No disrespect to the Glock, but I would choose almost anything produced by H&K over any other manufacturer in the firearms business.Immaculate design, brilliant functionality and great finishing. A class act.

noobi core I bought the USP which was horribly uncrisp, the p30l which had wayyyy to long a reset, and the vp9 which was good. I really like the 226 legion trigger but that's kinda apples to oranges due to pricing.

As an HK fanboy; there is no need to ask the question; "Will the VP9 unseat the Glock?" I say, buy whatever you want to buy and carry whatever you want to carry for personal defense. It's all about what YOU like and prefer as an individual. I love my VP9 and P30 9mm's. I once had 2 G19's Gen 4's and traded them out for my HK's. Nothing wrong with them, they were just not for me.

I bought my VP9 about ten months ago and shoot twice monthly. I usually put 200-300 rounds per session, doing controlled pairs, hammer pairs, rapid fire (8 rounds in 4 sec) from all types of positions. NO stoppages or failures. Never once had any immediate actions much less remedial actions. The reset is just fine for me and I didn't make any adjustments to the grips at all. I have fairly large hands and the HK just melted into my hands. The HK is truly ambidextrous as the slide/lock release and the mag release work well for lefties (of which I am). I couldn't get any Glock to fit my hand comfortably. I have no beef with Glock, as I can shoot any gun with accuracy, but they just don't fit in my hand.

This pistol does not have a lot of take up! It is actually a very short take up. I've shot Glocks for years and love them, and yes, the Glock does have as good a reset, but the trigger system on the VP9 is far and away better than ANY other striker fire pistol. What I like about the VP9 over the Glock is the ergonomics, ambi-controls, and the trigger. I am far more accurate with the VP9, and I just like the way it looks better. Quality and reliability of HK is second to none also.
@oleboy76159 жыл бұрын
Well, I have since gone back to the Glock 19. Turns out the slide release lever is located right where my thumb rests, and I kept locking the slide back when shooting. I tried to compensate for it, but ultimately decided that I didn't want to change my grip to accommodate just one pistol. The Glock 19 fits me perfectly, and while it isn't necessarily the best made pistol in terms of craftsmanship, it is the best EDC/GP pistol for the money. They just work. So now I have the Glock 19.4, Sig P226 and the M&P Shield 9 for my stable hosses.

Now, it would be a serious implication of higher standards of quality/performance if you said you would pay more money for an HK if they were worth less than Glock. Glock makes thousands and thousands of handguns and does it well, H&K makes thousands and thousands of handguns and military weapons used all over the world. Glock is a toyota, h&k is a Mercedes Benz, both weapons function but after owning several usp handguns id never trust my life with anything else, they work everytime, without fail, under some of the worst conditions imaginable, something about them makes it feel like it's more of a custom made gun rather than a production made cookie cutter firearm.. . But of course, this is jmo

Although I still prefer the PPQ (especially at it's price point compared to the VP9) the VP9 was a very close 2nd out of all the striker fire handguns I've used. It's like a striker fire version of my P30. You really can't go wrong with the VP9. I'm actually looking at the VP9sk as my first subcompact gun.

@I_Might_B_Wrong10 жыл бұрын
I sold my PPQ and I carry a VP9. The PPQ had a slightly more crisp trigger but it was too light for comfort as a carry pistol. It also didn't have as aggressive a grip texture. It kept slipping around in my hands when they got even remotely slippery. The VP9 also allows for more grip customization on top of having the better texture. The P99 had a cocked indicator. The PPQ got rid of it for some reason, no idea why. The VP9 has the cocked indicator. The VP9 is just more refined and rich with features than the PPQ. It's a better overall package. Oh, and it's also German engineered. Heck, the two pistols are both tested in the same facility in Ulm, Germany!

