I hope the script gets decoded in our lifetime. Indus is known as Sindhu in Indian languages. The very word Sindhu in Tamil means "To spill"(usually water or any liquid) in an apparent reference to the water from the Himalayas spilling into the vast plains of northern part of the Indian sub-continent. The artifacts discovered recently in Tamil Nadu also have scripts that closely resemble the Indus script. It's only natural why there's renewed interest among Tamils.

The Indus Valley script has already been decoded. Its language is Sanskrit. Sindhu in Tamil or any Indian language has a meaning because Tamil and all other Indian languages are derived from Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the parent language of all Indian languages. Dravidians are scattered all over India. They are concentrated in Southern Indian Staes of Karnataka, Andhra,Telegana and Kerala with the majority of them in Tamil Nadu. They are also found scattered all over India , Odisa, Bengal,Punjab, Maharastra,Hariyana etc in lesser numbers , especially among the tribals. In the long run, archeology in India should move from Centralized management by ASI. What is essential is that the approach is scientific and systematic, and the findings are published openly for peer review.

Indus valley is partly pictography not script. Indus seals has many Tamili scripts as well. For example to denote stars fish symbol used in it. In Tamil we call stars as (vin-meen) means as fish of the sky. Most names in Tamil are derived from metaphors similar to Chinese. You can't relate Tamil vocabulary to Sanskrit which the language just borrows every word from various languages. Many researchers have already decoded it. We can give many examples to show that Sanskrit itself was created by Tamil siddhas. Sanskrit itself is a Tamil word. Samam+ Kirutham (Both Tamil words) meaning Equaliser + script= Sama s kirutham =Samaskritham= Samskrit= Sanskrit. The culture prevalent in ancient Tamilnadu and the rest of India were and are in no way significantly different from each other. Tamil language owes its origin to Rishi Agastya. The people of ancient Aryan society often engaged in wars among themselves as well as against the non-Aryans. Among themselves they fought over wealth and prestige and over the predominance of the group of various sages, and against the non-Aryans they carried on cultural crusades. These crusades were finally responsible for the formation of the present day Indo-Aryan culture, a synthesis or compromise among the various schools of thought such as Dravidian, Mongolian, Austric, etc. During the composition of the Vedas these cultural clashes and expeditions for world conquest continued unabated; and during these expeditions the Aryans did not go as angels of peace but as warriors mounted on chariots. That is why examples of chariots were frequently cited to acquaint people with different trends of life of that age. In olden times, when the Aryans came to India, there was no compact social order in the land of India. The population of India consisted of small or big tribes of Austric, Dravidian and Mongolian origin. An absolutely different race (Caucasian Aryans) [i.e., Mediterranean Aryans from Caucasia] came to India. They brought with them the Vedic lifestyle and language; and the Vedic administration, social order and methods of warfare. They began to use the derogatory word Anárya [non-Aryan] for all the indigenous people of India. Slowly India was divided into two clearly different mental structures. One was the sentiment born of the vanity of the victorious Aryans, and the other was the sentiment created by the inferiority complex of the vanquished non-Aryans. Thus, two nations were formed in India - the Aryans and the non-Aryans. Years rolled on. As a result of contact with the non-Aryans, the Vedic language of the Aryans underwent a change. Different regional languages came into existence. All efforts to avoid blood relations between the Aryans and the non-Aryans proved futile. Racial blending between the Aryans and the non-Aryans took place. n ancient India, before the arrival of the Aryans, the matriarchal system of inheritance as well as the matrilineal order of society was in vogue among the Austric and Dravidian communities. The people of those prehistoric times used to identify themselves in terms of their motherʼs lineage, and as such used to take on the name of their mother, grandmother or great-grandmother. If one was asked, “Who are you?” one would have to give oneʼs motherʼs, grandmotherʼs or great-grandmotherʼs name. Along with this matrilineal order, the matriarchal system of social inheritance, whereby the daughters would inherit the property from their mothers, was also in vogue. Two thousand years ago, the motherʼs name was considered the most important factor in naming a child. For instance, Lord Buddhaʼs two main disciples were Sáriputta and Mahámaggallan Arhan. “Sáriputta” means “the son of Sári”. His motherʼs full name (these people were all from Magadha, incidentally) was Rúpasári; and thus the sonʼs name became “Sáriputra” in old Sanskrit. In Prákrta, it was changed to “Sáriputta”, just as the Sanskrit word “Rájaputra” became changed to “Rájaputta” in Prákrta (and “Rajput” or “Rout” [common surnames] in modern languages). And in the second case, the motherʼs name was Mahámaodgalii in Sanskrit, which became “Mahámaggali” in Pali. Her son was thus known as “Mahámaggallan” Arhan. Here is another example: Once a merchant promised, as per the direction of Buddha, that he would build the new capital city of Magadha near the confluence of the Ganges and the Sone Rivers. The name of that merchant was Pát́aliputra,(5) because his motherʼs name was Pát́ali. This demonstrates that ancient Indian society followed the matrilineal order. Thus Arjuna(6) was popularly known as Pártha [“the son of Prthá”]; he was also called Kaonteya [“the son of Kunti”].
