I think Texas deserves to be favored as a Georgia fan. They’ve looked like the better team and they’re at home. Kirby said in his press conference the other day that Texas reminds him of some of Georgia’s best teams and I can see why. They’re great along the lines of scrimmage while having great team speed, athleticism, and skill. Georgia does present a different challenge to anything Texas has faced thus far. Texas has the #1 passing defense in the country in YPA allowed, but here are the opposing passing offenses they’ve faced and where they rank in YPA- Colorado State (98th), Michigan (132nd), UTSA (120th), ULM (118th), Miss State (36th), and Oklahoma (122nd). The one respectable passing offense they’ve faced was Miss State, and that came in Van Buren’s first start. Georgia’s passing offense is ranked 24th, a major step up. I’ve seen great Georgia defenses over the years get shocked by great passing games because they’re not used to facing them, and I can see something similar happening to Texas with the way Georgia’s OL has played in pass protection and Beck has developed connections with Dillon Bell and Arian Smith. I also think Georgia athletically is on a different level to anybody Texas has faced, whereas Clemson and Alabama do have very talented overall rosters. Georgia is the more battle tested team and they’ve dealt with adversity already this season. If Texas gets down early, it’s unknown as to how they’ll respond. With that said, what concerns me for Georgia is that Texas has a major mismatch between their passing game and Georgia’s secondary. Ewers was clearly off and rusty against Oklahoma, but I’m expecting him to be ready to go for Georgia, and Georgia’s DBs really struggled against Alabama and Miss State. Georgia’s pass rush hasn’t been dominant and I don’t expect them to be in this game against a great Texas offensive line. This is the biggest game in DKR Stadium since they played Ohio State in 2006 from a combined ranking standpoint. I’ll be making the trip to Austin for this one and I can’t wait to see it. It’s a classic uniform matchup between two excellent teams and programs. My head says 31-27 Texas. My heart says 34-31 Georgia. Think it’s a back and forth game either way.

The Horns secondary is massively improved from last year. The weak links from last year, Brooks and Thompson, are gone and have been replaced by a couple of studs in Barron and Makuba, respectively. I really don't think the Texas secondary is a weakness. They'll def give up some yards this game but I don't see GA getting a bunch of explosive plays as Texas will focus on preventing that and force GA to put together longer drives to score.

Guys, for me it’s all about the line of scrimmage. The best D-Lines and O-Lines we have seen this year have been Michigan’s and Oklahoma’s. I think both Michigan’s and Oklahoma’s D-Lines compare favorably to Georgia’s this year because the Georgia D-Line isn’t as good as the dominating D-Lines we have seen from Georgia’s past. Offense only happens if we win at the line of scrimmage. Sacks only happen for Texas if we win at the line of scrimmage. I think we can beat Georgia at the line of scrimmage because this is the same O-Line for Texas that beat Bama last year at Bama and now Michigan and Oklahoma at the line of scrimmage this year.