I have owned an HK45 (Not USP), Sig Pro 2022 (.40S&W), M&P9c, etc. I personally like the Walther PPQ over the HK VP9. The only feature I like better on the VP9 over the Walther is the bottom of the grip. It is easier to pull the magazine out, however the Walther PPQ mags have anti-friction coating so they will fall straight out without any issues anyway. The Walther PPQ is smaller making it more comfortable for CCW. I love H&K weapons don't get me wrong but I personally think that Walther beat HK with this type of design back in 2011 (regarding the trigger). The Walther PPQ and HK VP9 are the most comparable. The only handgun that will "unseat" the Glock is the Glock. Unless the PPQ and VP9 come down $100-150. And I don't ever see that happening. My advice is instead of purchasing a new Glock buy a used PPQ or VP9.
@oleboy761510 жыл бұрын
Nothing against the PPQ, great gun! But my HK VP9 mags fall straight out also. I chose the VP9 only b/c I like the trigger better than the PPQ, but I was set to buy the PPQ before I got my hands on the VP9.

Nice gun, but I'll stick with my m&p. One thing to consider is customer support. If for whatever reason you have to send your gun back to the manufacturer to be serviced, smith and Wesson will have it back to you in a few weeks, many dealers can actually service Glocks in house, but with H&K you might as well kiss your pistol goodbye since you won't be seeing it for 6 months.

I'm a glock fanboy. I still like several other brands just as much though. FN makes some fanastic products. I consider HK's just as reliable as glocks, but with a much loftier price tag. When I see a 1,000$ HK, I think to myself, "Man, that is nice. But I would still rather have 2 glocks." I have not had any time with the VP9 or even laid eyes on one. But if HK can drop their price point down closer to what a Glock will cost, and maintain their level of quality, I could easily see myself picking up one up over a Glock on my next purchase.
@rustyshackleford1710 жыл бұрын
Alex Chumley Well there is one thing people have to realize when you get one. We got one at $630. Now, it already come with many things that people commonly do with their glocks, the "price disparity" is really non-existent. Metal iron sights Excellent factory trigger Metal recoil guide rod Excellent ergos (really only applies to those that do grip reductions and stippling job) Now I own a USP, I'll admit that they really aren't worth the price. I own the VP9 and a Glock also. I can say that the VP9 is worth it if you put a lot of aftermarket parts on it

Every glocks i own i put a KKM barrels in: Glock 20,21,17, 19, 29 and 30. Glocks are built with very lose tolerance my 10 MM's do have a bit of a problem with the factory barrel. I shoot Underwood +p+ ammo for my 9 mm's and 150 gain for 10 mm pushing 1500 fps and 775 ft. lbs at the muzzle and this causes some case bulging so I can not reload the 10's ( the KKM barrel fixes that problem and lets me shoot lead and reloads) thank you KKM. Glock Tells me running +p+ in my 9 MM will void my warranty because there is no SAAMI Ballistic spec for +p+. KKM tells me run what you want through our Barrels, Again..... thanks for the fix of my not so well built GLOCK. Also I have had to put Tungsten guide rods in my 10 MM's due to the fact the flange bends on the plastic factory guide rod with punched and riveted 1/16 of an inch metal Flange on the end. corrected by THE GLOCK store for $79.99, the cost of a gen 4 guide rod. Kinda funny the H&K's come with barrels that allow me to shoot lead have no lose tolerances and =p= is not an issue. BTW if you go this route with your Glock your closing in on a H&K price. Have fun and be safe.

I've fired the Glock many times but I chose thr HK because they had improved on many things. In the beginning Glock offered police departments guns for $1 each plus support and supplies. No department can refuse such an offer so one department after another bought Glocks. But HK sure elevated thr plastic body/striker fired pistols and surpassed thr Glock. It will be hard to up end the market dominance by Glock, but HK has a winner in the VP9.

