Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is fine, yes thats a reference, but it really is, it's not terrible, its just a bit weak I guess. In this video, I’m not going to go over every single detail of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, because we’d be here for hours and my fingers would die having to type that script, instead I’ll go over what is wrong with each case and Apollo Justice's plot , and my own preferred solutions for them. But eh let's stop wasting time and talk about how I’ll fix Turnabout Trump.

0:34 Turnabout Trump
4:19 Turnabout Corner
6:00 Turnabout Serenade
9:24 Turnabout Succession
14:42 Where would the series go from here?

By far my biggest complaint is Klavier has ZERO character development. He's basically this perfect guy right off the bat. I'd love to see some family history on how the two brothers ended up completely different. Also have him test his morals in turnabout succession, similar to phoenix in FMT. As a lot of people have stated Kristoph has to be mentioned more frequently, make him the new Von Karma show the player the extent of his actions. Even in DD and SOJ. One more thing is in the OG trilogy Gumshoe was the detective in all 3 games but in the new ones it's a new detective every time. A minor complaint I have with the new games is in the OG trilogy minor characters would reappear frequently, Lotta, Adrian, Will Powers e.t. And some of them have some growth over the games. But in the new games that's pretty rare for a minor characters to appear again. Just a subtle but effective thing.

Completely agree with you at the Klavier has no development part, but I think he is far from being perfect. 4-3 clearly showing his flawed side: being overcareful. Lost a keychain, and he has already called Ema for extra security. Daryan expresses his disdain for Klavier's meticulousness. And when things don't go smoothly for Klavier, his flamboyant facade starts to crack. He and Kristoph both share this perfectionist side, but the difference is Klavier has boundaries and only stops at ranting at ppl when things go wrong. Kristoph has no boundaries and goes as far as poisoning a 12-year-old child just for his plan to work flawlessly. And based on an interview about AA4 development where the brothers' scrapped backstory was mentioned, I think the dev originally planned to explore that dark side and why the Gavins are so similar yet so different but couldn't due to their rushed schedule. Maybe they left it for hypothetical AJ2 but such a shame that AA56's dev team is different from AA4's and they decide to abandon it. P/s: I'm not fluent in English, so I'm sorry if there are any unclear parts in my comment.

The reason why they reused characters was to save software space on the original gameboy cartridges. Even though it was for a different reason I feel like it gave the game more charm by sort of building on the world of ace attorney through its characters. The new games would feel better if characters weren’t just used for a simple purpose and were given actual development over time to make them feel real.

I read this one fanfic that gave him pretty good character developement, SPOILERS for AAI2: It was set after SoJ but in the fic klavier is talking with sebastian about blaise basically paying off everyone to get sebastian through themis as a top student and ends up realizing that kristoph did the same to him and he goes on this journey to khurain to help nahyuta rebuild the legal system. It was pretty well written even if i explained it badly lol

@@tranghoangmai4986 I don’t think klavier having a bad day shows him being not perfect. The OG mentioned that compared to miles, the coffee guy, and even francheska, there is no internal conflict with him or anyone. He’s just an unproblematic prosecutor, and that’s part of what makes him underdeveloped and boring.

@@tranghoangmai4986That's not really comparable IMO. Just try to compare him to the rest of OG main prosecutors. Edgeworth had a conflict of interest due to the trauma and Von Karma's upbringing, Francizka had no childhood and it shows because of her immaturity during trials and Godot had project his delf-hatred on Phoenix which lead to him having outbursts with Phoenix being on a receiving end of it. All of the flaws and quirks of the original main prosecutors are shown throught their respective games and further developed in later instaces, same can't be said about Klavier because AAAJ had neglected on fleshing him out as a character and instead focused only on one character while shoehorning "development" of others here and there and called it quits.

One of the biggest issues of the final confrontation against Kristoph is how underwhelming it is. It is ONE cross long. And by that point in the game, the player already knows everything that happened, so there's hardly any suspense. I've always thought that it could be made longer and more interesting by taking the *second half* of Turnabout Trump and using it for the finale. Re-write case 1 to end with Phoenix innocent, Kristoph not indicted, and no killer is named (or Olga Orly gets locked up until the end of the game). Also have the Mason System not explain *everything* to the player and leave it ambiguous who was actually behind it all. That way Apollo and the player can figure it out in the courtroom. When Apollo is forced to call his boss to the stand, Kristoph can still give his line about nail polish and having no connection to the case 7 years ago. But then, Apollo can bring up the Shadi Smith murder from 6 months prior, have Kristoph testify while getting more defensive, and Apollo can crack the case by answering the question of why he killed him. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

What about the whole stamp/poison motif? How would Kristoph have a defence for that, if his alibi of being in solitary confinement is... no longer valid, on account to the fact that he was never convicted of Zak Gramarye's murder? I agree that your interpretation of events, that Kristoph bring revealed as the villain later in the game would be more shocking ang engaging, story-wise, but I think you should also consider the whole issue of the Drew/Vera Misham case.

