The drumming on this is incredible. He changes the sound of his kit throughout the song just by absolutely masterful playing. Nothing gives this track away as coming from 1972 instead of 2016. My mind has been blown.

Adam Czubaszek I'm pretty certain he doesn't change to another style of stick, the change in sound is too subtle, although he may change to heavier sticks. I have no idea! Whatever he does works very well.

Drums here are insanely detailed & yet the fills are improvised. He plays so fast because even though the other musicians are in 4/8 the Drummer is playing in 4/16 - which means he plays double the amount of values as the Guitars. The Portamento on the bass guitar as it slides up is a nice touch, as well as the other guitars Juxtaposed Pan.

Studying this song while high, I realize a few things: The bass guitar does this things where it pretends like it’s tame and not trying to dominate the song but there are many times when it tries to out compete the dominating drums s The drums literally carry the entire song and are confident and assertive. The drums will tone down to make the drums think it’s backing up but it’s actually figuring out how the drums think so that it case infiltrate then.

A great insight. The members of Can weren't just brilliant musicians, they were real intellectuals. Holger Czukay, the bassist, studied under Karlheinz Stockhausen (one of the most important composers of the last century). They weren't just making incredible music, they were making intellectual statements with it too. The best band ever.

Not by Stephen Malkmus! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z32VYYWnrtFoq7M The thing about bands and songs like this is that @akis723 is right - they might only reach a section of the mainstream crowd like a hammer -- but then you have a musician set that REALLY REALLY adores what's going on here and cherishes them for all time. Jaki's drumming and CAN as a whole are well-whispered among those who know. And if you're here lamenting those who don't know? You're one of the ones who knows. Rejoice. :D
