I was thinking of getting rid of my YFZ 450r and getting a CF Moto800 2 seater so me and the wife can get around glamis. Were not goin to hill climb or anything like that. We just want to get to the races and watch them. Were trying not break the bank, buying a side by side. Thx fit the video.

I have a 97 Polaris Xplorer 500......basically the same thing as the Sportsman. I have a windscreen, winch, and rear storage/seat mounted. Weighs in around 860 lbs trail-ready. Have taken it to St. Anthony dunes and it gets around surprisingly well. Its a little slow compared to a Rzr800 or any bike/sport quad, but we actually parked a CFMoto 800 sxs because it didn't get around as well as my Xplorer. Bigger hills will require low range, but I stayed away from them. For sight seeing and hauling supplies out for a night time fire in the dunes, it was more than adequate. Now I gotta take my Samurai out there and see how it does!

@@Rec-Star really? That’s awesome. I have a brute force and hopefully it will do well. Has some meaty tires so it better😂🤘

I have a grizzly 700 as well. Actually bought it for trails and dunes. It goes everywhere, is way easier to drive than a 2wd. Ride quality is way better with independent rear. Only thing it can't do is wheelies. Lots of videos on my channel. I've got a set of 28" paddles I'm going to try in a couple of months. Might end up having to buy a set of 26" paddles (they are really hard to find used).

My buddy rides a 2018 grizzly 700 and loves it they are awesome machines. 26" paddles are usually off of rzr800s the 25.5 size is a 26 with the paddles.

You make a lot of good points. It's cheaper to buy a utility quad vs getting a side x side then having to deal with pulling a trailer. Is it worth getting the sand tires or are the dirt tires enough?
@Rec-Star2 жыл бұрын
utility quad is cheaper then a SxS but single passenger. depends on your usage sand tires will hook a lot better but good dirt tires work fine as these quads have 4x4.

Regular tires are just fine in some sand. I believe it has something to do with moisture in the sand. Very dry climates may require paddles for sand. Always do research on the park you're contemplating visiting. My bone stock 400EX does great in the sand in Waynoka, OK. It has fairly new knobby tires all around and has really good traction in the sand. I also rode for a couple hours on new sand paddles in the rear and acceleration from a dead stop was only a little bit faster than the knobs. That was the only ride I took on them because the paddles gave a very rough ride from the campsite to the entrance of the dunes, then back to the campsite after I finished riding. They also make fairly lightweight paddles that allow your machine to go faster but the material is usually thinner and therefore puncture easier.

I am personally not running paddles. my friend with the S model does. i would say its not worth the extra expense. @@ya-v

Odd title for a video. It's like saying "Can a machine designed for the sand make it in the sand?" 🤦🏻♂️

Fantastic video I just got a Kodiak 700 for Christmas I'm as excited as hell to use it I do a lot of hunting and fishing but I'd also like to go on the dunes once in awhile and go fishing on the beach with it and I was worried that I couldn't do that unless I bought sand tires and wheels
@Rec-Star Жыл бұрын
That Kodiak will go up almost anything. My buddy with a grizzly 700 on stock tires basically does it all. Neither of us checked tire pressure just ran the same pressure as always

@@Rec-Star damn thank you so much for the response..... did you do a break in? Would love to know how you did that
@Rec-Star Жыл бұрын
@tlpoutdoorsman I have never done a break in on any quad or engine ever. I usually change the oil the first time quickly but don't really take it easy on them. Haven't had a problem done a ton of motors and bought a few new machines!