Honestly very genius but I do think the new game with a new cast of characters starting with Apollo’s Mia being the first murderer is so good and an amazing hook. And it’s the main reason people like 4-1 so much. I do appreciate the idea that it could be an even more interesting twist to have the first case be a standard tutorial case with a few lingering questions about why Klavier believes Phoenix must be guilty so badly, though. And then it turns out they arrested Orly wrongly even after she seemed so clearly evil and stuff with her transformation, and the big bad responsible for everything was with you all along. Honestly can’t decide haha

I'm gonna drop my own thoughts on this, after the last video. But before watching this. First: Make Turnabout Trump the second case. This gives us a bit more time to get used to Apollo as a character, without overshadowing him with Phoenix Wright. The first case would instead have Apollo defending an old friend of his - Clay, with Trucy serving as a witness for the case. As she is a witness for the prosecution, that means Kristoph cannot directly involve himself as the defense owing to a conflict of interest. Still, he is able to give Apollo some advice and serve the mentor role for the first case. Use this case to establish why Apollo wants to be a defense attorney, how much he looks up to Kristoph - and generally give him a goal of some kind, becuase he badly lacks that in the actual game. From there, you briefly have Apollo meet Trucy's father, who would have been referenced but not named directly - Phoenix, who takes an interest in Apollo and his bracelet. Making Turnabout Trump the second case does a lot of favours for it. For one thing, it lets you have an actual investigation section for the Borscht Bowl, and you can expand the suspects list slightly by having the owner present. It would only need a single day for the trial, though, and could basically play out the same way here. Third case... You don't need Turnabout Corner for anything, you can more or less go right to Serenade. I don't have any specific fixes in mind for this case - except remove the old 'the criminal is following the lyrics' routine which is so, so prevalent in Japanese mystery stories, and it only exists for the purpose of confusing the order of events to create an alibi for someone or pin the blame elsewhere. It's tiresome and unnecessary. Fourth case... Turnabout Mistake, or something like that. Have Apollo researching what happened with Phoenix Wright in more detail, and why he got disbarred. Do this the same basic way that set up Turnabout Beginnings, with the implications of it leading into the last case, Turnabout Succession. There's no real reason that the order has to happen like this, and for a change of pace, the investigation would happen *after* the trial's conclusion. Make it clearer that Apollo is piecing things together himself using the records. Fifth case, Turnabout Succession. By moving Phoenix's case to where it was, the tone can be set in a more natural way for the finale. My biggest problem with this case was that Phoenix's plan was really super lucky. How long were he and Edgeworth planning the Jurist System? Why was he allowed to be involved in the process? I might just scrap it, actually, and have something else nail Kristoph to the wall.

For Turnabout Corner, I would have preferred Alita to be a sympathetic culprit. Where she truly loved or at least liked Wocky, she was going to tell him the truth herself (she didn't say before because she didn't want him to live with his impending death in mind), she kills Meraktis pretty much the same as now, but Wocky intentionally sacrifices himself for his love because he is going to die anyway. But Alita has a change of heart as she doesn't want him to die for something she did. Alita as is felt like a poor man's Dahlia.

I really like your suggestion for Apollo having dreams about Kristoph, or if budget constraints are a concern for this imaginary revision, just having him mention the dude a little more. It would really set up a stronger internal conflict. I love Apollo, he’s one of my favorite characters, but most of the actual interest in his character comes from how AA4 set up possible directions for him that the following games didn’t even try to pick up on, which makes him a bit of a poor protagonist.

What if Turnabout Serenade's defendant wasn't the blind kid, but rather Klavier himself? This way, he won't be bickering with his colleague and bandmate to throw him in jail, but rather he is just watching. Throwing in comments, to help his bro. This way, Winston Payne shows up and takes the Third Case instead of the Tutorial. No loss of Payne. Less stupidity in Serenade.

So something to note here: because of the visual novel format of Ace Attorney, and because there's not really any art or voice files that would need creation (maybe a couple of small edits of pictures or something here and there), an edit like this would be entirely possible as a ROM hack for the game. This series has already seen fan games, but I think a rewrite of Apollo Justice would be not just possible but also seriously plausible. I really hope someone picks this up because I think it'd be a really cool thing for the community to have.

