Sheet Metal is Fun! Making a tool tray using hand tool

This video is the fabrication part of how to make a tool tray as discussed in the video posted on May 17th titled "Sheet Metal is Fun #3 Part 1"
were I discuss deconstruction and visualization. In that video is where you will find the layout and dimensions for the tool tray. The videos were to be released simultaneously but due to unforeseen circumstances that did not happen. (Please excuse the train noise, the street traffic, the occasional dog bark, and yes you heard our chicken clucking!!) We had our cat and chihuahua in the house or they might of made their KZbin debut as well!!
I hope you enjoy the video and please feel free to post a picture of any projects you have made or let me know if you have any questions. I would especially like to see pictures of the tool tray if anyone makes one.

@71 I'm still learning. I hemmed countless pieces of aluminum over the years while doing vinyl siding and never realized that open loop on the hem added strength. Makes perfect sense because any tubular shape is more resistant to bending than a flat piece but it never dawned on me. So I'm happy to learn something new from you. Thanks.

As a machinist and sheet metal fabricator in the industrial food industry for over thirty years, and a home automobile parts fabricator for nearly fifty years, I really appreciate your video here. Of course having a Beverly B2, a Plexto foot shear, various brakes and Whitney punches, makes the work effortlessly. Your performing the work with basic hand tools is very clever. Even an Harbor freight brake would help here. I also like to use both my right hand and left hand Wiss snips so the smooth edge of my cuts always face on top for a smooth outside edge. I also agree that we sorely need constraining programs and apprenticeship ,s in this country. Our corporations and politicians have failed us over the decades along with the decline in strong trade unions.

I’m a software engineer, but have a sense of wonderment about creating 3D objects from a flat form. Whether it’s sheet metal, cardboard, or paper. I’ve created a handful of various boxes and trays in the past, but I still enjoy watching it done. Your explanation of the process was very simple and straightforward. Love your calm voice. Makes learning so much easier to do. It's like coaxing the knowledge into my mind. Thank you for that. I've never done sheetmetal work and learned how to use the snips to keep from getting the saw tooth edge. As soon as I get some sheetmetal, angel iron, and pipe, I'm building the saw horse and start making trays. Thank you again for the knowledge and confidence in myself.

Oh boy that's very kind of you. My wife and I started this channel after I approached our two high schools offering to be a satellite classroom teaching welding, plumbing,carpentry, hvac, automotive and sheet metal.
