrier surrounding a garden that goes in a circle and he rode that shit around like twice. Yea it was cool asf but not motivating at all because that was just a level that seemed impossible to reach. Like it puts my dreams of being pro in the dirt if im ever gonna be getting compared to these guys who will continue to get better as well as me. Great video! Some great reminders in there. As someone who just came back from a 15 year hiatus, relearning the foundation and balance is becoming a huge step for me to get more comfortable with tricks. Also, great point on not comparing yourself to other people. When I used to skate with friends 15+ years ago, we each had things we were good at. I was the expert on the rail going down the 4set at the park, while one friend was great at transition, and another was good at flip tricks and manuals. We all sort of helped each other get better in other areas, it was great.

bit unrelated, but if anyone could chime in: one of my trucks tends to always turn to the right when its in front so when i push, the board tends to drift to the right and i end up losing my balance. ive tried putting consistent pressure to try squishing the bushing, tried repositioning the bushing, and i believe i tried readjusting the truck mount but i cant seem to fix it. the only solutions i have are to either put my front foot on the far left when pushing to counteract the right turning or to use the other truck at the front. love ur videos btw, was glad to see a new upload. ur tutorials are so detailed and intuitive. especially the ollie, almost no other tutorial gets the minute details of what u should be doing

I’ve landed a few but never managed to roll out…has anyone got any tips on how to keep my front foot out on them, that’s all I’m doing wrong to not land them, I’ve slow motion video’d’ my tre attempts like 1000 times and it seems that’s my main issue is just my front foot not fully committing all the way out forward? Not sure if maybe it’s my weight distribution too? I think I’ve taken from this video that I need to warm up a little more before trying them, and maybe focus on getting my varials consistent before I fully can commit to tre’s. Be safe everyone, skate and have fun 🤘🏻

love the vid bro, especially the part "dont get mad at yourself" XD been on deck for about 6 months now. getting really frustrated ( reeeallly frustrated) because I can't seem to land my tre double flip, fakie bigger spin, etc. people look at me like im an idiot for not seeing that its already awesome I built up the muscle memory to even perform these flips/spins. but I always seem to dodge a land with my back foot. been doing kick flips since the first month, but I also broke my ankle and fibula couple years ago on my first day of skating. so 5 yrs later I figured I should try again and im in love once more. but I feel that mental block which has an attitude of " I will kick in whenever I feel like it" making it so I can land tight kick flips at one moment. and completely lack the commitment part at another. this mostly goes for backside tricks and flips. I get chickenfeet and dodge the land with my back foot, making it so that I get the ultimate frustration of performing the trick to a T and nicely underneath me and yet, at the moment of a land, my back foot goes auto pilot and swoops to the side/back to avoid a complete land. its really messed up, because at this point I can do a tre double flip with the same effort as a kick flip but I land em both the same, with front foot on the deck and back foot next to it... so im really trying to find that button.. and why I do commit when popping a pretty high pop shuvit, either fs or bs, when chances of it flipping primo is just as plausible as having it land primo with a flip trick. man sorry for the long text, maybe someone can find him/herself in this story as well, that "last moment one foot bail out".... sounds like a trick tho rite? "kickflip 2 Late back foot bail out". XD ait everybody best of luck and lotsa motivation to y'all , all feet on deck!!

Glad I've spent most of my sessions just trying to dial that trick. Also the don't be afraid to try random tricks is big as well. I have something to say... at 4:20 when he says don’t compare your self to others he just means don’t put yourself down. Comparing your progression to others is a good way too advance by seeing what others have done to progress and learn!

2:40 amazing and very important tip that exact thing happened to me i had my ollies down decent enough to go up curbs and go down stairs but then i went straight to kickflips after and then i stopped being able to do decent ollies but now ive gained them back decently enough while i still mostly practice kickflips

Stay consistent. Probably the biggest tip. Aside from switching up foot positioning or improving basics or using the nose instead of the tail.. once I learn a trick or work on a trick if I keep trying the next couple of days it’s insane how much your body will adjust. Stay consistent and they’ll stay for good

25 years after I learned to ollie, literally 2 months ago I started almost desperately wanting to skateboard out of nowhere, and I got into it, so hard to balance life now without the support I had when I was young, and I skateboard every day I can usually at least get a little chance to get out there
