Thanks! We've still got some playing around with it, but we really like it so far! Our main use for it is singing, but I think it's going to be great for voiceovers too! So glad this helped, and isn't 100% goofy! 😃

You two have recorded with a Rhode NT-1 before, but it was mine. I love that mic, and a great price point. The following is my unsolicited advice. I hope it helps you improve your craft... Ok, for dealing with the changing dynamics while recording, try running the mic through a compressor during the actual recording. This will keep you from having to back so far off the mic that you lose all the low frequencies (caused by proximity effect). While tracking, keep the compression ratio low, around 2 or 3 to 1. From there you can play with the threshold to get the compression required to keep from clipping the recorder input. I love that you two are still making music, and doing what makes you happy!

That's the most practical mic review ever! The only one I can relate to! And even your old mic matches mine, because mine is a Behringer BA 85A, which is supposed to be a cheaper Shure!!

Are you using the included pop guard? That should help a lot.

Male rock/metal vocalist here. Short answer: It doesn't. I had to buy an extra attenuator because although I set my gain on the focusrite at 0, it still clipped....

so for me it did not work with female vocals...had a singer with a little bit kind of squeaky voice and even with proper gain input it was distorting (no clipping anywhere) on the loud parts specially on the ,,o,, and ,,u,, and ,,i,, now it take only the beta 58a or sm57 for female vocals and the rode for male and rapping..

This mic has very low self noise, so you don't hear that "white noise" that you can hear from other mics. It will pick up background noises, like dogs barking, etc. I hope that helped!

I wouldn't recommend this mic to my enemy. I'm from Nigeria and I bought this mic December 2021 from Germany and arrived January 2022 I only get to test the mic and worked perfectly initially until the next day I tried recording a client with it and it stopped working. I other a pair again and arrived about 2days ago from writing this and same thing happened It good for test but stopped working yesterday when I tried recording a client for the second time Right now I feel like crying because I can't afford another at the moment and have got jobs 😭 I hate the NT1-A It's a total garbage

Sorry to hear all that! Especially if it's affecting your livelihood! We haven't had any problems yet. It's possible it was a dud, but it doesn't seem like you'd get TWO duds. If something goes wrong we'll be sure to report on that as well. I hope it all gets worked out for you.
