SAM!!! I'm so very proud of you AND you helped me big time! Thank you for posting the work on this car. I have the very same car (2008 335XI) and I now know that I can do my O2 sensors from the bottom of the car if needed in the future. I had my Down Pipes installed by a shop because of the sub frame needing to be dropped and the O2 sensors replaced then but in the future you know they will need to be replaced again and it's worried me that I wouldn't be able to just do it myself on jack stands. Now I know that with the DP's I can reach them. As well I have up graded 17T turbos from ebay for almost a year now which along with a Custom Tune from a tuner using MHD as a flash app has made the car a monster for CHEAP!

Cool to see someone working on a platform I know disturbingly well unintentionally. Owning one of these has been awesome. Went from doing oil changes and car washes to brake pads, replacing injectors, both hi/lo fuel pumps, control arms, dropping my trans, exhaust, subframe, and more. Hasn’t seen an auto shop for anything other than alignment. Not for everyone but they are wildly fast for the money if you pick up a wrench, 200k is impressive. Many of them are unfortunately poorly maintained and modified with poor taste or parts.

Use a few long extensions to get the motor mount bolts from the top. Take both wheels off to assists in finding the bolts. 15mm. Oh and you'll probably need to replace the waterpump. They usually run about 50k. I have a 2010 335xi with 170k.

I had a similar hood latch problem on an Audi. Drivers side was stuck and passenger side did open. I used a 12" hacksaw blade poked it through the hood and managed to saw off the U shaped latch. Took a few hand bruising hours to cut through 6mm of steel but I got it done without damaging anything else but the latch. It wouldn't work I suppose if both latches were slammed shut but I got a bit lucky. Turns out the ball shaped head on one of the cables broke clean off.
