I love this move because it shows us that front office thinks that these three are ready to possibly be called up next year or in 2026 and can hopefully contribute to a winning team

Start getting them acclimated to higher level pitching just in case any injuries on the major league roster happen or getting them ready for the rosters to expand in September. I believe Nico is as good as gone in the offseason. It makes zero sense to keep him at this point with Triantos, Cam Smith, and Shaw. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Swanson for a while.

Hoyer has no choice but to at minimum, project belief. And if the Cubs will stop taking called strike 3, and a first ball meatball down the middle for an 0-1 count? They do have a chance. They can pitch and play defense. Now? Hit.

Quick answer, absolutely not. This team was supposed to be able to contend per Hoyer and Ricketts. Thing is they were banking on nearly everything to go perfectly. This team in the playoffs would get swept in the wild card. It's frustrating they've been struggling the way they have this season because they missed the playoffs by a game an this was supposed to be the year where they start to actually contend. A lot needs to be done in the off season to improve the offense as well as add a legitimate closer and replace Hendricks rotation spot.

I live in Des Moines and I’ve seen baesteros play and the game I went to he went 2-4 with a double and called an excellent game and kept the opponent scoreless. He’s the future catcher for the cubs

Of the 4 choices the one most likely to be called up is Matt Shaw. Ballesteros would be the obvious choice if it was based solely upon hitting, but he's even worse than Amaya defensively. This year he only has a 10% caught stealing rate. He couldn't throw out Elly De La Cruz if he threw from the pitcher's mound.

Good defensive catchers don’t matter anymore, especially if it’s some like ballesteros because he slugs 900.

can't sleep on "bad" teams that we "should" sweep or take 2/3 from because those teams often are the most dangerous down the stretch when they have nothing to play for but their dignity and to spite the other team. happened last year with the rockies in september. the nats, for example, just took 2/3 from the brewers. but yeah, we've gotta beat whoever we can as much as we can, and there's still lots of baseball left. this team has the talent to pull it off, imo. but i think the division might be a better bet with the brewers, cards, pirates all shaky.

I estimate the Cubs winning 84 games give or take 2 in either direction. I can't remember the exact number but the Cubs have a crazy good record when they score at least 4 runs and they're playing 7 teams ranked 17th or worse in ERA and 9 teams ranked in runs 15th or worse. They finally seem to be figuring out who they are as a team so I feel the Cubs will at the very least make .500 or better by the end of the season. I think the three prospects being moved up is to give them some experience at that level but also to see who should be their September call ups. If the Cubs have a serious chance of making the post season they'll probably call up bullpen arms or one arm and one hitter. If they aren't, I think they'll give Shaw and Ballesteros a chance to get their feet wet in the big leagues.

Baseball is by far the most even sport where even college teams can beat pro teams on occasion. The Cubs have no chance in the void of honor and leadership left by the worst executive in sports. No talent will sign for the backstabber either, so get ready for years of losing unless hoyer's bosses finally make some good decisions and give him the boot. Even hoyer gets lucky occasionally in baseball where you can't go 0-16. hoyer only make harmful decisions so hopefully the kids stay in the minors until he's gone. He will ruin them.

As much as I love this team and want to see them in the playoffs I don’t believe that they will make playoff appearance this year because they still have some spots they need figure and not only the pitching is there but our bullpen needs some help and we need proven bat in the middle of our lineup. But who knows what will happen because last year the Dbacks were in the same position as us and ended up making it to the World Series so hopefully the cubs go on an absolute tear through the league but we will see what happens towards the end of September
