I know this is quite a short video but I hope you all enjoy it. Every now and again I go out and focus more on the fishing than the filming side of things so this was a little thrown together. This is my first time fishing this method too, so if you have any advice on how I can improve or tips to try I'd love to hear from you below!

Thanks mate! I was actually quite surprised about the bream, it was nowhere near as slimy as I expected it to be. Hardly at all! Maybe something to do with its environment

The duck you saw was a Mandarin duck. Windermere is England’s largest lake at 10.5 miles long, 1 mile wide and up to 220 foot deep. I enjoyed the video too 😃

First time commenting. My 8 year old loves your videos. We've watched every one of your videos (multiple times). I took her fishing for the first time last week in lake windamere and she caught a Bream, as her first ever fish. She did the whole lot herself. We used the rigged and ready x5 with maggots. We also met some of the rigged and ready staff on a pier and mentioned you. She'd like to know what's the biggest fish you've caught in Lake Windermere? Thanks.

Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! Really happy to hear you've been enjoying the videos and happy she caught a bream! I've not actually caught a very big fish from windermere yet, probably a pike of about 5 pounds. Something I need to work on this year!

I've always thought there were some decent coarse fishing to be had in the lakes. Windermere, bassenthwaite derwent water and I even saw people fishing on crummock water as a kid. Never thought about carp being in them tbh. Bet there's some right shoals of bream and roach though. Sure if keep at it you'll get into them..

The first species that comes to mind when I think of legendary Windermere fish that aren't pike are the ferox trout and arctic char, so it was a bit of a surprise when you said "carp" lol
@adventurefishinguk Жыл бұрын
I see what you mean mate but there’s plenty of Arctic char and ferox trout in there! People have caught them countless times over the years 👍 as far as catching a carp goes I can’t think of any times it’s happened!

There’s always mandarin ducks in my small local river, I didn’t even realise they were close to endangered for a while because I saw them all the time. Apparently only 65,000 left in the world.

They were Mandarin Ducks. They're an interesting species. The species is a native of China and Japan but they are seriously threatened in their native territory. They escaped from exotic wild fowl collections in this country and established themselves in the wild. Increasing in numbers all the time, it is thought that there are about 12 or 13 thousand of them in the UK. That means that the UK population is many times greater than that in their native China where there are probably only about a thousand left. Japan has a more robust population but even there there are only about 5,000. The total population globally is around 65,000 of which most are non-native introduced populations and a substantial proportion of that total are UK birds.

There are carp roach bream and dace in Windermere now introduced by idiots over the last 20 years. I live on Ullswater and the fishing on all the lakes since I was a kid has gone down hill massively 😢
@adventurefishinguk Жыл бұрын
I’d have thought roach and bream have always been in there? Not sure about dace though. Yeah I’ve heard stories of how good it used to be, it’s a shame but it’s still a fantastic place to be out fishing 👍
@oldbloke13511 ай бұрын
People are not suddenly putting coarse fish in Windermere, live baiting was banned over 20 years ago. Windermere is surrounded by coarse fisheries, Esthwaite is regarded as one of the best in the country. Many of them are connected to Windermere by streams, and coarse fish fry have undoubtedly washed into Windermere for many decades. In the past they never thrived. They couldn't compete with low nutrient species like trout, char, perch and pike. I think the recent surge in coarse fish numbers is down to water quality. Look at Google Maps satellite view. Windermere is now green! Similar Scottish lochs look black. The reason is simple. Those lochs don't have sewage from tens of thousands of Lake District residents and visitors flushing into them, raising nutrient levels to the levels coarse fish thrive in. The Rivers Trust map of raw sewage overflows is not encouraging! Char probably don't want treated sewage, never mind raw!!
@mickhardstaff6605 Жыл бұрын
Hi George, was it Lake Windermere you fished earlier this year with all the raw sewage running into the water ?

It was unfortunately yes!

Supposedly carp were released in Derwent and Windermere don't know if that's true mind.

I love these videos but I do feel like you should tell us your relation with the rigged and ready company. Are you the owner or being paid by the company to review these products? I think youre legally obligated to tell us but i'm not sure about that.
@adventurefishinguk Жыл бұрын
Sure, transparency is very important to me. I actually work for the company now as a part time marketing manager, but I don't get paid to make videos using the rods/promote them. I use them none exclusively in some of my videos because I genuinely love the compact and multi-purpose nature of the rods. As time goes on you'll see me using other gear too. In case you weren't aware, whenever a video includes advertising it will include a disclaimer at the start of the video saying 'includes paid promotion'. I hope this answers your question!
