At the bottom of our off grid land we have a well, 300 meters or 900 feet at the top where our fruit forest is is where we need the water. Can we get a pump fitted that will get all that lovely water to the top of our land?

Dom -- you just got an A in Fluid Mechanics -- a Civil Engineering course :o) Where to house the pump -- hummmmm You don't want the pump to get wet or bake in the sun/heat. The little concrete area could fill with rain water so even tho it felt right you might have a problem. Build a little wooden/brick house for the pump and elevate the pump several inches above the ground. Build a roof that is rain proof but can be lifted up -- like a box within a box. Make sure there is air circulation around the pump. Do not store the petrol in the pump house -- gas fumes and pumps can go kaboom. Check to make sure the well is not on a flood plain. If it is -- figure you will need to remove the pump in the winter or if major rain is forecasted. You have a good head on your shoulders!!!

Thanks was all new to me working out the elevation and head height etc, so happy with the result 💚👌 All good as we've finished the pump box, has a lid, has drainage pipe/hole at the bottom and plenty of air intake and space around the pump. Just need to paint or varnish the lid and all finished ❤️ Shower block next!

So fun to watch your videos! I loved seeing Missy swinging that hammer with gusto, with her lovely purple hair and wearing a dress! A great 'Go Women' moment! The walk (hike?) uphill will keep you all in good shape as the years go by, wearing down a natural pathway.. In a different video? I saw that they had put a black cover (made specifically for it?) over their IBC tanks to keep out the green that grows inside (difficult to clean).. From our experience living here in portugal I would bury the pipe. One reason is the water in the pipe will get very hot in the summer and if you should have a fire on your land the pipe will melt and will need replacing. I know its a lot of work but it's a lot of money and work to replace it .

Agree in principle, we'll defo Bury some of it, but most is over granite, our land is so rocky only place that's clear really is down the terraces. But it's on the ever growing list 🚿🌾💚👌💦

Hi guys just an idea for hot water you can put a Ibc tank by the shower to collect the hot water that’s will be in the pipe maybe 100+gallons to take a hot shower free hot water from the sun all you have to do is turn the valve off & on the Ibc tank by the shower and it will continues flowing to the other tank all in a series of turning your valves on and off Just a suggestion might be of some help to you for hot water 👍✌️🤙❤️🇵🇹❤️

Hi Wild Landers lovely job you done put the pump from the well good idea but you have to think about the winter the pipe will froze and, in the Summer, the heat goes to 35 40 degrees so the pipe will burst the good idea are hire a little Digger and put the pipe underground anyway good job you done congratulations .

Great work you get water now. And I suggest the big pipe should go directly to the storage water tank rather than decreasing to small pipe it cause water pump to over head .

Yes you can do it with a big pump are you can use two IBC tanks Halfway up the hill and then fill them up then bring the pump up there and then pump it the rest of the way to the top two tanks on the top terrace and then use gravity fed the water to where you need it if it was me I put a tank by the top of Stonehouse also just a suggestion that might help you out 👍✌️🤙❤️🇵🇹❤️

If you had weighted one end of the pipe at the top and then unrolled it as you went, then weighted the pipe every so often along the route you wouldn't have those coils to contend with. I'm also amazed that little pump can lift the water that high. Pumps have a height / head capacity they can push water up to.

Sadly absolutely not on the pipe, we tried every option. It's, 1.5 inches internally and very rigid, it took 3 men to load into the van and was virtually impossible to untwist after as the twist had nowhere to go and it kinked the tube On the pump our head height is 27 metres and the pumps head height is 48, it was bought for the job and is pumping 1000 litres, an hour so we'll pleased 👌👍

They don't cost much more over here in Holland. Don't know how the prices are in Portugal. But im sure it will save you a lot of gas.

I've been searching for a video like yours as I intend to set up similar water system for my mountain land here in the Philippines. Mine would be more challenging as the distance is about 900 meters from water source (hillside spring) to my hilltop campsite which has an average slope of about 45 degrees.

Massive step forwards. Curious why you have gone to narrow gauge pipe at the top - does that restrict the flow? You all look so fit and healthy. It looks like you are very busy now and will become increasingly so as the growing season gets away. If you do have time it would be good to get an update on your visa situation, like you I will be navigating the post Brexit process from the UK.

My experience is: Don’t use IBCs for your water system. Spend the extra money and get tanks that are made for water storage. That way they are opaque and don’t end up full of algae from the sun penetrating the tank. I bought three IBCs two years years after I bought a water tank. Two out of the three are broken and unusable from sun damage. The legit tanks of 1100 liters are around $200 dollars and the used IBCs are $100. IBCS are designed for the temporary transport of liquids. They might last a long time if you keep them in the shade, but you really need to make a cover or paint them to keep algae from growing.

Nothing else really for sale here, that's vaguely affordable, plus we use our water in the summer too fast for algae to form. So fine for the purpose 🌞

We did loads of attempted turning but over 150 m lengths and it was very heavy just wasn't possible to do the whole run 🙄

You need to unroll it, in the way you moved the second roll. That way it stays straight.

Dom, get a reducer for the hose, you can get one that will take it down from the 22mm to 15mm xx Its awesome that it pumps that far up for you, well done!

So I assume that when they say "max head", or "max output", they mean vertically upwards, because the pump you have has a "max head" of 32m, but you pumped much further than that, didnt you? The max output must increase the more horizontal the slope. Have I got that right?

Hi we've 2 honda models, both the smaller and the larger can pump up the 330 meters from the well to the ibc and the head height from bottom of our well to top of the land is 26m

I've tried everyone not one person can help me. I'm buying a Mr buddy heater of amazon I want to connect it to my 6kg propane gas bottle. They amazon sell a hose black connector do you think that might fit. Sorry for question but you have a wealth of knowledge in this field. Cheers.

Hi black hose is 50mm, the head of the hill is 26m from bottom of the well to top ibc and it's going up 330m, the larger 3 honda pumps all cope with that