I think Apollo's friend, Clay Terran, could have played a pivotal part in Apollo's overall character development in Apollo Justice and brought a whole new meaning to Turnabout Serenade. Instead of having Machi Tobaye be accused of murdering LeTouse, It will be Terran, who came to visit Apollo, who is pinned for the crime after he is found unconscious next to LeTouse's body after being interrogated by him for stealing the egg(since Crescend attempted to pin the smuggling crime on him). This setup will give Terran some much needed backstory on his and Apollo's relationship. It will also add to their relationship by having Terran console Apollo after he deals with the reality of Kristoph, his mentor, being a murderer and struggling with his own morality on whether or not he is meant to be a defense attorney in the first place. It would also be cool to see Apollo hesitate on whether or not to use Kristoph's malicious tactics, even if it may lead to saving his friend.

About that last comment in the "Where would the series go from here?" - that gave me an idea - what if we were to swap DD and SoJ around? Like think about it. Remove all of Athena from SoJ (Because she really wasn't that present there anyways), so that you could have a Phoenix/Apollo focused game - Phoenix gets to meet Maya in Kurain, Apollo gets to tackle the Grammaryes in "America", and the two still get to have their Turnabout Revolution civil trial beef. But now there's free space for Apollo to have an extra case somewhere in there. It would also simplify Apollo's backstory, as SoJ would happen immediately after AJ, no Clay Terran, just Dhurke and Jove. Then, in DD, you'd have a Phoenix/Athena game, leave Apollo completely out of it, as he's in Kurain. Focus on the whole drama surrounding Blackquill and the Phantom. There would of course need to be a bit of plot restructuring, as DD leaned heavily into the 'Dark age of the Law'. But I think that you could handle it by referencing it a few times in SoJ, and stating that it was unresolved in SoJ because the two biggest lawyers were out of country. There'd be some plot contrivances that would have to be ironed out, but I think it's an interesting idea.
@SSL_2004

Honestly of all the things mentioned in this video, I think Apollo getting a second game at the least is the most important. Acting as a connective tissue between Dual Destinies, since DD pretty much discarded everything about AJ. Further Phoenix's character arc toward becoming his more chipper self, include Clay, and foreshadow his relation to Khura'in far in advance instead of just popping both of those things into existence and expecting you to care about them (Dhurke was at least done WAY better then Clay), explain where the hell the Jurist System went instead of just taking the main thing that took down the big bad of the previous game and throwing it off a cliff, etc etc. This theoretical game's existence alone could fix so many things about the series as a whole, because as it is AJ and DD & SoJ feel lightyears apart.

A few ideas: *1) Don't nail Kristoph as the killer at Turnabout Trump.* Said it a million times, but this is to allow the player to spend time and bond with him so that the reveal of him being the villain and murderer would actually land a gut punch beyond the initial shock value. This would also allow foreshadowing of his motive (i.e. Kristoph pushing and manipulating Apollo into taking high-profile cases even against Apollo's will) so that it doesn't land flat like it did at the actual game. *2) Give Apollo a stronger motivation for being a lawyer* Apollo isn't a bad character per se, but he's an incredibly weak protagonist in this game due to his lack of agency and motivation throughout the game. In the start of the game, it's clear that Apollo does admire Phoenix, so they could have easily make his character be driven by his desire to clear Phoenix's name, or alternatively... *3) Make Ema Skye the protagonist instead* In Apollo Justice, Ema Skye has become more bitter and jaded due to being denied her dream job of being a forensic scientist, which actually parallels with disbarred Wright. Not only that, besides Phoenix and the Judge (and Director Hotti but I'd rather forget that one), she is the only returning cast member from the original trilogy in the "present". This means that besides the Judge, she's the only one who we saw interacted with the Phoenix Wright we knew back in the original trilogy, so both characters already have an established connection with each other. Both of these would give Ema a pretty strong motivation and connection with the past Phoenix Wright, something Apollo sorely lacked. The game would have been so much more compelling if it were about Ema not only trying to prove that she's worthy of being a forensic scientist, but also trying to find evidence to clear her friend's name. Not only that, the fact that she was stuck working with a prosecutor whom she believed was responsible for Wright's disbarrment could be played up for drama as well, and having her as the protagonist could also give her time to react to the revelation that Klavier himself was manipulated by Kristoph to help disbar Wright (which for some reason, we were never shown despite being the perfect material to have character growth between them).

I feel like they really did Ema an injustice with her character. Finding out that years later down the line, with all the passion and knowledge she had in Rise from the Ashes, she couldn't make it to be a forensic scientist is really disheartening. But I think your idea works amazingly with that, I also completely agree with you that Kristoph shouldn't have been nailed in the first trial. Turnabout Trump should be the second trial in the game. Give us a good fun tutorial case, followed by an amazing case that really hooks us into the game.

