lapping can help a few degrees on some cpu, depending on the surface, i did a lot years ago, it need couple hours and much patience to do it right. At least it never failed, not worse than not lapping anyway.

Thermal paste needs to be able to hold up in an extreme range of temperatures, ranging from -10°C to >100°C. It can't melt and just flow away and it can't turn into a solid block. Some of these alternatives may work short term, but only within a very narrow range. And it can't be corrosive or cause skin irritations. You're never going to get anything like this combination with what you find in your fridge or bathroom. And is it really worth possibly damaging your PC just because you couldn't wait a day or two for your thermal paste to be delivered? Or just drive to a local PC shop and pick some up. Even premium paste from Noctua, Arctic and Thermal Grizzly will only improve temps by maybe 2-3°C.
