The issue with Soto is that he wants Ohtani money. The only player that should get Ohtani money and is worth Ohtani money is Ohtani. If you pay Soto 700+ million it's basically like tossing half of it in the trash because he won't help the team make that back. Soto does not have a whole country buying his merch and watching his games like Ohtani does.

With Ohtani you're getting a hitter and starting pitcher. He counts for two players. Soto is just a hitter and a decent outfielder.

I tuned out when you said Alonso should get as much money as Freeman. (Actually, Pete wants even more than Freeman.) Freeman is a far better player than Alonso.
@macsportsattack14 күн бұрын
@@GeraldM_inNC 😂🤣😂🤣 nah I said same per year as freeman. Way less years. In sports the person who gets paid most recent is the one who gets paid most. Salary is constantly moving up. So in a years time 27 mil will be like the 5th highest paid. This way we can convince him to stay but not have to lock him up forever. I definitely agree freeman is the better player. Also pete plays 162 games a season. Freddie does get hurt often. That factors in as well. But I def hear you ha

Even if the Mets did what you said I still think they’re a starter short and multiple relievers short and still a high average bat short someone to get on base

@@02phenom yea I think they still have plenty room financially with those acquisitions to add to the pen and starters. I just think these are the must haves. I mean Manea wasn't see as a great signing he even changed his pitching form, but ended up being a great move. I think we find some great bargain moves as well.

@@carlosadriangaitan4963 nah bro. Alonso love new york. Statistically always a top 5 1st baseman and loves the fans. Not everyone is built for the new york media and with soto in the lineup I feel like he'd be even better. Plus defensively every year he's improved. I'll take him back.

You realize we have the richest owner right? This is the wilpons Mets where u get one guy then can't afford the other. We were like the Yanks once steinbrenner bought them

@macsportsattack no you're quite right it's just I see ppl text as tho we're short on money and we're still in the wilpons era we definitely aren't. And you know about both those pitchers... Just those investments in those players, tho it didn't work was a good example of Steve c really trying to do the right thing. Now it didn't work like a bunch of moves the wilpons fid but we still got good results in the kids we got back for them. I'm telling you acuna is going to be all star 2nd base. In either way, you're quite right about proper spending but I'm very glad we have Steve as owner and I really believe and have hope that the NY Mets are going to have the best yrs they've ever had thru this org. It's amazing what sterns did to juggle the pitch staff and being guys in and get rid of guys like Lopez there with his glove and attitude. Things are going to be great competitive and lots of fun for Mets fans. LGM bro

None of that is going to happen. You also pronouncing Sean Maneas name wrong...lol. I understand Soto is very good but he won't be as good because he won't have anyone to protect him like he did with Yankees. Why you think Padres didn't sign him? Makes you wonder. I am a Phillies fan and I don't want him, I pray you take him. I would rather have a good defender and a decent hitter for a fraction of Soto money so this way during the year you can do whatever at trade deadline than have your hands tied because you gave Soto Ohtani money.

@@rob1977tank well guess what as Mets fans we don't give a rip what phillies fans want / think 🤷🏽♂️ also he wasn't "protected" in Washington was great.