@@pokemayhearts IMHO if they didn't want to give Ema her dream job as a forensic scientist, they should have absolutely done something with it by making it one of her main motivations throughout the game that she would get by the penultimate or final case. Maybe even spice things up by reveal that she actually didn't fail the forensics exam at all, but her superiors had tampered with her exam results to make it look like she did. And agreed with Kristoph and the cases. It would work pretty well too if the first case simply lulls the player into a false sense of familiarity, then have the second one completely pulls things under the rug.

This would completely change the whole game but one idea i had would be that Phoenix would be found guilty in Turnabout Trump giving Apollo and Kristoph some much needed screen time together. There are questions to be answered like why Trucy is there (Maybe Nick told her to watch over Apollo or something) But either way there would be scenes hinting at Kristoph being suspicious/pulling the strings and Apollo feeling like Nick wasn’t really guilty. It would come to a head in Turnabout Succession where Nick is one trial for killing (maybe both but that might be too dark even for aa) Misham You would take his case contrary to Kristophs instructions, the first time you really disobey him It would end like Turnabout Goodbyes with you finding Nick innocent for both crimes and finally pointing the finger at Kristoph. (This would also give more brother time for Klavier and Kristoph because Kristoph would be your assistant in one or two trials) The Mason and Jurist System would probably be cut because they end up disappearing after Succession anyways. It would be replaced with more of a Nick flashback between trial day 1 and 2

I was taken out of Turnabout Serenade completely the moment they dug the bullet out of the wall - the bullet that had passed through the victim's shoulder. We can SEE where it entered the wall, and it PROVES Machi couldn't have shot him because the angle trajectory matches up with an adult firing the gun, not a short kid, even if he wasn't blind. If Machi had fired it normally, the bullet would be in the ceiling. So what was he doing? Standing on a chair and letting himself be flung off by the recoil? And the victim would let him just DO that? Does Turnabout Serenade bother to address this piece of elementary police work and deduction? Does it BOLLOCKS.

An idea I had, one that is more aimed at changing some of the games core plot, was to end case 1 in a false verdict where Kristoph actually gets away with it and an witness, probably Orly or a new witness after, gets done in for the murder instead. Phoenix forging the card wouldn't happen, instead Kristoph would be the one to fabricate evidence prior to the trial to cover his tracks of the crime instead and then giving Apollo the information during recess when Phoenix starts to get very suspicious of him, as he knew he was there and knows the 'evidence' is contradictory, but he can't prove it. While Apollo's mentor being the case 1 culprit on Apollo's first ever trial is a good twist, I felt like he shouldn't really be caught in case 1, leaving it to the finale to unravel everything and having a more satisfying breakdown for the player - (because what we actually got was basically taking down the exact same guy as we did before....but this time with an actual breakdown). Since he gets away with it, just give him more time to develop between him and Apollo, as well as Klavier, and how his distaste for Phoenix becomes more apparent as the game goes on as Apollo would occasionally meet him. I haven't fully thought out this idea, Case 2/ 3/4 would obviously need some changing up to do for this idea to fully work. Like I'd still want Trucy to still be the assistant in cases but idk because Apollo would still be under Kristoph law offices.

Birth father is dead, his mother is presumed dead, he doesn’t appear to have any other relatives in japanifornia. perhaps in a rewrite, kristoph and klavier’s parent(s) also worked in the law industry, and knew / became good friends with dhurke. dhurke send apollo off to live with them. This would make apollo have a slightly closer relationship with klavier and kristoph, although not too close because of the age gap and them probably going away to school. Close enough where he has more personal stakes but not where they would’ve convinced him wright presented forged evidence.

my revisions would be more drastic I think, not to the point of uprooting the story but changing case order. I'd want a psuedo-case 3 in the place of case 1, when the Gavinners had a newbie in their ranks under fire for a crime he didn't commit which was done by the same culprit. You can keep Payne and have Klavier actually on your side cheering for you because he knows the new band member wouldnt have it in him, even if the rest of the band thought him to be guilty. It also leaves room to build a seed of trust with the player believing Kristoph and Apollo's relationship is actually genuine to turn it around in what I think should be the second case, turnabout trump. The only thing to add here is just a softer moment of maybe Kristoph maybe should that Apollo should have reason to doubt his faith in his client, only for Apollo to ignore this, surprising even Kristoph. Turnabout Trump can actually stay relatively the same, but I'd say to add the phoenix case flashback here, to tie the disbarring to the present more immediately, and to give it a bit more runtime for the case. Also of course having Klavier in makes its connect the two brothers together in court, and even have Klav doubt everything that goes on in court since he and his brother and there and he'd have no reason to doubt their relationship. Next is Corner, which can stay the same as well, but I love the dream idea so that Apollo is actually torn up about the whole situation. I'd place at the end here the stuff about contacting ??? about the Mason system, but retroactively make it more like the juror system in Great Ace Attorney. Which leads to the final case succession, which I believe should have 3 "parts" to it, where you have to basically solve the case in three different ways to convince three jurors that Kristoph committed the crime, all leading to the conclusion. This is the case I haven't thought the most about, but I feel it should have a solution different than that that Phoenix would have come up with himself, showing to him that the cards were never totally in his hands and that Apollo can truly uphold justice in his own way, separate from that of his old mentor Kristoph and his new mentor Phoenix.

