I'm definitely buying one of these as soon as they come back in stock. I like the blue one you have, but I also really starting to like the Eriza Verde. As a humbucker guy this is the perfect mix for me to have a single coil(ish) sound without going full chime Strat.

Versatile for sure, but still. the only PRS I'm really hankering for is a DGT. They just seem to have a more soulful or less modern vibe.
@chrislestermusic2 жыл бұрын
Me too. Those DGTs are stellar.
@frantisca2 жыл бұрын
I chose a DGT as well. Very versatile and no middle pickup in the way. The model that impressed me most with its tone is the CE 22… more snap from the maple neck, very dynamic and responsive pickups, less PRS-type tones, more organic. But the DGT’s got more possibilities and bridges the gap between a Strat and a LP. I prefer Teles anyway 😃😉
@frankpfau90542 жыл бұрын
so do i… but the early models… moon inlays, no fretboardbinding…
@8sigreg2 жыл бұрын
I have both. They're different guitars. The DGT is definitely designed to sound like an older guitar because Grissom spec'd the pickups to sound like the PAFs in his ES-335. The Studio is going after a more modern sound but can cover more bases. Neither is better than the other, they're equally great guitars and feel and play wonderfully.
@Grant_Ferstat2 жыл бұрын
@@8sigreg It's the more modern sound that tends to turn me off PRS personally. The DGTs kind of hang with the sounds I grew up on I suppose.

Lovely video as always, RJ. PRS is an enigma for me: My 594 McCarty is, by some distance, the best built, longest sustaining, most versatile, easy to play and defiantly in-tune guitar I own. Fantastic for recording. Would I keep it over my CS Les Paul? No. Never bonded with it in the way I have with the Lester. So objectively, it’s no contest in one direction, and subjectively it’s the opposite. Gotta love guitars.

I was looking at these when they came out last year. I have an S2 Studio and love it and these looked very interesting but out of my price range. Can’t always get what ya want. Then I saw that Willcutt’s had one with a 10 top for $3200 but it was a 2011 and brand new??? I called and asked what gives and was told it had been lost in their whse for 10 years and was new with all the case candy . Then he told me he could do it for $2600 shipped to my door including tax!! It’s definitely the my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned a lot) , same color blue as this but back and neck are blue as well. Some times ya get lucky!

Nice review! I have a '13 Studio and love it. It nicely covers all styles, and always surprises me with how much it sounds like a Strat when I roll the volume down. When it's cranked it's in the P-90 ballpark. I run it straight into a Tone King Imperial Mk II on the lead channel with the gain on 10 and control everything from the guitar, and it is an awesome-sounding combination.

Beautiful guitar and great demo, but they have a big flaw in the electronic design, IMO. Splitting the humbucker should be done via a toggle switch. It looked pretty awkward for you when you were splitting it by pulling up on the tone knob. That awkwardness would be amplified in any live situation.

Love the demo and the guitar. I owned one for a while and regret selling it. Been using a singlecut PRS S2 McCarty 594 now and love it. Studio or DGT that is the question ?
@djt65462 жыл бұрын
DGT is the least typical PRS sounding. It’s got a tele on steroids vibe. A more unique sounding one of the PRS range and we’ll respected for it, even by many that don’t like PRS. The Studio although a little different is not so far away from many other PRS models with 58/15 variety pickups. The safer blind choice is the DGT because it is a unique signature model. But who knows until you can get them in your own hands 🤔🙂
@djt65462 жыл бұрын
I just received a wood library Studio with maple neck & ziricote fretboard. It puts out a full bodied, sweet tone but with plenty of texture. The latter being something I feel is often missing from a PRS guitar. “The Studio Rats” YT channel has a couple of videos reviewing a PRS Studio, perhaps including a DGT comparison. The video mentions that the bridge humbucker is particularly good and I have to agree. So check out the channel if you’re still interested comparing the Studio and DGT models.

Obviously its hard to get the raw materials in this day and age with Covid, so I am very understanding of the delay...but its a little frustrating when PRS are pushing the product to new potential buyers (like through this video) when one of their biggest outlets (Sweetwater) can't satisfy their demand and has zero stock of all 4 models/colors. R.J. ..if you can pass this on to Paul I would greatly appreciate it...are they ready to deliver ?...where can we buy this Guitar today ? ...can we even get an ETA on deliveries. @@soofitnsexy They’re certainly all a little different. I’ve been lucky to be able to play multiples of a particular guitar model and choose which one (if any) I want to buy and it does amaze me how different identical guitars can feel and sound. If you play a guitar you love the feel and sound of, take it if you can. Most recently with PRS I thought I loved the latest core McCarty. Tried one in a store and hated it. I was gutted. The same store had another one in some months later, even with the same colour, and the neck/fret board felt far more comfortable with more texture to the tone. Loved it, bought it. The same guitar! Some say they can buy a brand like PRS without playing first because they are so consistent. IMO while quality might be consistent in a given brand or price range, the final result in feel and tone is not. I also feel that has nothing to do with price. I just accept now that each guitar can be different. Some you like and some you don’t regardless of model or brand. Enjoy finding your special axe(s) 😊

The PRS CE 24 I think is more versatile. You get that snappiness from the maple neck and you can roll off the tone to get a more Les Paul type sound. The coil splits on the CE are the best I’ve ever heard. It can do anything from metal to country.
