you should give the immersed app a try on your quest 3! The features are almost like the Vison Pro....almost. I compared some of the videos I've seen with the quest 3 and immersed and it is compared very well. As well as you can move windows around and resized them. The only downside (currently) is that you would need to connect to your computer remotely, via usb, or wirelessly.

Meta is probably paying close attention to what people are saying about AVP. Probably have a team on it. I would be surprised if they didn't have some AVPs in their labs and going over them (software and hardware) with a fine tooth comb to figure out what they need to do to compete.

To be able to place screens around just use an app like immersed. Up to 5 screens, that you can place around the room with passthrough.

Like all the 2d apps you can use by side-loading apps, how nice movies incl 3d content in the youtube apps is, getting work done in the workrooms office immersed or virtual desktop, sports and events in venues and xstadium and hanging out with a friend in your virtual environment, a horizon meetup or watching movies with family in bigscreen. I also scout out locations for trips ahead of time with woorld, with my family.

I play the piano, and its very playable in the quest 3, almost as easy as just playing without a headset. the FOV is slightly less than real vision so i can't see the very high or low end of the keyboard, but its still great that I can just have many pages of sheet music without trying to cramp it on the single music desk!

On app lab/side quest there already is a browser that lets you just spawn new windows and stick them to any surface in passthrough, they would stay in position if you walk around and you can have many more than 3 windows. Im afraid I forgot what it was called.
@shanecraigtech10 ай бұрын
Ooh, I'll look into that..
@c6jones72010 ай бұрын
It was the Oasis browser: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaiVo2eArplkq9E I used to have it on quest 2. Thinking about it something like that might actually be the future of VR productivity in general. You could place windows of whatever wherever you liked in the real world. Taking it one step further, some windows could could be 3d objects that you could pick up and use using webXR and other technologies. @@shanecraigtech

I was curious if you had any of the balance issues that most people encounter when wearing a VR/AR headset for an extended period of time. Any comment on that? I also find it a bit humorous to see people and even companies bragging about how the headsets can be used in factories and such. Yet the manufacturing warnings tell you "Do not use in areas where you need to be aware of your surroundings."
@shanecraigtech10 ай бұрын
No balance issues, per se. My biggest issue is just motion sickness. Any experience where my in-game avatar is moving while I am stationary in real life is a no-go.

Hand controls are great as long as there’s some amount of light. I’m referring to the quality of the video pass though and being able to do things like read your phone or just seeing things in general. Sometimes it’s super clear and sharp and other time I get this weird wobbly mess.

I’m a huge Apple sheep, more than I care to admit. But the Vision Pro just isn’t something that I have found myself interested in. I use everything else Apple, even went as far as making sure my car had Apple CarPlay. I use the Apple Card, I literally embody everything about this awesome ecosystem. I think for the same reason I didn’t like 3D tvs, requiring me to wear something to enjoy it, and the fact that I can’t enjoy it with others, I just have zero interest. I bought a Meta Quest 3, but so far I’ve used it mostly as just a fitness device with an app called Supernatural. I have tried a few games on it, but have not bothered with them since. When I watch tv, it’s mostly a group activity, which I can’t do with watching it in the Quest or Vision Pro. As for your example of building that thing with a screen in front of you, I’d just stick an iPad next to me.

I love the Quest 3, it does everything i need it to do as far as a VR headset is concerned...I would never spend $3500 on any VR headset on the planet, no matter what it does or no matter how much work i need to do on my mac. Just isnt practical...i havent seen one single feature on any of these videos that makes it worth anywhere near that price. Not one....i appreciate what Apple is trying to accomplish with it, but to me its just another cash grab scheme, simply because they know whatever price they choose to put on it...some people will buy it regardless. It is what it is...but i wouldnt be interested in upgrading at all from the Q3 until something comes out with complete FOV.

One of best things about Vision Pro that adds most of its value is the Apple ecosystem like there was so many times I wanted to use a certain app on quest and most times when I looked for an app I wanted it didn’t have it. But with my Apple Vision Pro it has everything I look up. Being able to just check twitter, answer texts, do phone calls and face time, listen to Apple Music and so much more has honestly made what I spent worth it. I bought it because I spend my days mainly watching tv so the Vision Pro was perfect for movies and tv. And that alone has been amazing but the ecosystem made it even better. Being able to control all my smart home devices from it is amazing as well
@shanecraigtech10 ай бұрын
To be clear, you can check Twitter, answer texts and listen to KZbin music on the quest. It is certainly fair to point out people who are heavily invested in happily consistent will benefit more from buying a device seated within the Apple ecosystem though.
@Matic3d10 ай бұрын
Not enough people realize you can sideload most android apps to Quest just like any android phone or tablet and they work fine. Sure the Apple ecosystem is super integrated compared to the android ecosystem, but you are also a captive audience who ends up paying thru the nose for the privilege on both hardware, accessories and software. I’m willing to skip facetime, and actually it turns out in quest3 i can hang out and watch movies or play pool with remote friends in quest3. I bought myself and a few family quest3 and still only spent a fraction of the cost and now we can all spend time together across the planet.

If all you do is gaming, the choice is pretty clear, you're not buying/using AVP. For everything else, the Quest 3 vs AVP question for a lot of people will be what level of quality are they willing to pay for. Everyone will have their own value standards and expectations and not everyone will be the same. That's why there are Free to $300 budget class phones as well as $1000 to $2000 high end phones. If you value premium, it's really hard to use a premium product and go back to a budge product. If that's not important to you, it's very easy and you're more than likely a budge device user anyways. There's no right or wrong, people just have different standards.
@MacTX10 ай бұрын
@@rangerkayla8824 I used to be well entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. I can't afford to be in the Apple cult. If I could, I would though. I never understood the hate some people have towards Apple. It comes across as jealousy most the time to outright hatred at other times. Very defensive response to anything Apple does. Apple has shifted the tech industry so often that jealousy does seem appropriate of a response from people who refuse to use their products. The response to AVP from Quest users has been the most intense of them all. Oddly, I can't completely fault them. I've watched them over the years from the early Oculus days to what it is now, they're a proud bunch. To have a company like Apple come along and set up a tent nearby to try and steal the show, I'd be angry too.
@Matic3d10 ай бұрын
But the thing most people havent realized is that this premium product cant do a lot that you can do with the budget product. And not just gaming. I have yet to see remote people watching movies together with AVP, something I do a lot with my quest. And playing xbox while watching 180 vr sports from my couch with a $500 device is pretty awesome…