Appolo never got the chance to shine because of it because Phoenix was still the star of the show, they tried to overcorrect with Athena in 5 and 6 is just kinda sad amd desperate fan service. I wish they commited to Appolo and make Athena his "Maya". They could have made Phoenix an epic cameo at the end of 4 as a kinda old generation passes on to the new and we never see him again. With the change of setting, The Great Ace Attorney amd the Edgeworth spin offs did such a better job at it by just making an entirely new cast. I wish that if they do a new trilogy in the main series that they just start from scratch and just write good new characters instead of ruining the old ones a bit more with each new game.

I'm going to make two comments, this one is gonna have some more general points I wanna make about AJ and your edits, and one that is gonna make a simpler point because I think it's important. I'll separate this comment case by case. Turnabout Trump: I think I like your changes for the most part. I like Klavier being directly involved in this trial, and I think otherwise this case is pretty great. The main issue for me is that it still worries me because it essentially burns off the main twist of the whole game in case one, leading to a fairly anticlimactic feeling when you do finish Succession. More on that later. Turnabout Corner: I saw a video a while ago where someone had an idea to make the villain of this case actually sympathetic, and I think this change would actually fix a couple of the issues this case has in terms of forgettableness and character development. The basic gist is, Alita actually does love Wocky and killed the victim because she thought he might kill Wocky, and the issue might arise where you figure some of this out and have to decide if losing the trial is worth it to save Alita because Wocky is going to die anyways. I would have to flesh this out more, but I don't necessarily think this case has to be just a simple case or have no edits to still work with the story. It could be an early defining moment for the ways Apollo deals with the difficult dillemmas of the courtroom. Turnabout Serenade: The logical points as you mentioned are pretty weird, and I agree that the magic trick time wasting stuff is kinda stupid. Honestly, this case is one of my least favorites in the entire series, mainly because I'm a huge twist guy (as you'll see) and the case basically goes "Wait.... could Daryan really be the KILLER?!? BUM BUM BUM" and then immediately "oh yeah he was the killer lol ok ezpz" like it wasn't already obvious just by process of elimination who it was. My other gripe is, Klavier's bandmate and Apollo's LONG LOST MOTHER are both in this case and (this'll specifically be a complaint because of something that happened in the next case) despite that, this case is a boring filler with details and a mystery that have absolutely nothing to do with the finale. Like, no things that happened in this case are mentioned or are important to the finale. Which brings me to... Turnabout Succession: Okay, I disagree pretty hardcore with what you say on this one for one main reason: I still don't feel like this case does anything particularly cohesive for me. Namely, I'm at least glad you mention that the painting thing gets kinda dropped and doesn't really play any huge role, but the big problem with the painting thing is, it actually had some other implications for me when I first did this case. Basically, when I saw the paintings, the meaning of it for me was that there was some greater plan going on with the events of Apollo's trials and some of the specific details of each trial playing a role in the villain's plan. The problem here is that I feel like this idea is so cool and fun that what the case actually does just kinda falls flat in comparison, which made Succession really weird to play where I liked what happened but felt like everything kinda led to its own dead end. I mean, I've now played one of the main fan games for this series (I won't spoil which one) where they do exactly this (make every single case in the game plot relevant to the finale) and it's fucking amazing and probably one of the coolest bits of the entire thing, why can't mainline Ace Attorney do this?? Then the Gramarye story just kinda stops before the trial, and it's sad because I actually really love how the 7 year old trial gets resolved but then the rest of the story just kinda... has nothing to do with it really. Basically, I think the final trial and maybe even part of the MASON system should tie things together and bring in some actual stakes. I mean, Kristoph being the sole killer again literally means that even if we didn't win, he'd still be convicted of murder and it would just kinda be sad that the defendant is convicted (someone we met like 3 days ago). I have some ideas rolling around but I haven't really been able to connect them correctly, I'll have to think more on it. Also brief note: a lot of people think the MASON system sucks and should be scrapped.... I personally absolutely love it and think the series should do more interesting stuff like this. I love the idea that details of a mystery only allow us to progress once we know they exist, regardless of chronology. Obviously, you have to keep chronology into account for the events of the actual story to make sense, which is the part that could do with some brushing up on and better explaining, but otherwise I really love it and wouldn't ever wanna scrap it. The case would feel much worse without it. I like that the issue of changing Apollo Justice to improve it is getting at least a video that gives it some traction in the community. It's something I've been thinking about recently actually, and I think it'd be cool to see what changes could be made.

