I think what you mean is you want daylight savings time made permanent. That would give us an extra hour of light in the evening all year long, not just in the summer. We are in standard time now and it gets dark very early.

Bedtime is 630pm at our house. The littles are asleep by 7/730pm and my eldest plays quietly or reads in her room until 8pm, then goes to bed on her own. It's the best!

I had just moved back to the States from Germany where we rarely had to deal with this so I wasn't totally sure how to proceed bc they weren't asking for money and it really seemed like it could be a legit situation. It all depends on where you live within your time zone. Since we are self employed and homeschool also, we just don’t do daylight savings! It’s amazing! The kids never have to try to move their sleep schedules. We move the clocks and move our routines with them. It just feels like church and dance class moved.

There are days that I feel the same way about daylight savings time; however, I am sure that the original time is what we have during the winter months, not the summer months. It was originally made to have more daylight hours to save energy during world war I. I feel mine equals out now between the cost of electricity during the summer and the cost of propane during the winter! That is a country person talking vs a city person; but, I also have fond memories of walking home from Girl Scouts when I was a kid in the early evening hours. I lived in a small town and in the 60s in Kansas, it was safe for a ten year old to walk home alone 7-8 blocks. Times are different!

I’m pretty sure that our federal legislature passed a bill to keep daylight savings year-round. Technically it is not ending daylight savings time. It is keeping it and not returning to the dark times… I do not think it’s going to be state to state. We will all be on the same deal of never returning to normal time. I could be wrong, but I understand that it was put off another year because the airlines said that they couldn’t get it together… Or maybe it was the FAA.

You two make me laugh so much ❤ My son and daughter-in-law did that a couple years ago. They catered majority of the meal for Christmas. Their menu was different than usual, But they were able to enjoy people more with less mess. The person who usually has to do all the cleanup was easier. Someone I know they do over 30 people. What they do is do the turkey the day before and put it in a big roaster with broth. They do the mashed potatoes. And all they have to do is warm them. She said actually that day. There's very little dishes and it sets her free. I love that you are encouraging people that it's okay to break out of the mold. That maybe the way it was done generations before, to have that activity or meal but do a different. I know it was different from me when different members took over some of the different holidays other than my grandma and my mom. They did things different which was good but it Took me a little bit because I was so used to tradition. So I'm glad even when I was a mom. Some of that tradition was a little different by different people because it's made it easier for me with my family who do it different. We could still get together. We still had that meal , but it didn't have to have everything as generations before. I did have to laugh when you're talking about. How cute a mouse is oh my goodness no no. We once had a shrew get into our house. I don't like those either. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your whole family. ❤ We are so thankful for for your wisdom. Look. Even if we didn't turn back clocks, it would still get dark earlier because that is something dependent on the Earth's angle and rotation during the winter. And that can't be changed. Don't worry - the days will start getting longer again after December 20/21.

Funny thing about Daylight Savings is that in the fall, that is when we end our daylight savings.. we fall back an hour and fall back to our “normal” time. In the spring that is us springing forward an hour to have more day light to work more, hence the real reason they started daylight savings bc we were saving day light by adding an hr… so I’m in favor of daylight savings when I want to keep working after dinner 🤪

I did the premade Christmas dinner from Sprout for like 60 people I think. Food was fine and it was good. I didn’t have to cook, but ours came in four person containers. So it literally took me like three hours to heat everything up. Make sure you look into that and see how long it’s gonna take to heat up every single thing individually. It was kind of a nightmare. I was hoping for larger containers of food.

She misspoke. The government did vote on and pass keeping daylight savings time year round, and it was supposed to start in 2023, but for some reason it has been delayed yet another year… Some thing about the airlines, but it’s probably yet another government failure.
