Even if Dan meant 'Helium is intangible', he would still be wrong. 'Helium voice' works because sound (air vibrating) travels slower through our atmosphere (oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases mixed in) than when you fill your mouth with Helium.

Feels like this could be easily resolved if you tell Dan about how heavy things feel in the hands, speak in his language, Y'know? Holy fuck i finally understand what dan is trying to say: helium does not have a constant density, filling a milk jug with helium could mean one helium atom and a vacuum. So this analogy can only work with objects of defined volume. I dont know what he means by helium isnt matter but i understand why he wont put it in a milk jug
