When I was a teenager I was coming home from work at night and a cop pulled me over and he searched my vehicle. I was young and didn't know any better so I let him do it without objecting and demanding he give me a reason why. Obviously it was because I was young and driving around at night. This cop was fishing for a crime and I should have told him to pound gravel and get out of my face but there were no cell phones back then so it would have been his word against mine and it would have ended badly for me if I resisted.

He never stated "unsafe vehicle", he simply said "safety check" which could mean anything so simple as wearing seatbelts. While I do agree with you entirely on the matter of "unsafe vehicles", the argument holds no value and you're basically guilty until possibly proven innocent by having a licensed mechanic dispute any charges in court. How many hundreds of MTO safety enforcement officers issue how many thousands of mechanical safety violations in Ontario every day? According to the provinces website, these officers receive 120 hours "of specialized training in conducting vehicle inspections"! Slightly less than the 7000 hours of school and training it takes for a mechanic to be deemed competent!

I got pulled in Manitoba, I seen the cop rip a U-turn and follow me for roughly 15 blocks. When I asked why I was being pulled over the cops reasoning was "you came to a complete stop at a stop sign and we thought that was suspicious, and when we pulled up beside you at the red light you didn't acknowledged me". I was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, I had to demand I be breathalyzed, which I was refused, 4 extra squad cars showed up over the course of this, and thankfully one of the cops that showed up, allowed me to breathlyze and I was proven sober and allowed to leave after a thorough search of my vehicle while I was under arrest for DWI.

I have been profiled SO MANY TIMES in Newfoundland as a young male driver. I've been pulled over probably between 10 and 20 times in my life and all of them were when I was younger and here is the thing. I have never gotten a ticket or a warning in my life. It was always "you rolled that stop sign" "i couldn't see your sticker" "we got a call about a car that matches..." and that kinda stuff. And every time the officer literally sticks his head in to talk to me to maximize what he can see and smell. Nearly every time this happened I was asked to get out so they could search the car. at least once they said it was because they could "smell drugs" when there were none ever there. They wouldn't even specify which drugs they claimed to smell. They may as well just have said "I don't like the look of ya so I wanna search your car" I often laugh about it now, but it still angers me a little. I used to be a young guy driving around in junk and getting pulled over all the time. Now I'm a bit older and still driving around in junk, but don't get pulled over anymore. What changed?" I've been pulled over once this past decade and it was because i rolled a stop sign in a small town on my way to check the mail and it was the first time I was pulled over where I wasn't asked to get out so they could search it. I was actually surprized, like I was expecting it to just be part of the whole ruitine. I also remember being a preteen and a teen walking around the neighbourhood on a Friday and Saturday night and having cops pull up and ask us our names. They would always run our names. I have no idea if they were allowed to randomly just do that for no reason. I they would talk into the radio in that radio language as soon as you said your name. Wiskey Tango Foxtrot. over.

Very good comment. Yes if you look sensible, marture, havec a relaxed body posture, demaneur then you wont get proifled. Saturday night kids pre teens teens roam around in cars throwing eggs, hurling insults, and doing pitsstop next to you, honking loud , then leaving. Kids throw ketchup .So if cops are keeping an eye on them, it is because of the comlains. I used to go to work walking 7 kms and then walking back the same distance. This was at night , so i know what happens on friday staurday night. Cops sometimes might be looking like kunt to you. They might be seriously doing a safety check. Yes they are kunts cops and others. Hey i was given a j walking ticket by a piggz in surrey bc. Can you imagine. I was young. I had lost my family ,. Alone and then had to cope with that.

Thanks for the vid. I refer to the RCMP as the failing RCMP because I have seen how they pick and choose what infractions and crimes they will investigate. It's at each officers discretion which is concerning. Then, when they show up other variables take over like who do they know n stuff. They have too much individual power and mandatory body cams need to be instated right now. At least then the citizen has a recourse against bad or useless cops.