Have plenty of Glocks. Great pistolas. Have Hk P30 in 9 & 40, P30L 9x19mm, Hk45 & Hk45c, and the VP9. Great pistolas, too, albeit pricier. One is well-armed with either brand, but my Glocks are for air travel, since one is just like another and no big loss if stolen by the luggage trolls. I carried the Glock (required) on the job many years, but now I am retired and carry an Hk P30 or Hk45C since they have a hammer and I carry AIWB. The Hk magazine release is better for AIWB too, as it is less likely to be unintentionally activated. I really like the VP9, but it is bigger than the P30. Mine came with factory tritium n/s and 3 magazines, but I still prefer to carry the P30 or Hk45C. Hands down, the VP9 will feel better in the hand than the Glock 17, but magazine prices being what they are and the fact that one can carry a G26 and/or a G19, and use G17 magazines for spares leads me to believe that Glock will still outsell HK.

PX4 Storm fan here even though I don't own one. I have an all steel Jerhico 941 (Baby Desert Eagle) in 45 ACP. FWIW... The HK laughably outclasses the Glock. I detest striker fire pistols but if I had to have one, it would be this one. Easy!

I stopped the video after he complained about the trigger. What a dummy! The takeup is minimal and easy to ignore if you are an experienced shooter. The break is crisp and reset is on par with a Glock. I have this exact HK, and sold my Glock. More features, better design, and better quality. I paid $550 for mine, and it replaced my E-series 1911 in conceal carry.

I don't agree with the statement that Glock has a better trigger. I have owned dozens of Glocks over the years and currently have a gen3 G31 and gen4 G26. I compared the G31 and G26 trigger side by side with my VP9. The Glock trigger is slightly longer in the take up and I hate how the trigger gets heavier as it gets closer to the breaking point. The VP9 trigger has a consistent feel in trigger pull weight all the way to the breaking point. I measured the trigger pull weights with a Lymann digital trigger pull gauge and this is what I come up with.G26 factory trigger 4# 14ozVP9 factory trigger 4# 12ozG31 4.5# connector and $.25 trigger job 3# 15oz (this is why I like gen3 Glocks)The numbers are low because I tested the triggers at the bottom of the trigger on each gun to get a more consistent trigger pull on each gun.

The FNX 45 Tactical is the only one of the FN pistols I've shot and I LOVE mine. I'm a 1911 guy, but the FNX is amazing! It'll actually be my sidearm as my backup gun on an upcoming hog hunt episode. 15 rounds of 45 acp! (And thanks for subscribing!) Here's a video we did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3ysZIGemduSl7s

WOAH!!! Did he just say the vp9 "has a lot of take up, a lot of slack"? How can you say that when comparing the vp9 to a glock? The glock has a lot of take up. By far the dumbest thing I've heard ever said about the vp9 trigger. I understand your a glock guy but can you please be realistic about what you say? You do know the camera is rolling right?
@markalbert81359 жыл бұрын
I went with the Walther PPQ instead. Better trigger overall, and it costed about $200 less. Anything the VP9 does, the PPQ does just a little better.

Last weekend I shot the VP9 next to a glock 19. VP9s trigger is CLEARLY much better, with a lot less take up and a crisp break. It sure sounds like this guy is very biased for glock. I ordered the VP9 a few days after shooting it and can't wait! Oh and I have literally shot a handgun once before these two... I was nearly set on a Sig 320c until I shot the VP9

Like asking, can a Ferrari unseat a Dodge Dart. Someone in the market for a high end pistol will not look or has already grown past a $500 Glock. Just the way it is.

If you're going to use one handed manipulation on the VP9, do NOT use the charging ears of the pistols. They will rip off easily. Ask me how I know. Get aftermarket night sights that have a ledge to it.

