Z .. there's a guy on KZbin - DIY Perks - he created a "wireless" surround system with custom laser TOSLINK extenders - is that a project you might get in to?

I'd love to see a 2 part 6 hour journey trying to set that up.

This is a first. I actually bought something before Z put up his review! Can confirm that this set sounds amazing and meets all my needs in a desktop speaker set up. I've been comparing them with my existing Kanto's YU 4 Passive in a chain from my Mac -> Topping X3Pro+ -> Topping PA3s and the smaller(!) ORA 4's go lower, come across with a pleasant warmth, and have just a a better overall "presence." What initially attracted me to the ORA 4's was simplifying my cable and "knob" management since my existing chain produces a rat's nest of wires and gives me two more devices that I need to power down at night. Better sound was going to be a bonus, but the sound to size ratio is incredible! At full retail price of $399 it is a bit pricey like most of Kanto's line but the build quality is there in spades. If you can wait for a sale, you won't regret it. Z: I would love to get your take on the REN, which has the features you're looking for: optical in, a remote, and even HDMI ARC for good measure. I think this will be my "soundbar killer" when they eventually go on sale.

Ren is sitting on the floor behind me. So you will hear about it in the new year.

I was looking at these, but went with the smaller ORAMB's instead (when they went on the $50 discount). These were just a little too big to fit with my desk and two-monitor setup without doing something like putting them on their sides. I was pretty happy with ORA's, but it wasn't quite right. When the Sub8 went on sale, I got that and it's much better now. I'm not a big audio guy, so I probably can't explain it with the right words. But adding the sub made it a lot more forgiving on the audio quality. There were a lot more videos and songs that I'd play with just the ORA's where I'd go "Oh wow that doesn't sound good, they need to up their recording quality." But with the sub, I haven't noticed that as much. Now, if I could turn off that light on the front of the speaker while it's still running, that would be great. Edit: Now that I've had a bit more time with my setup and have thought about it more, I think the difference is: With just the ORA speakers, the low end was a lot more easily detectable in the sense that I could hear it coming from the speakers and locate it. But with the sub, that low end is not directional. So, if someone makes a puff of air sound because they don't have a pop filter, instead of hearing it come from my speakers it's still there but just as an directionless kind of thud. And now that I'm conscious of it, I'll probably start noticing it more again lol

I've been using the Kanto Tuk Speakers for my PC for a while now. I don't think they'll ever make something better.

@ You will love them...the only downside is the subwoofer out. It's a weak signal so if you do decide to add a subwoofer, get their subwoofer. I bought the Monolith 10 and then wound up getting a DAC/Preamp to be able to drive the subwoofer properly. The YU6 is every bit as good as the Tuk. I heard them afterwards and couldn't tell the difference in quality.

@GSP-76 I was going to get the sub8 down the road, but for now, I'm just using them for my desktop. Thanks for the information. That was very helpful!

Wonder how these compare to first Vanatoo speakers sound quality ? In your review the Kanto seems to sound better.

I have the T0e+ in place of these now and ... Jesus Vanatoo. But we will cross that bridge when we get there.

Are Kanto very overpriced compared to Edifier or Swan for the performance you get?

Kanto is US in origin but made in china.. The others are China owned.

Should have made the back of the stand solid to hide wires

I think its so you can wire other things UNDER the speakers.

its a misconception that studio monitors need to sound harsh and make all music sound unpleasant the reason why this misconception started in the first place is because of the NS10's which are very harsh sounding and very revealing speakers that are industry standard for most professional studios now why is that? well cause they're very very very low distortion.. why? cause they have no bass whatsoever lol bass + small drivers = distortion see... when you want real bass frequencies.. the SIZE of the speakers AND the SIZE of the room has to reflect the long low-frequency waves of subbass most people have no idea how long and wide a subbass frequency has to travel in order to actually create a subbass note for proper sub-bass frequencies to be played WITHOUT distortion, the speakers have to be HUGE! TITANIC! to push those long and wide waves of subbass so when you try and FAKE those low-frequencies on SMALL speakers you get RESONANT FAKE BASS which is just "Distortion" and distortion not only slows down the sound waves but it makes them muddy / grainy / out of phase / etc etc etc so in conclusion (I know I skipped a lot of steps) a true studio monitor can only fit in a HUGE house so for someone in a small room to listen to small (distortion-free) speakers they have to be NON-ported. no port no diaphragm no nothing. just a driver / tweeter and a closed box and that will always mean no BASS whatsoever and when human beings do not hear bass.. they hear everything else hhhh which gets translated to "oh no.. its so harsh and treble biased" when its not.. it just lacks bass but because the sound is distortion free.. the high frequencies are so fast and the decay is so short that by the time those EXTREMELY WEAK AND QUIET subbass frequencies reach your ears they are practically non existent compared to the loud and fast mids and treble notes my advice to everyone who wants perfection when it comes to actual sound: get rid of all these small speakers and just enjoy your HD600/650/660 in the meantime while you save up and get HUGE HUGE HUGE SPEAKERS that can actually PUSH sub frequencies WITHOUT ports or diaphragms and only then will you be able to FEEL distortion-free sub frequencies that aren't FAKED by resonant ports and what not cause subbass isn't heard.. its felt also please do not buy a high excursion subwoofer thinking its going to give you better subbass a true subbass driver is made with the most lightweight and thin materials ever.. even if its own size is huge

Let me guess, they need connecting to each other with a wire that is just too short... Passive unit.. yups... Let me guess they cost as much or more as real monitor speakers like the Adam Audio T7V . No thnx
@ZReviews13 сағат бұрын
I mean, a single volume knob and USB input puts them in a different class then someone willing to support studio monitors.
@annebokma463713 сағат бұрын
@ZReviews and the price makes them the same class. Footprint is about the same, specially if you elevate them like you should