“A police officer is (legally?) entitled to pull over your vehicle for just a safety check.” That sounds to me like, if that’s true, any officer, corrupt or not, can stop any innocent civilian if they just truthfully or falsely claim it’s a “safety check.” Under the highway act a “safety check” doesn’t require any form of observation of a crime to be performed? Sounds absurd.

So I had been pulled over several times in different local municipalities a couple years back (presumably because I was driving my cadillac while young 🙄) and even though they didn't issue tickets, I felt harassed -which I strongly articulated. I bought a dashcam, and within weeks I was randomly pulled over. No tickets, still "just checking on me" . For 15 minutes. I hit record on my phone and then remembered the dashcam. I told the officer when he came back to the car that 2 cameras were rolling. Instantaneous change in his tone. Have a great night. With 2 months, the same scenario happened again twice. The third time I was pretty short with the officer after he asked what was in the root beer can, told him he was on my dashcam and he'd be on FB later. I haven't been pulled over in about a year and a half, but when I do, it'll be recorded. If you don't have a dashcam, get one. And no you shouldn't need one explicitly for the purpose purpose of holding police accountable but you clicked on this video for a reason.

I was approaching a RIDE stop today and decided to stop at the beach to photograph the winter storm and sky. So I pulled into the parking lot of the main beach in my area just in front of their stop. I drove a short way into the lot, got out and started taking pictures of the sky as I do from time to time because it was an unusually snowy day. A female officer walked over to where I'd stopped and informed me that they were conducting a RIDE check and if I had consumed any alcohol or cannabis to which I responded no. She then asked for me to open the door so she could stick her nose into my car which she did. She then turns to me and tells me not to record her. I responded that I have a legal right to. That should have been the end of it. Neither myself nor my g/f smelled or looked like we were intoxicated in any way. She then asked me where I lived. I asked her what that had to do with anything. She then demanded my Drivers' License and took it back to her cruiser to check me out. Just because I was recording her? I can't think of any other reason. As she got back to her car, another officer (a male) came over to 'make sure I didn't leave the car'. As he approached, I began filming him as well. He slows down and raises his arms in a way as if to say 'what's up with the camera?'. I approached him and asked for his name and badge number. He refused to answer and asked me what my name was. I reminded him that I didn't work for the public and that HE did. He just laughed a bit and refused to identify. We stood there for about 5 minutes, him watching me film him, and the operation behind him with other cars being pulled over. The other officer returned, handed me my DL and they both left. I had a similar situation last year where they ordered me over to be ID'd and breathalyzed for no reason - 'you just don't look right' the cop said. Why? Because I'm DWB?? My question is: What justification did the officer have to demand my ID if no alcohol or other drugs are suspected? And is this something they can do with impunity from here on in?

question....if a car in ontario canada is pulled over, for any non major issue...ie, speeding, driving infraction, do the police have the right to ask for id from a passenger? I mean, if the vehicle smells of alcohol or drugs i suspect they would be obligated to identify all occupants. but if theres no reason to believe theres a crime other than the minor driving infraction commited by the driver. I know, in a public space, if i have not commited a crime, and am not suspected of commiting a crime, im not required to show identification. does it work the same in a motor vehicle? the laws are a bit grey

I just got pulled over last night at 12:45am coming back from the movie theater with my wife and child. We were driving in my muscle car. Doing 60 in a 70 zone and the cop came down the off ramp doing 100km speeding ended up infront of me then applied his brakes to 40km got behind me and proceeded to pull me over. He said your light above my license plate was out at its a $79 fine but he wasn't going to give me it. Instead he took my information then forced me to take a breathalyzer and sent me on my way. I pulled into a gas station and my light above my license plate was not burnt out it was working fine. Its blue but probably when he had his headlights on it, he couldn't see? Idk it was bullshit. Its cause of the car I was driving and the time it was. Our movie finished at 12:30am.

