Price difference between comp and non comp goes beyond just the black trim bits and the engine tune. You get the 21 inch wheels, the m sport seats, and the m performance exhaust.

The difference in power is just the tune. 480 vs 510. You have to pay, 7000k for the competition package. I bought 2024 X3M non competition with the Msport seats in Merino leather, Msport exhaust and 21 inch forged competition wheels for 3500 USD. Great deal. 3500usd for a tune of 30 hp...no, thanks, 480PS is plenty for the road.

Really wish I could afford one. Actually can but just couldn't rationalize that much for a SSUV. I ended up getting a loaded X3 xdrive with bi turbo 4. 54K MSRP and got it for 47K. And even that was a bit hard to swallow. But that B58 inline 6 is a wonderful motor. Just not willing to pay over 10K for it.

Yep...My 2012 335i has many of those features. Also note that it is 503 hp not 510. The x3m does look awesome. In the market to replace my wife's x5.

0:50 it lets you rev all the way up "toward" red line... Then you show it revving to 5k although red line is at 7k. Does it cut throttle at 5k rpm or were you just going easy on it? If it does limit your revs to 5k rpm's, is that considered impressively high? I haven't driven any newer BMWs so I don't know....but I do know that in my B5 S4 with a manual transmission the ECU will let you rev to redline unless you are stopped, in first gear and have the clutch in. In that scenario it will hold the revs at 4.5k - 5k rpm. I presume this is kind of like a launch mode, where you do that and then dump the clutch

Mokh7777 thank you!! Bmw is a nice brand. I work for a dealership and tell customers always get Gap insurance and extended 3rd party warranties when purchasing these cars. It doesn’t matter how wealthy you are, spending money on parts for these cars is no joke. One part may cost as much as a down payment for a new car. Bmw is not what it used to be reliability wise lol. Some cars you can run to Autozone and diy on a weekend. Bmw and Mercedes or any foreign cars you’re calling a tow truck, but if you have the money more power to you..

Jesse McRae good points thanks for the tips. Yes bmw warranty is 4 yrs and my loan is 6 yrs so most likely I will have to do the extended warranty. Cars these days are all computerized and a lot of electronic issues that can end up quite expensive. My older 3 series model which didn’t even have many of these new features was expensive to maintain so I can imagine for this one.

I gotta say I'm tired of seeing the info screens just sitting there on the dash of most new and cars in general. It looks like someone just completed the inside of the interior and forgot about the screen and said hey just put it there that's what they all look like now in days. could anybody please explain why and hopefully tell me that they will improve it soon. So many uninformed opinions. The only real relevant fact is how much better is this compared to the m40i, which surprisingly enough has bigger tires in the rear on 21s (275/35, fronts are 245/40). The m performance exhaust on the m40i is quite different, but not in any less way; it’s much louder, with pops and cracks. The M seems to drops pops and cracks for strong burbles to show a bit more going on. right now, I do not think the full M is worth it’s price difference compared to the m40i. Straight line performance is a few tenths apart. I’d really appreciate the reviewers to direct compare. At least this review lets you know about a few features that are different. The x3 is a superb vehicle in any model choice. The m40i is absolutely excellent. Hard to imagine the full M upstaging on a scale similar to the m3/4 vs a normal 3er, or a 5 to the m5.

everyone who can't afford a beamer always thinks buying a used one is a great deal because of all the depreciation, but they depreciate for a reason. all that german plastic starts decomposing at once. not only the interior and exterior trim and headliner but all the plastic in the engine compartment. it is extremely rare for bmw window controller arms to last much beyond warranty, for example. open the hood and take a look inside. see where everything is located and think about what it's going to take to do the most common repairs. pain in the ass. also, you can buy bosch parts for some of it but most of it is going to require bmw oem, which is like 4x what a toyota/lexus or ford/lincoln part will cost. there are hundreds of sensors in them now. the sensors often cost more than it costs to fix whatever the sensor says isn't working, and often it's just the sensor that is malfunctioning, and you need dealer level scan tools to sort all that out. it's almost to the point where you can't work on them yourself if you aren't a professional with all the special tools. off-lease bmw for an average joe, or an adventurous guy willing to learn, may have been a decent idea back in the 90's but not now.

BMW gets 30HP more by using water injection on the 3.0. When you shut the vehicle off, a pump evacuates the line from the water holding tank to engine so it won't freeze. Been waiting since March to purchase a 2020 X3; BMW has historically introduced the new X3 model early in the year, but not this year. Guess they held the new X3 back until enough X7s were manufactured. The first of 2019, BMW reduced the number of color options for the 2019 X3. You could only order one in Black, White, Silver, Blue, Graphite, or Sunstone(?), but not RED! BMW better bring Red back for 2020, or they won't be getting my money for a fifth X3.

Unless you have money to burn. I suggest you drive an basic x3 before you by an m. The X3 is an awesome suv with just a few options. You can get a very large discount of a basic X3. I love fast cars. In a SUV the X3 is easy head of its class. At least until the Tesla Y hits the streets.

@@Mokh7777 BMWs electric car program is a mess. They missed their opportunity with the I8 and I3. They tried so hard not to be competitive with their gas cars. Now they are no longer competitive in the electric car market. BMW should have introduced an all-electric BMW 3.-Years ago. It would have to be priced at 60k not to compete with the gas 3. So the did the crapy 58k I 3. Now the Tesla 3 is killing BMW 3 sales when BMW could have made the transition BEFORE Tesla. BMW use to be the ultimate driving machine. Excellent steering feel. Quick transits, Excellent brakes and handling, and beautiful engines. Sweet musical and refined engines. I loved the N/A I6. The V10 and V12. Today 90% of BMWs have that plain jane turbo 4. The V6 turbo is unreliable while lacking the sweet sound of its ancestors. The base Bottom of the Line Tesla 3 handles better than all but the M3. The Y is little more than a more refined taller slightly bigger Tesla 3. As good as the X3 is. It will be no match for the Y. BMW has become more of the Ultimate marketing machine. Fake engine noise through the speakers? The BMW 2002 has been sadly forgotten.

I used to have a 3 series back in the day which handled great. I was considering the 5 series hybrid before I went for the X3. What are your thoughts on their hybrids? I decided to not go with it ultimately bc it looked like very complex (though impressive) engineering and I figured it would give me high maintenance costs down the road if I kept it for longer term