After watching this I do enjoy the rewrite here alot though the only change here I would probally do with having Winston Payne act as the prosecutor in the flashback case of Pheonix's disbarment. Since I do recall their brother gaspen payne mention of their I guess rivalry even though its not even the case lol but could work for if we did need another tutorial prosecutor somewhat motivation carrying onwards. Probally adds on to Phoenix's Ego then too since his facing the prosecutor he kind of beat twice already from the trilogy. But then be like wtf from the forged evidence with winston bragging about his victory against the legendary phoenix wright that the other prosecutors failed to do or something? but I don't know. If not then I am not apposed to the default main prosecutor from start to finish though it certainly be neat and a change of pace there.

I think your Turnabout Trump needs another change: Kristoph has to mantain his innocence even after being dragged out of the courtroom and keep his cool when shown the fake card, only questioning its validity as it was produced by his employee Apollo yet he was not aware of it. This change would serve many purposes: - It'd make the player question whether Kristoph is truly guilty or if this is another Adrian Andrews. - It will also make the reveal that the card was fake feel much worse. You might have sent an innocent man to prison on forged evidence, all to get a disbarred attorney off the hook. - It'll give room for Klavier's development, as now he might blame Apollo for his brother's conviction, and if Kristoph eventually confesses he'll know about the card forgery and be even more disgusted with both Phoenix and Apollo The more i think tweaks the more the case resembles McGilded's so i should stop here

I do agree about Klavier, he was way too dismissive about people close to him being murderers. Actually, I do believe that if he had animosity towards Apollo after losing to him in Turnabout Trump, sending his brother to jail, and then after Daryan is proven guilty his resolve shakes a bit. Then coming around in the last one, seeing his brother for who he truly is and feeling trapped like “Damn, he’s a monster, and he’s right, we don’t have direct evidence” only to be given hope from the jury system Apollo reveals as a retort. Thus renewing his faith in justice and gaining respect for Apollo. I also agree, they introduced a third attorney too soon. They could’ve held off on Athena for one more game, focus on Apollo for the next couple games, then maybe have a case where he lets her take the lead, like the second case, and so we have a new attorney set to lead 7 that the fan base is introduced for while Apollo is doing his thing at the end.

Phoenix Wright hadn’t been the main character of his own series for 9 years by the time Dual Destinies arrived. Of course they’d want to put him front and center It’s similar to having Dante be playable in DMC5 after his long absence. Apollo and Nero didn’t have enough depth to command a title solely on their own, so they needed to co-star with their respective series protagonist as well as a new lead so they could properly be built up

I think for future games, let Apollo have a second game of his own around him, Trucy and the Gramareys.et that cover the territory of Apollo's backstory. At the same time, instead of cutting out Athena, give her her own game that covers most of Dual Destinies where she meets phoenix, then the 3 converge for one final game.

I also think it would be cool if the jurist system ITSELF was a piece of evidence...one that appears when Kristoph says that there's no definitive evidence at the end of the evidence list. Alternatively have it added earlier as something minor and not immediately obviously the final nail in the coffin

Ok so klavier should've definitely been the prosecutor in the first case So that it wouldve given the fourth case a lot more impact The second case should be completely redone, it's boring, and it's even more ruined by stictler The third case was actually pretty good upon me replaying it but they need to make the police not stupid Ah yes, this blind child shot someone with a gun that would dislocate a grown man's shoulder and his shoulder is fine And he did it twice! The cocoon smuggling thing was actually a fun mystery though and the video footage wasnt nearly as tedious as the one in rise from the ashes And the final case is fine, it just needs to be more cohesive How I would personally fix this, make klavier the prosecutor in all 4 trials so that he gets a moment with kristoph in the first and last trials Make the third trial the second one Add a new third trial with trucy as the defendant like they did in spirit of justice, because trucy ia a great character and her personality wasnt fully fleshed out or done justice until spirit of justice Make the fourth trial make more sense And finally, TELL TRUCY AND APOLLO ABOUT THE SIBLING THING ITS BEEN 3 GAMES THEY SHOULDVE BEEN TOLD AT THE END OF APOLLO JUSTICE I swear the devs actually forgot until the end of spirit of justice when in the credits they bring it up out of nowhere Honestly this game has a lot of potential especially with Apollos gimmick Trying to find small nervous twitches on people is the perfect mix of interesting and challanging