@swingarmer
@swingarmer 4 ай бұрын
@@majorramsey3k LOL "Sovereign Citizen" is an oxymoron Spiderman. Look up the discussion in "blacks commentaries" about natural and artificial persons. Is a driver a man? Or does a man become a driver? Isn't a driver something a person does in a commercial capacity? Like a cab driver, bus driver, limousine driver, truck driver. Do you think the birth certificate/legal identity created a legal /corporate fiction "person"? Do you think that every government statute you contract into using your birth certificate as proof of identification, creates an Adhesion Contract with that flavour of "authority" created by you caring government? You are begging for the privilege of an action that should not have been unlawful act with out a "drivers licence" etc. If we lived under natural law, which means taking full responsibility for our actions, we would not need statutes that masquerade as Law ? Statutes are in many cases new forms of contractual tax collection. Every statute redefines the man into another entity such as driver, voter, tax payer, patient, officer etc etc etc. It creates by tacit agreement a creature that most people would reject if they understood, but they don't and so enter into these contracts in ignorance and volunteer into slavery, one government contract at a time. Another interesting term always used in government statutes is "includes". For example MOTOR VEHICLE ACT [RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 318 Definitions 1 In this Act: "accident" includes an intentional collision; So here we see that an accident is an intentional collision. Look up includes in Black's law dictionary it says the inclusion of one or some things listed is at the exclusion of all others. Conversely, Including is expansive and not confining like like includes is. To illustrate further, if the statute says fruits include apples and oranges, then for legal purposes within the statute fruits are only apples and oranges, understand?

Lawyers lie all the time. They talk about laws and such. One thing you never hear them talk about is section 32 of the Charter of rights and freedoms. As most people have heard the charter is the supreme law. What you haven't heard is it applies to the government, not the people. This means all law in Canada is meant for the government, they do not have the authority to make laws controlling the people. I have pasted it here for you to read for yourself. Section 32 - Application of Charter 32. (1) This Charter applies: to the Parliament and government of Canada in respect of all matters within the authority of Parliament including all matters relating to the Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories; and to the legislature and government of each province in respect of all matters within the authority of the legislature of each province. Exception (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), section 15 shall not have effect until three years after this section comes into force. The purpose of section 32 is to make it clear that the Charter only applies to governments, and not to private individuals, businesses or other organizations. Subsection 32(2) was necessary to give governments a chance to amend their laws to bring them into line with equality rights. Section 15 of the Charter did not come into force until three years after the rest of the Charter became effective on April 17, 1982.

Partner was pulled over . Actually long complicated story. But the police set us up. I didnt do anything. But i have anxiety and depression. So in order to slap handcuffs on me they said i was hallucinating. Suicidal and homicidal and told Trafalgar memorial i had a history of drugs and alcohol. I dont even drink. No history. Long story but its crazy. They took my dogs away said to the shelter i was incarcerated. Never was . Due ton this the shelther was treating me like a criminal wouldn’t give back my dogs. Ans then they did a set up with my partner. They held him for intoxication. A fine. Let him out and then slammed into my parked truck. Took it away ( had no explanation was screaming at me.) Male Police officer when I was getting my backpack to get my wallet grabbed my wallet . Then both police officers started telling me im a drunk and alcholic. I don’t drink and she said it was my fault because i let him drive intoxicated. They let him out a few hours only after holding him. And didnt tell us he couldn’t drive. Found out alchol will show in your system for 24 hours. Male officer btw slammed into my parked reuck . I was stopped and not going anywhere. He only told me he was taking my truck away . Refuses to give me any information! They also arrested him for being drunk without giving him any road side sobriety tests! The first one was done after the arrest . Even heard a guy that was in a silver truck tell the male officer dont worry i had then followed right from the beginning. Thats the short version. But they have now also placed untruths on my medical report that the doctor refuses to change the lies he wrote and also with me repeatedly asking how he came up with those concussions-and which doctors have ever diagnosed me birder line personality! Or he claims i have a history of drugs and alchol to explain any! As i have none and he refuses. Their all corrupt and bet that you dont have money to fight them.
