For the Philippines to be the next Japan, It needs to address education first. Japanese people are known for their discipline, hard work, and diligence. While Filipinos may have positive traits like hospitality and resilience, Crab mentality, envy, pride, and greed arise in financial, economic, and political matters. @cf79225 ай бұрын
Why don't you get things started and be an example to the people around you by being the most disciplined person in the world lol. If its as simple as that then North Korea should be the richest country in the worlds since they're brimming with discipline. The real answer is education, if you know what the consequences of not following certain rules and norms gets you then "discipline" is just a natural by product, as most people will not do things that is against their self interest.
@rakisyc5 ай бұрын
@@cf7922 do you even understand how discipline works? You cant have proper education without proper discipline. Students dont even listen or study because of lack of discipline. Discipline starts from the children and gets carried into adulthood. If the children lacks discipline then it resonates when he/she grows up. Hence we lack proper government, proper education and proper compassion to our surroundings. If you step outside you will see trash, pollution, jaywalking etc. And its just the tip of the iceberg. North Korea is poor because of their leader not its citizens. That is why even if their leader is a dictator their country is still in order, imagine if their leader is not a dictator? Then they will be as rich as south korea or probably more. A far cry from philippines. Thats why if we want to be like Japan then we must be as disciplined as them.
@rakisyc5 ай бұрын
@@cf7922do you know how discipline works? Japan is how it is now because of their discipline. For example having proper disciple means you listen at school, do your homeworks, have awareness on your surrounding etc. Philippines lack discipline, just step outside and you will see trash, pollution, corruption etc. NK is poor because of their dictator leader, if they were democratic capitalist they will be richer than south korea because of how diligent they work which is a product of being discipline. If we want to be like Japan then we must be as disciplined as Japan 1st.
@cf79225 ай бұрын
@@rakisyc Do you know how Japan got to be so "disciplined", its because they went though the 250+ years Tokugawa period where if you didn't adhere to the societal rules you either had to commit seppuku or have someone else end your life for you against your will. The Philippines barely went through 20 years of the Marcos Sr regime, and even then he wasn't nearly as strict as the Tokugawa period. The closest might have been Duterte's regime, but that was only 6 years, so any discipline brought on by fear didn't have long to sink in as compared to Japan's 250+ Tokugawa period. Also "discipline" helps, but its not really that important because the US sure as heck isn't as disciplined as Japan, and yet they managed to reach the top. The Philippines problem is that they have the right rules but they don't get enforced, that's basically the difference between the US and Philippines. There are areas of the US where police have stopped enforcing rules that some say is worse than the Philippines.
@cruzjohnalexandert.22545 ай бұрын
@@cf7922 Fair point. But I don't agree with your take on the US here... I've seen multiple sources stating that the nation is currently undergoing a downward spiral as of lately due to the Government's awful decisions especially with the conflicts that are currently going on with Israel and Ukraine. While it may take a decade or two before the US becomes a third world country, the same thing can be said to the Philippines becoming a first world. And can you please stop comparing the Philippines to the US? You have to remember that one is a global superpower that built its riches by screwing off other countries (particularly in South America and the Middle East) while the latter just wanted to live peacefully trying to make ends meet. Not to mention, as a filipino, we all have conflicting interests due to the fact that our country has three provinces with a drastically diverse set of beliefs here, and now, you people think that we can be as disciplined as Japan - a country whose people share similar beliefs to one another? Don't get me wrong. I'm certain that we could be as rich as japan but it's not going to happen anytime soon. So please, don't get your hopes up.

Since the time of FVR's Philippines 2000 slogan we have been tagged as the next economic powerhouse after being the sick man of Asia for years. Fast forward to Erap, GMA, Pnoy, Duterte and we are still lagging behind our neighbors, now Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand had surpassed us in terms of industrialization, tourism and services. It's only consumer demand driven by remittances, BPO's and a few industries that keep us afloat. Let us see if BBM can really bring us to upper middle income status next year, otherwise it's another lost dream. As long as all these politicians are corrupt and voters keep on voting for them for few hundred pesos, this country will never rise out of its misery. It is a change in values that can lift this nation up.

Philippines will be building the SKY MANILA, they would put Metro Manila's 100 km x 100 km land area up by 50 meters using 500,000 posts. There will be three levels, the ground level is the existing land, all vehicles would use the ground level, hundreds of MRT and LRT would use the second level and therefore reducing massive amount of vehicles using the ground level and less traffic, the third level would be vehicle less area, yes no cars, trucks, jeepneys. SKY MANILA is walking , jogging, biking, scooting area. It will be full of skyscrapers no less than 300 meters tall, condo, hotels and offices. Hundreds of parks, huge malls, millions of restaurants, thousands of hotels, several thousands of factories using all electric. All vehicles will be full electric, non-electric vehicle are not allowed. Many swimming pools, basketball, tennis, football courts, and many sports venues. Hundreds of entertainment arenas. It will have airport for helicopters or any vertical take off planes. This will be finished in 2035. Flood will be the thing in the past.

In order for PH to be at least like JP, Filipinos should not just be mere consumers of elements of Japanese culture (e.g. food, animé, games, etc.). It's seems to be more likely now than ever before for the Philippines to finally grow an economy that matches the size of its population because its now the best interest for many countries (like Japan, US, Australia) for the Philippines to have a big enough economy in order to be a big enough deterrent for China in the South-East area, much like how Japan currently is in the North-East area of the map. Before not many countries cared if the Philippines did well or not, but now, especially if you look at the map and just see how strategically important the Philippines is located in regards to China, it would make sense for a lot of countries to help the Philippines as much as they can so that they can be a "second" Japan in their area of the map. If local Filipino conglomerates don't get their act together to create their own versions of Samsung, Sony, Hyundai, Toyota etc. (which in their own way are just as corrupt as any other big conglomerate no matter their nationality, even Filipino ones), then they will most likely just be created for them, but they will be driven by foreign entities instead of local ones. People always goes on about corruption, but is there any country that doesn't have corruption? Look at what's happening in Vietnam right now with the fake bonds thing, yet despite that they're still trying to develop their own automotive brand called Vinfast, which means that they are able to navigate through corruption while trying to build their own national brands, so I don't see why the Philippines has to wait to solve corruption before actually achieving something. Do both lol, that's what everyone did, even South Korea had corruption scandals involving some of their family owned conglomerates and political families, but they managed to push through.

Not sure, Japan sure does need alot of Filipino teachers, not the other way around.

Right? There's no way in hell that Philippines will become the next Japan. They need to invest more in their education system. For heaven's sake, the Philippines average IQ is just 83, compared to Japan's average IQ of 106. How the heck do they expect to be the next Japan when they don't have enough educated work force that innovates, keep up with new technologies, get high paying jobs or become entrepreneurs who create jobs for others and reduce poverty.
