Recommendation: Leave the gates on the middle tier closed so that area floods. The flooding will fill up the sinkhole in the middle and give you a bit more greenage time. Also, move the showers to the mid tier. They use up water, which along with the pumpers, drains the high tier water faster. If you put the showers in the sinkhole, you can just occasionally top it off until you get dynamite and keep the showers running most of the time with excess water rather than water supply.

17:19 Biffa so focused on the one side that the other side was forgotten, especially since that other square is only 1 deep instead of 3 so you could have saved a bunch of logs/planks by building it on that side instead.

Yea, i feel like he's in such a hurry to get the video done he misses a bunch of stuff. He also didn't put a path on it. Earlier he also was looking at bad water and pointing at an area saying they would mix but that spot is up river, HOW WOULD IT FLOW BACKWARDS??? Like he still hasn't figured water wheels somehow still. Hopefully he doesn't burn himself out trying to do so many games.

​@@JJayzXThe bad/good water mixing will happen because (as he said maybe 2 minutes earlier) he is blocking off the current route, which will cause the bad water to flow in that direction.

If ya close the gates before the drought starts you will keep a higher water level in your river. You tend to close the gates after the water has stopped flowing and the Levees have stopped the flow.

Biffa, the reason your beavers walked through the bad water to build the platforms around the gates at the end of the video is there is a pathway all the way there and under where the platforms were being built. The beavers always prioritize using pathways

Biffa, each pod will maintain a population of roughly 14 beavers if it is kept full by haulers. Additionally, with a single farm on the lower level, having them prioritize harvest will mean you get food waves and longer periods between growths. For single farms, leaving them on planting priority is better. For two farms working together, one harvesting and one planting will keep the food cycling as quickly as possible. There is also a mod you can grab to automate your floodgates.

That 'roughly' is doing a lot of work. Breeding pods are anywhere between 8-17 depending on life expectancy; it's highly dependent on beaver well-being, and Biffa's current well-being indicates each pod will support only 8.

I don't know if you're seeing this before recording the next episode, Biffa - but if you are, you have to get on badwater harvesting fast now, because Ironteeth require Extract (made from Badwater) in Decontamination Pods to cure the infection they'll have picked up from going in there to build those platforms. Infected beavers as you know take up beds, food and water, but will not work or reproduce. It's that, or exile them to another colony to die like RCE had to 😅

That requires metal blocks for the centrifuge, badwater pump, and decontamination pods. Metal blocks themselves requiring salvage which he hasn't got a path to yet. Those beavers are already dead, they just don't know it yet.

@@squallloire Yeah iron teeth are brutal for contaminated beavers. By contrast, the folktails need, what, a few planks for the herbalist hut, some paper and a patch of dandelions? And they can ship the antidote to wherever they can fit a 1x1 tank.

Yep, the badwater redirecting system went as well as I expected it to go. Also, I don't think those floodgates behind the dam blocks are doing anything besides getting your map flooded when the drought ends lol

Get the beavers a path to access the dam on the bottom. They can build up to 2 levee's high from the ground in parallel.. much faster. Also you can build the ladders from top at whatever height (similar to levee's) so you can get access to the other end of the dam already.

If you haven't gotten the mod for Simple floodgates yet it will help with automation of the floodgates to switch them on/off with Drought/Bad tide/etc. (stop flooding your colony) From my comment from last video: " The Flood gates near the water source will likely need some additional levees on the cliff side as it looked like water was going around the floodgate and then back into the channel where you won't want bad water. " So it was indeed happening last time, lol :)

Recommendation: close your flood gates a little bit before the draught starts so you have time to top up you reservoirs

Yay! It's Teamberborn Time again! After my first try on this map (folk tail hardmode) failed by starvation, I tried again and this time, moved my farms down to and around the first water pool and kept the wood production up top. This was the game changer and I now fully conquered the map. 😊

With building...I think you can build 2 blocks above the beaver or 7 (or 8) blocks below the beaver...they can also collect materials from destroyed building 7 (or 8) blocks below...need to use that to your advantage when building large dams

you may want to pause building the blocks over the river until you are ready for the water to be redirected, or alterntively replace the middle one with a platform.

So you don’t need to pause the water pumps during a badtide, if I remember right they actually filter whatever they suck up so you still get clean water out of them, they just produce it much more slowly when drawing from contaminated water.

Use two layers for your dam gate, put platforms on bottom then levee gates, then another layer of levees in front of the platforms, then you can drain the whole thing if you want

Builders can’t snack on the way to the building site, they have to report back to their hit or the district Center first. A construction site may be serviced by several haulers, but only one builder at a time, which bottlenecks dam construction if the next part is reachable only when the one before is fished

If doing such a large project so early on, I think it was better to build from the bottom up over time, so you can benefit from the dam sooner. And btw, not sure if you are aware, Number of breeding pods regulates population.

There is a mod that will let you set prameters to automatically adjust the height of floodgates as well as if certain water based buildings like the pumps are on or not at the start of each of the 3 season types.

food variety is better than loading up on just one food, it'll increase their happiness which will help work speed/lifespan plus i think with the way hunger works they'll rotate what they're eating instead of defaulting to just one

I don't think water will naturally flow upstream, if you block its exit downstream [11:38]. You have to figure out its route off the map before you block that! Damming off the second badwater source at [12:39] will work because it has another route off-map, but that first dam is going to cause badwater flooding, probably somewhere inconvenient.

Yup, his small dam beside the big dam is not gonna work. It is higher than the area a bit closer to the badwater sources, so water will just flow around it. And even if it was same height water would just overflow...

if you run one of your paths through the water then you dont need the showers and the beavers will get wet fur needs and if its a path they all take often then you will force them to get wet fur instead of them choosing to get a shower. Also dont open your flood gates to full jump leave them 1 from top as the water will still flow but saves the most amount of water.

Is it just me screaming at the screen, whenever Biffa shows the empty gaps in the oak plantation, where nothing is planted? Also as often as you forget opening/closing flood gates, there is a mod called "SimpleFloodgateTriggers" that lets you automate that as well as some water related buildings based on season and even water height, if linked to a streamgauge. It is making this way less tedious miromanagement. Especially, if you plan on using pumps to green up areas in future.

Small storage warehouses are a cheaper platform than leves or platforms..... you should have used those to fill in the corners at the dam

You are in a bit of a pickle with all those contaminated beavers. You are a long way off from being able to cure them. It might be in your colony's best interest to "cull" them

I don't think you need the floodgates in front of the dams. The dams automatically stop the water when there isn't flow.

Floodgates can only be set to 0.0, 0.5 or 1.0. Dams will stop water at a height of 0.667.

1/5 population contaminated for 1 day badtide. And blame it on beavers. I wonder if you'll have your own "THE INCIDENT" Biffa. Also, that hole on 2nd plateau can be easily filled if you close flood gates there. Water will overspill and fill the hole.

Given how beavers lifespan tanks when infected (because well-being goes through the floor), and how to save them he'd need to build a path to salvage, build a smelter, smelt salvage into iron blocks, build a badwater pump, a centrifuge, and multiple decontamination pods... I think it's safe to say that those beavers have preemptively become Biffa's THE INCIDENT at this point.

@@SalamanderBSC it's not that life expectancy tanks while contaminated, they lose all buffs from food, decoration, well being, and their speed is halved I think, and they don't work. Last one is the biggest issue. But yes, average lifespan of beavers in this colony just tanked.

I told you last season don't blame the beavers for your stupidity. They're just following the bosses orders aka you and if you put the designated path in the water you're gonna get them sick until we end up with "the incident" and that incident could end the season and their lives given how few beavers you have.
