Question about those dead or "expired "traps, those that appear black. What do you do with them, or do they take care of themselves? Can you cut them off? Does the plant need to grow another trap from the ground up? Will a trap grow there if you cut off that dead black trap? I don't know!

When a trap becomes fully black, it eventually also becomes somewhat dry and crispy. At that stage you can gently tug on it and it should easily disconnect from the rhizome of the plant. If it doesn’t come off easily, wait another week then try again. It eventually comes out. Flytraps also continuously create new traps so you never need to worry about that
