something to be mindful of is that these stories are written with a heavy bias for the city officials and developers, for the obvious reasons that they're meant to be a stand-in for phil and reflect his intent to make the city the best it can possibly be. yet just like business moguls and national politicians, these are positions of power that have _major_ influence on how people can live and what opportunities are available to them. their malevolence, negligence, and even innocent mistakes can have disastrous consequences on the people of their region and even the regions beyond, and every decision they make should be viewed with the same scrutiny as those made by any position of power 'course, the stories are gonna be written like a down-to-earth, semi-educational cartoon with a lot of likeable characters and simple moral conflicts, as they're just a way for phil to enhance the build by adding context and history to his decisions. it wouldn't really fit his chill and cozy vibe to do a deep dive example on how cities can end up with major ghettos that are difficult to fix up ( assuming that anyone in charge even _wants_ to do so to begin with, considering the reasons ghettos tend to pop up ... ), how the city budget can be poored into massive vanity projects as major issues plague its citizens, or how significant historical or cultural sights can be brought to the down just to put up a barely-used parking lot. shit sucks, and i doubt there's much of a desire from anyone for phil to play the bad guy to anywhere near that degree ... i mean, _i_ kinda do, but i also doubt either cities skylines is well-suited for that sorta thing, and i get how that could be p. damn draining for phil to do. it'd be something best suited for its own city, anyhow, given that a proper deep dive would delve into shit that'd more than deserve some significant content warnings. certainly be a _major_ swerve to suddenly inject into one of his normal feel-good builds

@hi-i-am-atan Don't worry, I watch City Anarchist Plays when I want the not so cozy less friendly Phil vibe. All that dude does though is kick out homeless and scream, "Emininent Domain!" And yes, EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING on the internet has a bias. World always has, glad people realizing that. I'd be curious to know what you think would be a good system for a city. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning, but it feels like a lot of what you described is greed and hindsight when it comes to bad decisions.

The Intercity bus route is still using the old, small transfer stop. In my mind the route should serve the cruise ship complex now. The existing stop probably shouldn’t go. It would allow you to transfer onto the local loop and get to the upper parts of Segunda Beach much faster than if you were to go into the cruise terminal, change and take an unneccessarily long journey (Because of the route’s layout as a loop).

Well done, the port turned out really amazingly! I noticed that something funny was going on with the one-way streets that were created to split that arterial up, the one going away from the port has a section of a two lane two-way street on one of the blocks, meaning that cars have to do a U-turn mid block where one direction of the street ends. At 28:05 it is clearly visible above the new police station, you can see the U-turn marking on the road.

the detailing on this one is excellent, i absolutely love that you plopped where it was absolutely necessary. Also just a suggestion, you could add back the bus stop near the police station, while removing the one in the mixed use area. This will ensure all stops are evenly spaced, while keeping the main shopping area undisturbed by stops.

@General_Madness13 күн бұрын
Kinda off topic, but one big thing I want the devs to add is mixed use commercial/office buildings. So a commercial building like a shop or restaurant on the first floor, and then offices above. We have them a lot in my city, so would be amazing to recreate some of those areas in game! I mean, even better would be customisable mixed use buildings, where you can choose some of the combinations, and maybe even have more than two, like some big skyscrapers have, where there is some business floors, some commercial space at the bottom, and residential further up. Just some ideas that would be great!

Well, thanks for spiking my blood pressure Phil. It's been 10 minutes since you said TABOR and I still haven't calmed down. The ONLY good thing I can say about TABOR is that it indirectly help get weed legalized in Colorado. Because of TABOR the Department of Education was so starved of funds they couldn't issue grants to build new schools. The legalization initiative specified that the first $X Million had to be spent on building new schools and voters leapt on it, even those who weren't necessarily thrilled with the legalization aspect.

Thats a great looking port - and definately reminiscent of Nassau. One concern is with the docks you added to the inside of the crescent - if I were a boater, I would be very weary of using those docks. In a marina, they use both sides of the docks to maximize the amount of revenue they can make by renting slips to boaters. The issue is with the docks being at an angle and so close to one another, it limits the types and sizes of yachts that can use those docks. I would recommend getting rid of the "middle" docks, and just have the ones at 9, 12, and 3 o'clock - it would give you the same amount of usable dock space while also giving boaters a safer place to navigate to & from their docks.

This looks amazing! I think it has the potential to develop into a historic quarter of the town, just a few more blocks with colorful buildings and maybe a big market square or so in the middle. What used to be the fishermans village and is now a major tourist attraction. You could also mix in a french school and some old villas for the richer merchants in the outskirts of the district (further inland)

If I were to suggest a huge update, would be increasing the modularity of the various service buildings. If you don't want a parking lot, go for it. You shouldn't lose zoning real estate. That beach peninsula you purchased, I can see some big resort or real estate tycoon's offspring move from Verde Beach and lay claim to this peninsula and build a beach front resort, akin to the BVI. A pedestrian focused resort filled with shopping, restaurants, parks, hotel-resort, private marina, and boardwalk. Call it an homage to the Hamilton Project.

i went on a vacation over the summer and transited from oslo, norway to copenhagen, denmark via a ferry. i could totally see there being something similar to that between verde beach and segunda! this would potentially drive tourism into town due to it being a fun way to get to and from town!

This port is looking a lot like the Seaport Village in San Diego! It looks amazing.

Thank you! Time to switch gears to the cargo port. Any suggestions? Likely looking at LA and Long Beach, but San Diego is probably a good bet, too!

@@CityPlannerPlays You should do something similar to LA-Long Beach port, but make it a flagpole extension like how it is in real life!

The German buildings work well jn this build. I was shocked how well they spawned in on their own. Great job Phil!

Phil going true "height of realism" here. lol How it would go IRL: 1. Citizens flood the alders with calls about how they support the port. 2. Citizens vote for the TABOR. 3. Alders announce port project is on hold until they can find other sources of funding. 4. Citizens flood the alders with angry calls demanding to know why the city isn't moving forward with the port.
