3M makes an adhesive remover that works great on stickers. It loosens the glue and the stickers practically fall off. Saves a lot of scraping.

My father-in-law has that exact same box (in similar condition). I'm gonna ask him if I can restore it. Great video! Thanks for sharing with us.

Love restoring old tool box’s. A wire wheel on a grinder would save you a lot of time and frustration tho.

It was a lot of fun. I tried a little off camera and I didn't get very good results and I didn't want to burn through with a flap disk.

Heat gun works great for removing stickers

Thank you for the tip! I didn't even think of that.

I recently watched another video on the same subject but the dude simply left all hardware on the box and pained it the same bright red he used on the box itself. He didn’t even tape up the handles or the latches. What a waste of time and effort. I was very pleased to see you didn’t do that. Give yourself a big pat on the back!
@TheCatanzaroShop2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree! That's a lot of trouble to go through. Honestly getting and using that pop riveter makes that process much more achievable and easier to do. I appreciate the compliment!

Heat gun for stickers maybe would work.

Thanks for showing that trick with the slides. I'm working on a Union box and I think that might be the trick for that box too.

what size anvil was that you used to punch out the rivets?
@TheCatanzaroShop3 жыл бұрын
It's about a 10 lb anvil or so. You can get away with any size for something like that! Even an anvil on a vice!

I wouldn't wait more than 20 minutes to scrape off that stripper. Once it dries it l adheres back to the surface. While the stripper is still wet it will peel right off.
@TheCatanzaroShop3 жыл бұрын
You're right! I learned that on this one. Great tip!
