Bro said “an ugly version of a popular car” and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Long front end with the aggressive grill and short back end makes it an awesome looking car.
@joshpeck58429 ай бұрын
I disagree. Objectively it’s definitely nowhere near its Ford counterpart, the ugliness makes it cool. Just like how Ford trucks in the 70s were ugly but it made them cool, when Chevy made a far superior looking truck aesthetically

70s Ford trucks were absolutely not ugly, the squarebody only looks good because it's a square
@joshpeck58428 ай бұрын
@@boss9mustang404 yes they were ugly, I’m not saying I hate them. I do like them but yes they objectively did not win any beauty pageants like chevy did. Hence why they’re worth half the square bodies are now. But that ugliness is a badass ugliness, just like a rat rod is ugly because it’s rusty and falling apart, still cool. But not aesthetic and that’s the point of them
@boss9mustang4048 ай бұрын
@@joshpeck5842 I've never seen any 70s Ford truck as ugly, nor have I ever heard anyone say that they're ugly. 60s, sure, but definitely not 70s. Squarebodies are worth more simply because of media hype, when in reality they're absolute junk compared to the Ferds from a material and construction quality standpoint.

FYI: The front friction is smaller than the rear because the front shoe is "Self energizing" Meaning the rotation of the drum with the car going forwards will pull the loose end of the shoe (top) into the drum. The rear is opposite. It is not self energizing so needs more friction surface to help keep braking forces even. Some old trucks have the both shoes self energizing by having two pivots and the shoes pointing the same way. (old guy)

oh yeah, Fry'brg is WAY wrong about it being an ugly version of a popular car. Its what the firebird is to the camaro :) I own a 67 mustang convert (my hurst shifter looks like the one they're banging) and would take an affordable cougar in a second. wouldn't need to be a Clevie, either. This was the generation that can swallow a big block or a stroker windor or if its a lightweight base model, a 289 with stiff gears and a T5 would be perfectly fine for me

This is like the spitting image of my own 1967 Cougar purchased in 1995, that was originally Lime Frost Green covered over with Candy Apple Red paint that was poorly sprayed on! The vinyl top was only left over on the pillars so I stripped it all off and sprayed the roof matte black. Then eventually painted the car a dark blue metallic.
@garycook23553 жыл бұрын
I was glad to see that you put new wheels and tires on the Cougar. the before camera shots showed a that the wheels were warped. the amount of headliner blowing in the wind was impressive also. you could of avoided the broken u-joint by installing some traction masters (tm) on the rear end. I started drag racing in 1963 so I think that I picked up a few tricks in all of those years.