The big problem with AA:AJ is that every character except Apollo, Klavier, the dead interpol dude, and maaaybe Trucy is an asshole. Zak Gramarye especially. On the note of characterization: Miles Edgeworth has one of the most interesting arcs in gaming, but none of the character arcs really hit in this game. Many people think that Kristoph shouldn't be the culprit of the first case, that this is too much for the first case, but Turnabout Trump was amazing because of it. Now, it would be better to have him and Phoenix clash more through the game, so maybe, since you were talking about subverting the format, what about having a case with no guilty veredict? Have Kristoph clearly pointed as a suspect but have him get away with it with lawyer tricks thanks to lack of decisive evidence, the judge rules that there's not enough evidence and both are declared not guilty. This would set up the need of something like the jurist systen from the get go, set up Kristoph as a guy immune as the law as it stands, and let both free for Apollo to feel doubt and go to one or the other, showing why he had such a strong admiration for Kristoph in the first place. Maybe even after fleshing out a bit his perceive ability, have Kristoph still be able to lie to his face (either because he's just that good or because Apollo trusts him too much) while Phoenix shows signs of lying then and there. And have Phoenix remain a bit of a scumbag, he's dealing with his own resentment and distrust of the legal system, even if he's innocent, make even us doubt him a bit. And for the love of God at least give us a snippet of what do Maya and Edgeworth think of Phoenix's situation. Maya could be saved for the next game because with her it would come an encounter with Mia too, and that would be too much for the first game, but Edgeworth is the chief prosecutor, there's no way he doesn't know anything about what happened to Phoenix. I would buy that Phoenix deliberately withdrew from both of them, but even having a single chat with them from Apollo's POV would be nice. And Klavier would be the first prosecutor to benefit from being a dick, it would make sense, Apollo betrayed his brother and joined Wright the cheating bastard who forged evidence. He should hate Apollo and constantly think that Apollo is cheating too. Next game he can be nicer as he realizes that he was wrong.

Have Klavier be the defendant and get rid of the blind kid angle and Lamiroir(I like others’ idea of having the prosecutor be a more competent Payne who’s learned from his mistakes) C. Have the band member be a red herring villain and have the murderer be an obsessed fan to comment on Stan culture and things like that. D. In said murderers obsessive nature I think it would make more sense for the murder to be meticulously planned to lyrics of the music.

Honestly, I still personally don't think Apollo Justice is that bad as a game or even as a Ace Attorney one (still would enjoy it over JFA any day for one lmao), it's just that the first case is so good right out the bat that it does make things a bit more underwhelming when the two other cases come in However, if I wanted to fix the game, honestly? I'd just shuffle some of the cases around and only change a few things; which cases I'd want to be shuffled or what I'd want changed would be as follows: Case 2 > Case 1: Frankly, I'd think that the second case would be a pretty good tutorial case IMO, just take out the investigation portions altogether and have just the trial portion, along with maaaaaaybe changing Wocky to Eldoon as the defendant instead since I feel he would fit a bit better in this hypothetical scenario, maybe having his rivalry with Meraktis play a bigger role by having him frame Eldoon for murder or something I dunno; along with that, you could also have Apollo have a monologue at the beginning and introduce himself and Trucy to the player, along with mentioning Phoenix and how he had a mentor before but "something" happened and Phoenix took on that role instead, everything else stays the same btw Case 3 > Case 2: Basically, just have that be Klavier's introductory case lol; I wouldn't change much about the case itself outside of trimming the fat a slight bit, but have most of it stay the same basically Case 1 > Case 3: Basically have this be a flashback case that introduces Apollo's former mentor (Kristoph) and have Klavier be more involved with it as well since there isn't as much of a need to throw in Payne this time thanks to it being the third case of the game, along with answering that "something" he mentioned at the beginning of the game; everything else stays the same Case 4: No need to change it lol; personally, just the mere fact Case 1 directly ties to it this time is already enough, and barely any changes to the actual case are required, outside of maaaaaybe some kind of dialogue about how Phoenix lost his badge in the other cases, but it's not really that necessary IMO That's how I'd do it anyway; I know it isn't much, but frankly I just don't understand the hate for AJ:AA and there really isn't a lot I'd personally like it changed lol

