People arguing to keep illegal immigrants in the country so companies can pay them less than a livable wage, or even minimum wage is crazy
@pamelapeterson29878 күн бұрын
First of all, workers are paid at least minimum wage whether they are here legally or not. Secondly, there needs to be reform of the current system. Deporting laborers that are doing essential jobs is not the answer. The answer is to reform the system to allow for more work visas so laborers can do their jobs legally. The fact is that the low birthrate here, combined with historically low unemployment and an unwillingness of U.S. citizens to do certain labor intensive essential jobs means that we need immigrants to do that essential labor. Let's reform the system so those laborers can do the work legally. An example is that in the state of Idaho, there were 6000 jobs on dairy farms that needed to be filled, but only 23 Americans applied for those jobs, and at the end of the day, only 2 Americans actually showed up to work and they only lasted two days. I don't think most Americans want to pay 20 for a gallon of milk, which is probably what would have to happen to up the wage rate so it would attract American workers. I mean, people are already complaining bitterly about the price of food.
@isaacvitela51318 күн бұрын
@jasonguerra8404 so you support poor filtering of immigrants that actually want to be here from the criminals? Plus, that milk business clearly failed at adaptation and thinking ahead in case something goes awry. We are just seeing the consequences of that in action. But then you got this MAGA movement that also wants to eliminate all forms of legal migration as well. As if the US could survive without migrants, forgetting that almost the entire US population has a migrant background. And if you were to mass deport all of them, who is going to be the next scapegoat for all the problems the US has domestically? Because at the end of the day, that is what this is all about, identifying a scapegoat, someone else to blame for the poor state of the country and the economy. Giving the population an enemy.

Im sorry but im not going to listen about how U.S worker arent going to 'slot in' when its obvious that they've never worked with their hands in their life. The reason WHY immigrants are hired extensively like that is because when a foreman or boss doesn't have to file a w2 on a worked, they can UNDERPAY them. Instead of any benefits to an additional employee, they have an 'invisable' employee they pay under the table with the chump change in their pocket. if anything this deportation will light a fire under the miulti million dollar agriculture industries like Monsanto and actually get them to pay their workers. Because if an illegal worker became legal then they would HAVE to be paid more. Usless women speaking highly as if they actually know anything about the real world.

If you drive down hwy 140 you will see a large monument dedicated to a farm owner who is in our history books for developing the local agricultural landscape. The fact is he lied to his MAGA base and there will be no mass deportations...he just wanted to get their votes by playing on their stupidity. He never had any intention of doing it, especially since he himself relies on undocumented people at his own properties and many of his elite friends do similarly. Also, the price tag for mass deportations has been estimated at over $200 billion and there is no way Trump can keep his tax welfare for elites like himself and also pay $200 billion for mass deportations without once again ballooning the national debt like he did in his first term.

I hate money hoarders who promulgate income inequality as much as the next guy; and allowing them to exploit desperate illegals in exchange for immigration status and a bit of financial sustenance is a system that doesn't improve the country. @pamelapeterson29877 күн бұрын
No one is talking about the COST of these mass deportations. The last conservative estimate I heard was over $200 billion. There is no way this effort could be funded without one of two things happening: 1. Either raising taxes on the wealthy, or 2. Making cuts to SSI and Medicare. According to the American Immigration Council, the amount of tax dollars needed for mass deportations could be used alternatively to: Build over 40,450 new elementary schools in communities around the nation. Construct over 2.9 million new homes in communities around the nation. Fund the Head Start program for nearly 79 years. Pay full tuition and expenses for over 4.3 million people to attend a private college for four years, or over 8.9 million people to attend an in-state public college for four years. Buy a brand-new car for over 20.4 million people.

So I became a subcontractor and have 3 more guys working for me I pay between 15 to 20 dollars per hour. I only get paid 16 cents per square foot when we are building houses that are worth above the 200k mark . We get paid pennies for the dollar it’s insane. If he's successful the people better blame him, Ramaswamy House GOP and Senate GOP. Musk supported keep immigrants here from the get go so he gets a pass. These politicians refuse to change the laws into employers have to pay both domestic and immigrants the same wage, that would reduce the likelihood of a business hiring them over Americans. Immigrants should be allowed to unionize without penalty.