'Glock' produces good firearms, but sells more because it's cheaper... That's it!
@oleboy761510 жыл бұрын
Actually, not exactly. Glocks are cheap b/c they can make them cheap, but they are very proven to be extremely reliable, safe and simple pistols. That is why they sell so many. Otherwise, Hi-Point would have 65% of law enforcement market.
@PPSChadwick10 жыл бұрын
I think the only gun that compares truly to the Glock line is the M&P line. They typically run cheaper than Glock's, run just as reliable as Glock's, and have a longer history than the PPQ and the VP9. H&K's are great but it's still more expensive and the reliability vs the cost ratio doesn't match. Now let the flaming begin! :-)
@Biostasis5x710 жыл бұрын
I can't stand the M&P's. I've shot 2 belonging to other people(M&P45 and M&P9) and owed a M&P Shield 9mm. Their looks and style are great. They function flawlessly. Their triggers on the other hand are some of the worst I have ever operated. If the people at Smith and Wesson could stick a HK or Glock trigger into the M&P line...they would crush ALL competition.
@PPSChadwick10 жыл бұрын
The newest generation M&P's are getting stock triggers that are a lot better. But I will agree with you the older generations triggers were absolute dog shit!
@markshul0310 жыл бұрын
The VP9 has all the features of the M&P and more (interchanging side panes, fully ambi mag release) with a MUCH better trigger. Not to mention the fact that H&K was the first company to make a polymer framed striker fired pistol, and is one of the most prestigious gun makers in the world... How does that qualify for history? If its HK, its going to be reliable. thats not an issue. Will it unseat glock? probably not. Mainly because people buy blindly for the "name" not knowing anything about the guns themselves. Not to mention the fact that every gun store in north america carries them.
@justus00510 жыл бұрын
mark shuler Can you get the VP9 for 445? The trigger in the M&P has been greatly improved to the point that I sold my G26, and will no longer buy Glocks. The only thing people have ever been able to dog the M&P on, was the trigger. That is no longer the case. M&P, all American gun, all American brand, cheaper price, just as reliable, improved trigger. HK will be popular with people that like to look fancy though. Kind of like fancy purses for women, in the end, that $1000 purse is still a fucking purse. VP9 is just a fucking poly pistol.
@MotoErgoSum10 жыл бұрын
justus005 Not all purses are created equal. Coach has a lifetime guarantee and either fixes or completely replaces their purses if they fail under normal wear and tear. Do you want a wallet that'll last six months or sixty years? That's why you spend an extra couple hundred bucks on an HK. Virtually all HKs purchased in the states are assembled in the USA. I'm sure the VP9 will eventually be offered in 40 and 45, maybe even 22 if they sell like wildfire. The VP9 is probably just testing the waters to see if there is a market for decades-old HK tech that has been ripped off by just about every other gun manufacturer. See the old HK P7 for reference. That said, I like my family's S&Ws, just not quite as much as the H&Ks. I bought my first H&K CCW after trying out a bunch of different guns at the range. Didn't care about the looks at all. IMO, the XD's look cooler. I thought the Ruger SR9C looked really cool, but it shot like shit at the range. The LC9 was even worse. I was hoping I'd find something as reliable as my USP9C but slimmer. I'm hoping they make a VP9C. All the JHP tests I've seen show the 9mm performs just as well as 45, especially +P ammo like Hydra-Shok.

If HK lowers their price then your just buying Glock .
@Thunderkat6510 жыл бұрын
Glocks are junk but there is a large percentage of the population that goes for name recognition over quality. I owned a glock once and it jammed once every 3 rounds. Glock customer service was very rude and did nothing to help me. I sold my Glock and found Sig and haven't looked back. I felt a VP9 at the gun store the other day and the ergonomics are nice and the trigger is incredible, going to buy one Monday after work. The H&K VP9 is $569 at my local gun store.

Sorry dudes. The VP9 trigger smokes the Glock trigger and I own both. Don’t even try it. The Glock is OK on all fronts, but to me, lots of guns have superior striker triggers. The same with the Steyr M9, it is lighter and smoother. The ONLY thing the Glock has on that gun is a better reset, but as far as accuracy, the Steyr trigger is just better. Same with the XD. Specifically the XDM Mod 2 and better not including the Hellcat. I tried a Hellcat and it had an abrupt very stacky trigger I didn’t like so I held onto my XDS9, which has a great trigger.
