If there are any citizens who weren’t able to graduate from elementary school they will be stuck forever as uneducated and won’t ever receive a higher educational status, so in order to have less uneducated citizens and prevent this from turning into a circle, the city will need to heavily invest in elementary schools.

Yet another amazing video, I feel like the post-update fixes have forced both cities to take a lot of really rapid growth and it’s great to see them become what they have. Some ideas/projects I’d love to see in future videos: 1) You talked previously about Riverview’s downtown probably needing some densification and I think an episode dedicated towards densifying everything, starting from downtown and out, would be really great and interesting to watch (although more residential demand is probably gonna be needed first). 2) A riverwalk would be incredibly cool, if its a tenable thing to do at all in CS2. If we could build wider paths, it’d definitely be interesting. Maybe a custom, skinny pedestrian only road would do the trick, though I don’t know if it’d get any use without businesses along it. Even better opportunity to put maybe cute shops along the riverwalk too? 3) One of my favorite things about Chicago or any city is when neighborhoods feel completely different from each other and have a general vibe or aesthetic to them. Getting off the train in Chicago’s art district, Pilsen, is a rush as you’re immediately flooded with murals across the entire train station and the steps down. Maybe some specializing and heavy detailing in specific parts of town would be cool. 4) A stadium area could definitely benefit the citys top down look, and it’s been pretty popular with other CS2 KZbinrs recently, and I’d love to see how you’d do it. 5) A full campsite with trails and state or national park, albeit not the most noticeable thing, would be a fun and very fitting addition
@theevilmoppet2 күн бұрын
If the city is broadly densified it would be a good time afterward to take another look at public transit and maybe add a new tram line connecting to the others that doesn’t go through the central transfer point in downtown, to lighten the ridiculous numbers transferring or getting off there.

I think it would be interesting to just tap into district policies, particularly adding speed bumps, large truck bans in neighborhoods, and maybe a roadside parking fee in dtwn as well as other policies. Might generate a chunk of change and will improve citizen's life quality.

I bet adding more primary extraction industry to the outskirts of your city would take a big bite out of the uneducated unemployment figure, and reduce reliance on imports for extracted raw materials in turn helping your manufacturing base (and tax revenues) to grow. With mountainsides across the city covered in pine you could have a nice little forestry district or two set up, and build it out towards unlocking the paper factory etc. The less-visited southern end of your map would be a great spot for this.
@filipboguszКүн бұрын
Great episode, as always. My suggestion is that it'd be nice if you add more farms and rural suburbs - as you've removed a bunch of them in the more recent episodes. It could also help the supply chain + solve the unemployment crisis even further.

As Riverview has been grown to a pretty big city since its establishment, what do you think of transferring the city theme into a more green and sustainable city, a challenge like real major cities nowadays are facing. Since you have a lot of mountains maybe you can think of adding wind turbines and geothermal to generate electricity and get rid of fossil fuel or nuclear related plants to start with. Not so much people broadcasting cities skylines2 has been up for this kind of challenge but I think you will be the one that can take this challenge.

@theevilmoppet2 күн бұрын
I live in Chicago. We have a lot of buildings downtown that look like the high density commercial stuff. Oftentimes when they’re on the taller side it’s because the top 3-5 floors are offices, but the rest is genuinely just a very tall vertical mall. One of them, I think it’s 6 floors, has an underground level with a couple shops that’s also a transfer between the two busiest metro lines.

It might be worth using a heavily-customized Realistic Population mod to gently rebalance tower capacity. It's too weird that a massive high-density level 5 office has the same or fewer employees than a low-density office. Same applies for high-density residential.

@voxelemurКүн бұрын
I really wish these initially larger "low density" office buildings could house multiple smaller startup companies, as is common with office buildings, and then later as the company grows it could create demand for larger offices and move out or kick the smaller companies out, which would move to either vacant high density or other newer low level low density offices.
@voxelemurКүн бұрын
If possible, it could solve the issue of having a 2-story level 1 building with only 30 employees when the job density could be much higher on the same floor footprint.

I for one really appreciate that you're playing the game and trying to work with the mechanics. While I appreciate the creators who can "paint" a perfect looking city, it's kind of underwhelming that they don't play with any constraints that would apply to a normal city. Not that the C:S2 simulation is perfect, but at least you're trying to play within the bounds of the game. It makes it more interesting. I would go so far as to say you should minimize the amount of pausing you do. I understand pausing if you're about the re-work a highway interchange or utility lines, and you don't want a major disruption. But trying to solve the unemployment/housing crisis in real time would be better than pausing and plopping down a magic new neighborhood or industrial park.

Hi Infra. I'm a little dissapointed on the state of CS detailer youtubers. I remember good old days when $2.20 used an excavator props to build a merry-go-round in his Springfield series and strictoaster used a bunch of stairs to tackle great height difference near a parking in his Nydal series. All of that was creative and surprising. Since CS2 came out, all youtuber videos are the same - meaning: make a random "organic grid" road layout, plop as many building as possible and try to match the theme of the buildings and use trees and decals as a finishing touch. I miss these creative works like stairs or self-made merry-go-rounds. CS2 videos are all the same, lacking creativity. Does anyone agree?
@InfrastructuristКүн бұрын
Hi Pawel! While I definitely get what you're saying about there being less heavy-detailing content, I don't agree at all that all CS2 videos are the same - just compare Sully's Los Angeles to a management-heavy 100 % Vanilla series. As for the current "lack" of detailing content, I can of course only answer for myself, but something I immediately liked about CS2 (despite all its flaws - ESPECIALLY on launch) is that the overall vanilla aesthetic is just much more realistic (or at least less of an eyesore) in comparison to vanilla CS1. Some CS2 buildings have such a great prop and surface layout and rotation that there's barely anything I want to change. Now don't me wrong, I loved detailing in CS1 and seeing it all come together, but at times it also felt like a chore - like something that was a necessity to make things look somewhat realistic, or just pretty. I also more or less completely ignored the simulation in CS1, finding it shallow, and while I know some people disagree completely, I personally just enjoy the actual city management part more in CS2. With all that said, this particular city (Riverview) is probably my least detailed, as it was started all the way back in early-access, before all the mods and techniques we know now. I suspect that there will be an increase in creative heavy detail builds as the asset editor is officially released with custom assets :-)

The unemployment rate decreased by 36%, primarily due to job creation and a shrinking labour force. Worryingly your labour force dropped by 10k from 99k to 89k (66,084 [employed] / (1 - 0.333 [unemployment rate]) = 99,069 labour force) to (70,409 [employed] / (1 - 0.213 [unemployment rate]) = 89,349 labour force). So you added ~4k jobs, but the labour force was significantly reduced by about 10k. I assume those who lost their jobs when the buildings were demolished just left the city rather than looking for a new job.

note-you’re highest rate of unhoused cims is in the Highly Educated category. Also, 30k of them are under-employed, so they are also cannibalizing jobs from well-educated workers. You could afford to raise residential property taxes on highly educated workers to 20% and it will help bring down both your unemployment and your rate of unhoused cims (without affecting happiness too much). 20%-30% is the red zone, which gives them more incentive to leave when they can’t find work or a home (instead of hanging out in a park somewhere).