I can't feel for him because he hardly ever seriously emotes to anything. I didn't like any of the cases from this game, which is a first for me. Case 1 was just okay, case 2 was plagued by really annoying and/or forgettable characters, case 3 is imo the worst in the franchise, and case 4 was just a mess. If I could fix AJ, I would Change the cases' order. Turnabout Corner, Serenade, Trump, and then succession Turnabout Trump remains the same (only Klavier is the prosecutor and Trucy is with us). Also, Apollo and we feel betrayed by Kristoph since we spent so much time with him Turnabout corner Apollo defends walkie with Kristoph Since Walkie is from the mafia, I would make them actually involved in the story (maybe threaten Apollo to win an acquittal or else). Alita should be a sympathetic killer. At first, she wanted to steal the money, but as time went on and now that Walkie is covering for her, she developed feelings for him and confessed to everything, including murder (the mafia should also appear in other cases). Reduce panty jokes for Pete's sake. The sticker is horrible. Rewrite him as a smug, intelligent, and kind witness (it would be interesting to see a smug and kind witness). We meet Phoenix at the hospital. Serenade (the case should evaporate from existence; it is so bad). Kristoph is here with us again. First of all, make Klavier a suspect and Machi a witness (somehow). Laminoir should not be involved as a witness since the "window" and the magic trick were annoying AF. Of course, don't overuse the lyrics in court. And the pacing is horrendous (so much time is wasted on trivial things as window and magic trick etc.). Daryan works as a culprit, as you said. Klavier should be more emotional about Daryan. IMO, the Mafia should be involved with Coccons, not the Chief Justice. I would connect Kristoph to the mafia. Since Daryan is being uncovered as a smuggler for the mafia, Kristoph would try to cover for him (but then explain via phone that Daryan is a lost cause so he would not drive suspicion upon himself). Also, Winston is the prosecutor (yes, for a long case). And then Turnabout Succession The case works, but I would change: The Mason System is so time-consuming that I would reduce the time spent on this and increase the time spent on the trial itself, and of course, explain what Mason is. Phoenix can be cocky, just not so much. The disbarment is hard to fix. Phoenix should question how Klavier knows that this is fake evidence. The judge should not be so quick to disbar Phoenix. Phoenix should fight for his innocence. Maybe make that because Mafia Phoenix could not take a retrial for his innocence, and if Kristoph is not in jail, he can't take the badge back (I don't know how to fit this in the story though). So in Turnabout Succession, maybe make him a lawyer at the end? As this video said, Misham should feel guilty for forgery, so he is killed by Kristoph. Make Klavier more emotional. Make the trial longer. connect Apollo to Kristoph Make him say about Jurist system(apollo is A frickin puppet in AJ it is insulting) Edgeworth should be involved (in the Mason system). Taking Kristoph down again would anger the mafia, so there is suspense since Kristoph would get out because of their influence. But Walkie convinced his father to help us. Make Vera almost found Guilty Make Phoenix use false evidence against Kristoph. Make Apollo question Phoenix's sense of justice and his morality, and make him not take the same path as Phoenix's. So Phoenix can see that Apollo could do it alone and bring Phoenix a true sense of justice. After the trial, Klavier should talk with Wright about this forged evidence, etc. And that's it. What do you think about my way to fix AJ

I think its a perfectly good game that gets overhated a lot. Dont see the reason to "fix" it, that kind of implies its dogshit. So, I dont know why this video ended up in my recommended but from my perspective it seems like its just being verry negative towards this great game.

As someone who really dislikes the mood matrix system and how the judge is always like, "sure! therapy right now? there's never been a better time!" I wouldn't hate not having Athena in Dual Destinies. I like her character plenty! She could actually still be in that game as a character with a tragic backstory that Apollo saves, and then be playable in a later entry. Apollo only getting one game that is barely about him, then being retconned into being the main character of SoJ after Athena takes that spotlight from him... It's so messy. And the mood matrix is the worst (repeated) courtroom gimmick in the series.

Honestly I know it's common form for rewrite challenges like this to try and keep the same basic structure as the original while fixing the problems but like- As much as I like AJ I think I'd just kind of start from the ground up. I'd still keep a lot of it, like the basic idea of the story being about Phoenix's disbarment, but considering the game only has four cases and two of them are basically filler, it's kind of a situation where to *really* fix it you need to just kind of start from scratch to a degree. Also doesn't help that DD, which, to put it quite frankly, I think is the absolute worst game in the series, only rivaled by the giant nothing burger that is Investigations 1 and its rock bottom final case, just throws out everything about AJ. I'm using this partially as an excuse to rant about that game because of what a cowardly step back it is, and what a baffling decision introducing Athena was. It's such a bland game, too. The whole thing feels like it's asleep until the final case wakes the fuck up and gets good. Just a complete waste. Assume it doesn't even exist if you're rewriting AJ, tbh. Pretend Apollo got a proper trilogy instead of the constant backstory retcons and then introduce Athena after.

To be entirely fair and also kinda unfair to AJ, the earlier games also very much swim in "filler content". They just had enough substance that people tend to barely notice, which ends up the issue AJ facing in the end.
