Thank you and I'm glad it was useful. I'd probably not recommend the Corsa-e goes on your shortlist though. At least not until Vauxhall more publicly acknowledge there being a known fault and maybe put it out to a recall.
@deniserichards69Ай бұрын
Wow....my Vauxhall e is having the same issues despite having been " fixed" once.....it's been ongoing for months now!! Aggghhhh.....so interesting watching your experience. Mine has only done 18,000 miles, just four years old, disappointing to say the least!!! 😢
@SpeakToTheGeekTechАй бұрын
Oh no I’m sorry to hear about that. I loved the Corsa e until it had that fault, a lovely car to drive. But I now have an MG4 instead and it’s so more accurate on its range estimates for starters, no problems charging in public, and it’s slightly bigger.
@andyfraser58764 ай бұрын
When ours had this same problem just over year ago, it took 7.5 months to get it back from the dealer. We had to SORN it as it was still with them as the car reached its 3rd birthday. We finally got it back in January, and it's been fine since. The one plus side was that the loan car was a Corsa electric and we ran up over 7,000 miles on it, so it made our own Corsa a relatively low mileage model.

honestly, im one of the people that has had it fully stop on the motorway, most recently 3 days ago, it fixed itself after half an hour powered off, but much like you said, I'm not sure have faith in it anymore. I'm likely going to call up the place I got my lease from ask ask if there is a way I can swap the car for a more reliable one, even at a reduced loan amount (EVs have dropped a fair bit in the last year) . the corsa has been great, its wicked to drive, nippy and agile and smooth, but it just has too many electrical gremlins

Got the same problem as you in may 24 in Italy, mine is Opel with extended warranty. Climate compressor fault Valeo model, they replaced it and everything fine. But, in July here was really hot around 37 degrees and the car stops with red triangle on display. After half an hour it starts again and never happened. Assistance told me that the compressor works also for cooling down the batteries, and with this hot it stops like a protection status. Out of warranty it would cost aronud 1600 euros, so I'm glad they did it for free for you. I wonder that Vauxhall made this move out of warranty really professional.

I had a minor scrape with my e-Corsa, and the garage give me a 6-speed manual petrol Corsa! Interesting contrast. Going up the high street in Marlborough, I realised I'd forgotten how to do a hill start with a manual gearbox! No harm done, but it was a tense moment 🙂

Your dedication to the cause is admirable, Mr Geek 😊 Jumping back to a known ICE alternative would be for lesser mortals but both feet in for another EV is tenacious, indeed.
@SpeakToTheGeekTech4 ай бұрын
The issue with the car was something that could happen with any type, whether that's ICE or EV. The driving experience, ease of use, and running costs of an EV are just so great that it would take something much more than this to make me go back.

We had a number of faults come up on the dash of our Corsa-e. Traction control, Hill Start Assist, ABS, etc. Took the car into Vauxhall, and they said it was corrosion on a wiring loom located near a rear wheel. Unfortunately, they were on back order, and the car sat at the dealer ship for 2 months. Each week they would give me an update and told me there were 15 other cars in the car park waiting for the same parts.
@SpeakToTheGeekTech4 ай бұрын
Could have been the same thing, sadly I don't think I'll ever find out exactly which wiring loom was replaced now though!
@gavinnoname14244 ай бұрын
@SpeakToTheGeekTech I'd imagine it was. For traction control to work, the computer needs to know the speed of each wheel. Apparently, there was an issue with water getting into the connector in the wheel well and corrodes the pins.

How much did you get get from WBAC in the end? I threw my 2021 on there and they are quoting 8.6k which bonkers low, brought last year for 17k. Debating getting rid of mine due to constant weirdness with it (and gosh the app is shockingly bad). Latest was an ESP/ASR + collision detection warning, instantly cleared once I started driving thankfully.

All cars have faults but it's down to the dealer themselves on how they carry out the repair process, in this case you've been faffed about by them far too many times which is enough to put anyone off buying a Vauxhall. Was interested in getting an Corsa-E but seems like their dealer network is a right put off.

It was frustrating, but I’ve fixed it now by getting a different car :) I don’t think I’ve ever used a main dealer from any manufacturer that hasn’t annoyed me. The car company that cracks that model open will do very well indeed!

I have this message 3 months out of warranty. Had the on board charger replaced £3500 ( not paid yet) apparently it still has problems. But the dealer and Vauxhall have no idea what is wrong yet. This has been going on for 10 weeks now and they will not give me a courtesy car.😢
@SpeakToTheGeekTech7 күн бұрын
That's not good. I was quite fortunate in they fixed it for me and I had a courtesy car during the repair. I think the issue is that the error message is a default one that pops up for many things which means it's quite tricky to diagnose. It's not great at all though for Vauxhall's reputation - I would personally not be willing to buy another one given my experience with them which is a shame because the car was great to drive apart from that.

Peugeot dealership being from the PSA group are no better. They are ready to take your money but their workmanship is dire. We had a massive software up just before the end of our warranty which caused other issues that the local garage says were unrelated 🤡 Stellantis are no good at electrification. We are looking at an Ionic 6 now with a 7 year warranty or possibly a Model Y LR with a 5 year warranty.

Well TC is 2 encoders on 2 wheels (or 4 on 4wd), wires and an ECU or separate box. It is mostly the sensor covered in crap, a dead sensor (knocked off by debris) or the wiring harness (or broken connector). Sure, sometimes a fried circuit, but I would say it's not usual. While there are a lot of problematic things on an EV (e.g. the BMS and software), the TC is literally as complex as an Arduino with a light gate and a disc with holes on it :) .. OK maybe a bit more :) lol.
@SpeakToTheGeekTech4 ай бұрын
I think the reported error was unrelated to TC in real life. My guess is their error detection runs through a list of things and TC is at the end of the list so if the error is unknown, that's what gets displayed! Given other software issues in the car then that sort of poor if/then coding would't surprise me
@geoffreycoan4 ай бұрын
Oh don’t you just love garages? Sounds like you had the full gamut of reasons for the car not being fixed, apart from “we’ve had to order a special left handed spanner for your car” 😂 How we WBAC price-wise for the e-Corsa? We used them once and they took so much off the price at the “inspection” it was quite annoying
@SpeakToTheGeekTech4 ай бұрын
I tried to sell via CarWow auction first and it basically didn't sell - there was one offer and it was really low. WBAC was higher, they did knock me down about £700 once they looked at it, but the price was still higher than the CarWow offer so I took it. My replacement car was about to turn up a few days later and I didn't want an overlap.

So accepting that your local Vauxhall dealer could have communicated better with you, in hindsight, would it have been better to go straight to them for a fix than the third party repair shop? I imagine the whole thing was very frustrating. My wife had an e2008, 3 year warranty worried me a bit too, Hyundai/Kia much more like it!
@SpeakToTheGeekTech4 ай бұрын
With hindsight, yes that would have been less hassle to go straight to them. However if you've watched the series from the beginning you'll see that my assumption was Vauxhall would charge a hefty fee to resolve based on what other people with the same fault had mentioned on the speakev forum. Luckily, it seems that their issues actually mean Vauxhall were aware of the issue and had a special-case fund for the repair of it... hindsight is a great thing!
@edwardpickering90064 ай бұрын
@SpeakToTheGeekTech Indeed. My Ioniq 5 got rear ended last year, over £5k worth of damage. Insurer (LV) wanted to use a regular repair place but I insisted it went to the local Hyundai dealers bodyshop. Cost another £200 on excess but worth it as paperwork all in place and some additional issues that cropped up were dealt with under the warranty. At least it looks like new now!
