Fun fact about choosing Astarion: Neil Newbon has said before that he based a lot of Astarion's behaviour on a feral cat that he befriended. So Astarion was the perfect choice for this challenge.

Wait a sec. You can fight the Gnolls during the final assault? So severing the connection of the kitchen lady and the Gnolls somehow removes them from that fight... that's really cool.

It can do even more than that : you can add them as allies. I learned that in my second playthrough and it made the first floor fight *so* much easier, less archers to deal with, more people to deal damage to the enemy and more targets to spread the enemy thin all in one fell swoop, what's not to love

Hell yeah, more cat runs! I love it!! If I may suggest, I would recommend running 8 Spiders; multiclass Druid and Beastmaster Ranger so you can become a spider AND summon one!

Alert and tavern brawler are a must, in my opinion. Durable or resilient are great, too. Boon of the shapeshifter ring, the raven necklace, the moon hat, the armor mentioned in Act 3, and orins armor all transfer to your wildshape. Cannot cast spells while in while shape, but can cast them before (like stone skin). And elixirs work great. Unfortunately, unless you kill the strange ox in act 2, all armor that can help you in wildshape is only available in act 3. Your wisdom, charisma, and intelligence all transfer to your wildshape, which can be useful for saving throws 😊

I just go full moon druid its pretty strong all by itself now that larian patched some things with the Mermadons. Feats:alert, tavern brawler, mage slayer or anything that helps with concentration while your in woldshape coz i like casting concentration spells then immediately changing into owlbear, saber, or mermadon. I rlly wanna try multiclassing into war cleric now tho i might do it on tactician and honor mode 😁

As an added note of interest, Illithid, with one exception that I've found, are referred to as 'it' even by close friends (Ormeluum is called 'it' by Blurg; both Ormeluum and the Emperor are called 'it' by the narrator with one accidental pronoun change).
